Downtown Julie was freaking irritating.
Good advice from Tootie!!!
Ay u fucken dick you could’ve showed some love and respect to her grave and brought judith some flowers how dare you disturb the dead and not show any type of respect
a good example of trying so hard that even the average customer sees through the charade
DivX might’ve been a cool idea for a Blockbuster to do. But it also just seems like a way to add copy protection to your movies.
Somehow DivX and Circuit City are still alive…. How is this possible a
Yes, all I want to do is create my own digital library that is locked behind a pay wall every time I want to watch one of them. What a great idea.
Her “Father” was a monster!
Her grave also says "yep yep yep."😢😢😢😢
I need to find this tape, someone at least needs to upload this in better quality. I have some printed sales training material I need to put online somewhere.
“Do you like hot fudge sundaes?”
3:46 - Friendly reminder: 4.50$ in late 90s money would be about almost 10$ today. Why is that relevant? Well, aside from the fact that's *way* too much money even within the context of the period... Divx didn't like, die out until like, 2001; meaning just a a year later we had 1.50$ Red Box rentals, and Netflix launched their ship-to-home DVD rental in 1998 at a six dollar price point for a week long rental. So Divx wasn't just bad, it was bad *during the time it was a thing*, as a product and service goes. Divx was a really bad idea, that was out of touch with consumer and market trends.
YEP! YEP! YEP! ❤
Circuit City Employee: "It's almost impossible to believe that DIVX could go under .........Circuit City itself goes under less than 10 yrs later

It's a flawed part of the business model to allow customers to keep the DIVX until 48 hours after they have started watching the movie. What if they don't get around to it until a week later or even more? What if the store has only 10 copies of a particular movie and 7 people hold onto it while the movie is in demand? Does the store follow up with a phone call to the customers in possession of movies to see if they have watched the movie if available copies dwindle? I can't imagine customers would like feeling rushed into watching a movie. Or how would the store know if the customer may be lying and has watched the movie (maybe even several times)? And they just want to keep it for longer because they loved the movie and want to keep rewatching it (or even hold onto it thinking the store may forget about the copy or just give up pursuing it. Maybe it may have been a better pitch to tell customers that if they have not watched the movie within the 48 hour limit that they could keep the movie for another 24 hours. This would be going above-and-beyond for the customer. But imposing no time limit means customers could take advantage of stores.
Anti death penalty dummies fell for this clown
WHAT IF DIVX GOES OUT OF BUSINESS? I used to see the divx logo on the bottom of pirated stuff in the mid 2000's I always seriously thought it was just an encoder like mp4 etc. I had no idea this way early netflix PPV.

Wonderful camera quality for 11 years ago - what were you using
I used to work for Sears. I compare Circuit City’s Divx idea to Sears brain fart of a rewards program called Shop Your Way Rewards. Both sunk their respective companies and Sears cashiers were very reluctant to sell them to customers while some didn’t do it entirely even though they had to.
József Barsi finally in Hell :)
Wow, really crazy times!! Happy 30th Anniversary to this footage!!
Today (Saturday, June 29, 2024) marks exactly 30 years since this footage was originally filmed. Happy 30th Anniversary!! Awww, the kitty is so adorable!!! The guy had me laughing when he said he wanted to be a nude man when he grows up, lol!! I suppose your family and friends were very adventurous and fun to hang out with 30 years ago!
I can't believe they ever had something like this.
10:00 That's not really an answer, it's more of a brush off. Also gee that aged well. 10:25 Well there's a fuckin lie there
You're tone is so disrespectful for the story You're telling. Shame on you ya massive FU*K*ng PR**k.
Them trying to market a DVD player with restrictions as revolutionary must have been funny even at the time.
Circuit City's greed and attempt to strongarm the home media market blinded them from seeing how bad this idea really was. I'm glad this crap didn't take off. Can you imagine how horrible this would have been for the format?
D I V X
Wow! DIVX is going to be a huge hit and ensure Circuit City is going to be around forever!
Judith Barsi's father was a heartless monster!
I heard about DivX once in the nineties and never thought of it again.

Can I rent this at Blockbuster?
I used to have a high school principal and his name was Ed McGhee, I don't know if he's still alive or not
Ahh, I can smell the disk rot from here.
interesting youtube relic
i remember hearing about this a little bit when it first came out. however, i didn't end up getting a dvd player until the jan/feb or 2001 or so. until then i stuck with VHS. i didn't think it was a good idea back then.. many things have come and gone over the years but this was probably the biggest flop of all time.. even the concept of it.. paying to "view" it each time? in the long run it was cheaper just to buy the dvd outright, and if you didn't like it, you could sell it.. and make some of your money back. terrible and poorly executed idea. can't imagine for its small lifespan that they actually sold alot of these, just a bad concept all the way around and any tech savy consumer would know... or even a novice that is is a bad deal.
They had a playlist of season one and two of the show on CZcams and now I discovered today that the videos are hidden!
She is too adorable
