The most iconic church of Lalibela, Bete Giorgis
Bete Giorgis (or church of st.George) is the most iconic of the eleven rock-hewn churches of Lalibela, Ethiopia.
Being the latest build, the rock carving techniques are of the highest level.
The whole church, both exterior and interior including decorations, is catved from one single piece of rock.
This is mind-boggling and I think it is justified to call it the eight wonder of the world.
From all the Lalibela churches this church is the only one with a cared dome inside.
In this video is also the approach through the descending carved trench and gates.
Also the personal toolbox of st.Lalibela (peeking inside is forbidden).

Lalibela. Unfortunately is the chapel off limits but in front of the curtain it is possible to see 4 life siz...

World's biggest monolithic church, Bete Medhane Alem.
zhlédnutí 369Před rokem
The Bete Medhane Alem (or House of the Saviour of the World) church is one of the eleven rock-hewn churches in Lalibela, Ethiopia. This church is the largest monolithic church in the world. Every detail of this building is cut out of the same rock and realizing this makes it unbelievabel and excellent craftmanship.

After we left Axum, Ethiopia we visited a early morning church service. I don't know the name of the place, we just followed the crowd off the beaten track and stayed for a while watching and listening.

These tombs are under the foundations of a building on a small hill outside Aksum, Ethiopia. The tombs are well build with exceptionally refined stonemasonry with irregular mortar-less stones, one piece portals and complete with sarcophagus. Both accessible with beautiful long staircases.
The iconic Ezana Stone

This is the Ezana Stone in Aksum, Ethiopia. Named after King Ezana and engraved with his story in 3 different old languages and thus a source for translating (like the Rosetta stone). Preserved on it's original spot in a field beside the road.
Ethiopian home-brewed Tella Beer

To mingle with the locals we visited a Tellabet. This is a local residence where they brew and serve Tella beer. Recognizable by a pole with a colored can in front of the house. After a explanation of how to make it was time to get drunk. We enjoyed this place full with hospitality.
Palace of the Queen of Sheba, Ethiopia

This are the ruins of Dungur, Ethiopia. Presumably there is a connection with the Queen of Sheba but these ruins are most likely the remains of a large mansion of wealthy aksumite elite. Still, the former grandeur is visibly in the details.

Jehovah blesses the place where the Ark is. And causes destruction to the new home of the Ark if it is stolen. Jesus, the word of God replaces the need for High Priests and the Ark. That is why God put an end to these practices and allowed the temple in Jerusalem to be destroyed along with the Ark. Jesus is the Way, Truth and Life ❤
They say to us, Ancient Greek temples were built in B.C era and the Machu picchu is from 15th century. If so, then why does Machu Piccu look much older than the Greek temples when they are built on stronger granite stones that can resist erosion as opposed to lime stone ?

Why are you calling the Tigrynia text side Sabaean? We have no language named after Queen Saba, in fact she already spoke Ge'ez & Tigynia. where is this fake language called Sabaean coming from?
Epic
We have the same thing in Hawaii called Holua!
For traditional Ge’ez readers/speakers, 2 questions: (1) why does the ge’ez side have what looks like a “w”? Is that the alternate “se”? (2) why are all the letters the first letters of the set it belongs to (I.e. “se be tse he” I think I may have seen one “tsa”, but all of them look like the first letter. This makes me wonder if Ge’ez morphed from something that was SIMILAR (NOT THE SAME) as Arabic that has marks to indicate short & long vowel sounds, but in common colloquial use, doesn’t include the marks. This is interesting if so because there’s lots of current day Ethiopian/Eritrean words that have what is called in Arabic, the “shadda”, a mark that denotes long emphasis on a consonant sound (I.e. YohaNNes, shiDDa, etc.). I need to see the older forms of Ge’ez…
No it wasn't. Ge'ez is much older than all of those languages including Arabic.
Why you wouldnt show the Holy Arc you could film it with camera .
Great photography!
Dom Cristóvão da Gama (c. 1516-1542), the youngest son Vasco da Gama, is buried in this land. Cristóvão da Gama led a Portuguese army of 400 musketeers to Ethiopia in a crusade to defend Ethiopian Christianity and the empire. He was killed in battle and buried in a place called Degoma (da Gama), a rural village east of the City of Gonder.
Portuguese had an incredible empire

Legend has it that the cloth covering the ark was made from unicorn skin. Anyone who dared to look at the ark uncovered or opened was immediately turned to ash or a pile of spilled human gumbo.

To actually see the Arc safely one must install grounding rods that are ancient as well and built to move the arc. U will be burned or electrocuted if u touch it before the grounding rods are installed
😂
How they manage to not slide off is an accomplishment! 😀
