My Philadelphia Derringer Loading Stand That I Made by Myself
This pistol only has a 7.125" overall length so loading is usually done in the hands, but I got to tell you having this small stand to load makes things a lot easier. I am no craftsman but I think this loading stand came out looking classy for something I cobbled out of bits and pieces. Pocket pistols have a storied history. Primarily used as a concealed deterrent for protection in an age when most firearms of the pistol type were large and bulky, the pocket pistol evolved based on stealth. The most iconic pocket pistol was the Philadelphia Deringer. Invented in 1852 by gunsmith Henry Deringer, a muzzle-loading percussion pistol that packed a punch for punching distance. I have some very expensive knives, but Green River knives rank high amongst my favorite blades. They just work, and in my opinion, they look good doing it. Good knives, good steel, still a bargain in today’s world.

Have you ever tried shoving a pocket watch in that pocket? The vest and its pockets as well as the button retention device and fob, and countless historic photos make me think otherwise. 1873 - Blue Jeans Are Born Levi Strauss & Co. and Jacob Davis receive a U.S. patent for an "Improvement in Fastening Pocket-Openings." By adding metal rivets to work pants, and they are worn by working men for whom a pocket Watch is a rare luxury item. In 1914, Henry Ford astonished the industrial world when he practically doubled the wages of his assembly line workers to $5.00 per day (for a six-day week), thus making them nearly the highest-paid hourly workers. Adjusted for inflation an inexpensive pocket watch would be over 700 bucks today.

In 1908, pistol dueling was demonstrated as part of the concurrent Franco-British Exhibition, using the Olympic fencing arena and in front of invited guests. There were no official demonstration sports until 1912. The storage box is a great idea. I wonder if I can make the same stand work for a single shot and a revolver.
I used a V notch for the octagonal barrel, for a cap and ball revolver you might try as U shape notch, four pieces of wood and some screws and a little gorilla glue for extra strength, plus that little storage box helps keep things handy, and it beats loading off hand.

Wow, you got it right, about driving the knife in all the way to the Green River. So many people have gotten that wrong. I learned it by reading the journal of a trapper. He said and I quote "If you have to fight a bear, stick the knife in all the way to the Green River, and leave it there" I bought my first three Green River knives back in the mid 80's, 1980's that is :) And I still have them, and use them in my kitchen all the time. Great knives. Stay sharp, and hope your doing well.

No dude it’s bc quartz isn’t nearly as effective as flint lol. Yes it will work but not as well. That’s why miquelet locks had features to better accommodate chert/quartz etc. bc on the frontier flint might be hard to find. But flint is and was always the first choice. That said thanks for the video I am trying to learn how to find & knapp flint from rocks in my area.

I make a few on a cnc machine and cut a counterbore on eack side. One side slightly the the barrel and the other the size of your patch. This centers everything and i make the diamter of the holes to where finger pressire is the only thing needed. You should not have to pound a flat spot on the ball after bgoing through the wood.
You would do well to watch some videos of people that know how to make entertaining videos-- especially without annoying music, and perhaps useful explanations of what's gong on and why. Pretty sure we all have seen someone sit and smoke before!
