I loved We Hunt the Flame!

I was not expecting to enjoy The One as much as I did. It was so good and literally I was gasping out loud at some of the plot twists. It is definitely one of my top books of 2024 so far. There’s a TV adaptation on Netflix but I haven’t watched it yet. I have Renegades and A Good Girls Guide to Murder on my TBR so I’m glad to hear you liked them.

I hope you love The Ballad of Never After! I loved the first two books and I plan on reading the third sometime this month. I’ve heard not great things about the third book but I still want to give it a shot and see how it goes.

So many of my favorites are also on your list. 🥰 Carry On might be my favorite series, and I reread it every year. Cozy Fantasy is my top genre in 2023, including The House in the Cerulean Sea, The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches, the Tales of Verania series by TJ Klune, Legends & Lattes, and the Lore & Lust series by Karla Nikole. I might try to read Divine Rivals in December or January. I've also been binging the Wayward Children series, which are also perfect for cozy fantasy vibes, and I'm planning to reread and then finish The Iron Druid series (the first audiobooks I really fell in love with).

If you finish Iron Flame in time I’m having a live show on it for my book club coming up soon if you want to join us. Also starting in December on my channel I’m starting a read-a-long on the Crescent City series so if you don’t get to it in November you can join in if you’re interested. I also bought Sword Catcher without reading the synopsis because it’s Cassandra Clare and I love her writing. For Throne of the Fallen it’s a spin-off of the Kingdom of the Wicked series and it can be read as a standalone. It’s her first adult book. I might be doing a vlog of me rereading the first two of the Kingdom of the Wicked series and reading the last book which I haven’t read yet and reading Throne of the Fallen since it sounds fun lol.

I think you should give Cackle another chance I really do I really think you're going to enjoy it they build that up on the fact that she misses her boyfriend that much for a certain reason I would give it like another hours worth of reading if you don't like the direction it's going by then I would say dnf it but I really think you would enjoy it because that part got to me too just see how u feel

I wasn’t mad keen on The Lost Apothecary either, even though the subject was exactly what I like so I should have enjoyed it - I was disappointed, not by the historical part of the book but found the modern ‘story’ silly - the 2nd book may be better, will be interested to hear if it is!

Re your query about literary fiction (is that the right expression? I don't go for genres at all) you might like Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, because its soaked in mystery and weirdness and peculiar happenings and coincidences. It's one of my favourite classics and I have read and re-read it many times. I don't go for fantasy or science fiction at all, but those books about the 'pretties' and the 'uglies' sound really relevant and not escapist at all. Apparently they are for YAs, and I am a really old, male adult, but that plot sounds like really acute and profound social comment. I'll get them out from my local library, if they have them.
