Captain James Cook reacts when Tahitians Steal the Ships Goat
Captain Cook returned to Tahiti and gifted the Tahitians with Horses and Cattle on behalf of King George. In addition to this, the natives also decided to steal the ships Goat. Captain Cook reacts to this theft by creating multiple search parities of Marines and crew members to destroy canoes and villages in return for the animal. Captain Cook then resists the urge to destroy the whole island hoping the natives will return the goat in due course.

Against all advice, including Lt William Bligh, Capt James Cook made a decision to return to a known harbour to perform repairs to the ships mast. Whilst on land, the repair parties were guarded by the ships Royal Marines, however still came under constant attack by the natives. Capt James Cook ordered the Royal M...

Ben Hardy and Ralph Jones manned the no.2 Vickers machine gun and began firing into the first wave of Japanese escapees making for the fenceline. They noticed a second wave attempting to flank them on the left but held their position. They were soon overwhelmed by the sheer numbers of Japanese and were killed. Private Jones managed to remove the gun bolt before he was killed which rendered the ...

Where is it from
I love how they just randomly pop up and start throwing stones at the britons lol
I remember thinking about this scene when I went to a 98% black high school. They acted like animals and bullied me for being white. It was the worst time of my life.
Bligh should be had for dinner.
Another example of why so many natives lost their land. They needed christ! Not their silly Pagan ways
So you think the natives might attack you at any moment but you sit writing about it in the beach in your log. LoL!
This piece of crap movie makes the hawiians look bad. The red coats were ruthless and they shot a small boy, the the natives said pow pow meaning that's it and killed the tyrant captain cook.

Such a great score I love the backing music in this
Reminds me of my first visit to Baltimore.
LOL
Somehow this accurate account of the event may be deemed racist and subject to being removed.
I'm cancelling my summer vacation to Tonga
Bloody savages!
I wouldn't go to Tonga
It should be noted that their only hope of survival was making it to Coupang and only Bligh knew how to navigate them there. Him being their captain aside risking their lives to save him for that reason alone makes a lot of sense. He dies, and they all might as well commit suicide.
Just shows how stupid and selfish Hawaiians were. They couldn't even let them have a single tree to repair and be on their way.
you are misinformed, Cook arrived on Kauai, gave disease, stole supplies, then headed for his NW PASSAGE, IT DIDN'T EXIST, returned to the big island and continued his limey exploitation ...... it didn't work... he died crying like a baby running for his ship....... sadly he was only to die just one time. don't believe it's history because it's in your British schoolbooks
Incidents like this makes you not so sympathetic about the flight of the 'indigenous' peoples of the world.
Cook was the victim of his own arrogance and british haughtiness towards the people of Hawai.
If this is true, it shows James Cook's ultimate weakness. Burning people's world because one of his guards slept on duty. If that goat had so much value to ship's crew, he had to order all his men to find it and then punish the guard. Being third time on Tahiti, he should have known by then how those people act. This was clearly reaction on his own mistake.
It wasnt a goat that was stolen, it was a ships Long Boat. And it wasnt Tahiti, it was Hawaii.

@@zvonimirvidovic1714 I responded to you repeating that it was a GOAT that was stolen and they were in Tahiti, not Hawaii. So glad he returned for ship repairs.
Worlds hang on matters of principle 👍🦍💯🔥
You didn't become a British ship captain by not being courageous, self-confident, resolute, persistent, and regardless of superstitious omens and beliefs. But on rare occasions those strengths could work against a brave man. Captain Cook was dismissive of his second-in-command's serious misgivings and forebodings. As any successful British ship captain, Cook was self-reassured and confident to the point that simply being British was strength enough against any impertinent native recalcitrance and hostility. Cook was confident in his own abilities, and to his credit, of those of his men. But Cook was obviously no land general with experience in any land combat as would a commissioned officer in the army comparable in rank. Cook would have then been far more wary of being grossly outnumbered by hostile adversaries, even if armed with primitive weapons, men who knew the territory and what they were fighting for. I think if Captain Cook possessed any experience in land combat, he would have considered his circumstances in the manner of an Army lieutenant colonel or colonel. Meaning, he would have given more weight and credence to his second-in-command. His gut instincts would have been to put more distance between himself and his men from the hostile Hawaiians in order safely complete his ship repairs and then get the heck out of Dodge City before sundown, so to speak.
Shooting this scene would be impossible nowadays. If this was shot today, first some dirty drunk, white men would be seen raping women of the tribe, and only THEN you'd see the savages attack. White men HAVE to be the evil ones nowadays, no matter what actually happened.
Why are white people portraying tongans Polynesians in generals as savage cavemen making us out to look dumb on television..white washing my people..if you did not know white people were the savages our people were more civilized then white people our people were smarter we did not have to travel to other places and steal other cultures to make their own. Bunch of pink looking pigs need to stop this sht..our people were more cleaner then white/pink people this is not who we really were.
Not all natives were kind and peaceful. Some were violent cannibals. There is no white washing here. There still is currently cannibal islands that are illegal to go to for people's safety.
You're stealing culture right now using electricity and indoor plumbing.
Bloody savages
"savages"? Who colonized these islands without their consent? European "savages"?

Bligh was an outstanding navigator and a resilient person. His flaw was that he was prickly and short tempered
Without men like Cook the modern world couldn't have been built. Simple as that. NB: The Royal appellation to the Royal Navy marines wasn't added until 1805.
