Nice Dimmable!

Tekguild: Reviewed in the United States I needed a light for my 'reading nook' and am always looking for something 'different'. This unit fit the bill and seemed perfect for my needs, which it was. The 'main' light is great as it provides an overall light for reading, while the downlight is great for, say, lighting a table next to your reading chair. Now that I have this light, I'm thinking I'll get a few more for over my counters. With THAT said, there are probably a few things you should know: 1. The black metal housing is pretty thin metal - I accidentally dropped it from about 4' and it bent slightly out of shape. It was easy to bend back so no real biggie, except I'd expect a bit more sturdiness at this price range. 2. That same black metal housing thinness is something you should be aware of when adjusting the length of the cable - I can easily see how the cable housing could be cut if it comes in contact with the metal housing edge, including the edges of the hole it's fed through, so just be careful about that. 3. The dimmer module was loose when I opened the box - it was essentially held onto the inside of the metal housing with double sided tape, and not a very good one at that. Simple fix - use a strip of better double sided tape I had lying around. Also could be solved with some hot glue, packing or painters tape or some other appropriate glue. Again, no biggie, but still expected better at this price. 4. The cable length adjustment is a pain in the arse unless you have a way to have the cable be loose during adjustment - which means finding something you can set the light down on while you change the cable length. So...make sure to measure exactly how long you'll want the cable and get it right the first time. 5. The screws holding the metal housing to the bracket are short Philips head screws, making them easy to lose. Again, nbd, but I would expect knurled capture knobs at this price (knurled capture knobs allow you to use your fingers to tighten/loosen and the 'capture' part means they can't fall out of their hole, unlike the included screws. I can see how aesthetically it might not be as pleasing, but that's an opinion and there are plenty of other aesthetically 'good' ways of doing it that I haven't the time to go into. 6. WISH - that it had separately dimmable main and downlights. All in all I really like this light, despite a few shortcomings and wish list items.
