The Lion King origins of the stage musical
Director Julie Taymor incorporates dramatic devices from African and Asian cultures into this hit musical. She had to decide the best way to depict animals in this theatrical adaptation of the popular cartoon and creates an astounding theatrical landscape that relies on the audience's imagination to "fill in the blanks."

O'Neill Long Day's Journey into Night
zhlédnutí 822Před 5 lety
Eugene O'Neill is considered the "father" of American theatre, creating a wholly distinctive native voice separate from our European forefathers. "Long Day's Journey Into Night" is considered his masterpiece. This clip sets the context for the piece. The first in a long line of American family dramas, this searing and semi-autobiographical piece takes place during one "long day into night" when...
Scaramouche 1952 movie commedia dell'arte scene
zhlédnutí 22KPřed 5 lety
This movie has one of the better examples of the Italian commedia del'arte style of acting. Yes, it's filtered through a 1950s Hollywood sensibility with production values that are much more lavish than the early Renaissance players would have had, but is still a good look at what the experience might have been like.

Fell in love with Butler in this film... <3
You know,you said ...
Eu assisti esse filme há mais de 40 anos e nunca esqueci!!!! Amoooo demais!!!!!! Hoje sou formada em Música e sei que a Comédia Dell'Arte foi o embrião do que viria a ser uma Ópera.
May I use this movie clip for educational purposes?
John malkavich is a great actor from this movie to 2023
I was married for 13 years before my husband passed of cancer. I have three kids to raise without him and no family as I'm orphan. He couldn't pay for a trip but he sent me this movie 6x after his death. He knew I would replay fights like this in my head and torture myself. I miss him every day. And everytime I stare at the large stack of ps I love u movies unopened. ... I know he still loves me and one day will be together again.
Hoffman is probably still evacuating the scenary.
Holy shit this was intense. Came here to get some inspiration and watch this with a profesional eye but ended up crying 😅
biff makes me look like willy loman
Women ☕
Can he do the fandango?
Movies and plays with dialogue like this only make sense when you get older.
I'm looking for a monologue to perform for a contest I joined in on school, then I came across this... Guess what I'm going to present then?
The acting in this scene is terrible. I have never seen Fonda so weak
Oh~~ Biff
Nora quits the house with no luggage, only the clothes on her back. By so doing, she gives herself almost no chance of survival on her own. She has two realistic options: to starve and die alone in the streets, or to return to her family and set up some boundaries. However, a close reading of Ibsen reveals that he thought nothing of forcing characters on each other by having one arrive at another's home uninvited and in crisis. Could someone please tell me how common this behavior was among the middle class during the time that Ibsen wrote? Su casa mi casa? What a drag for whoever had been expecting to spend a simple night sipping brandy in front of the fire but instead was forced to spend the next six months clucking and commiserating. The very notion makes me shudder.
Violence against men needs to stop, she's obviously a spoiled c u n t, drop her like a bad habit
Dynamite acting from such screen legends!
This scene is more disturbing than many horror movies. I would feel more comforted watching the shining than this scene.
One of the world's great plays performed flawlessly. This is the highwater mark for what great acting looks like. Tour de force.
Over all romance movies. This has always been a favorite. Along with Keith. Both have death sadly
Stupenda pellicola per la televisione, non è chissà che cosa ma comunque è gradevole da seguire, quindi stupenda e stupenda per me come valutazione è 8.
Two years after this movie, John Malkovich played Tom Wingfield in a movie version of Tennessee Williams's "The Glass Menagerie". But when you analyze it carefully, Biff and Tom are basically the same character. Both are a browbeaten and disillusioned son of a loving but overbearing parent, and in the end, they both have to leave the family, on less-than-good terms, to save themselves.
What act is thism
Death of a Salesman
Latter half of Act 2 I think
Saw this many moons ago.
Loved this film, wish he didn't have to die tho 🙈
Shows you what a talent Malkovich was before he went down the "Hollywood" path to drivel like ConAir.
Willy Loman W
I found this through a random Wikipedia tunnel. Stunning. Does anyone know - is this truly improvised?
They improvised and were free in rehearsal - JC van Italle then scribed what was happening. Then they brought the improvised spirit back into the performance of the script.
i think if someone wrote a sequel to the book it would be interesting
Only Hilary has a sexy bod
I just got the dvd. It's an awesome movie. It makes me think of what I would do. Been married to the man 47 years
She's a classic beauty 🥰
This is the supreme difference between stage and screen acting. In film, there's the ability to do a scene over if it's not what the director wants. On stage, it is do or die. No do-overs, no CUT!, nothing but the purity of performance. Miller pulled the flag back on the American Dream and revealed the shadowy reality of failed dreams. Excellent acting from Malkovich and Hoffman.
What happened to the loan after he died? Is it ever mentioned again in the film?
How he said "My eye" like a leprechaun 😂😂😂
I saw this on Broadway a couple months back. The “I’m not a dime a dozen I’m Willy Loman,” made me ugly cry. God, I love this play.
i have to watch this clip for school, and i also though it was really funny.
Such a powerful scene and so well acted!
seinfeld
This scene left me speechless… absolutely beyond words…
then : 'Thunderbolt and lightning very very frightening me" now : "As the wind blows" 🗿
When i started watching this movie, i thought it will be about him and her wanting or not wanting a baby, fights, love, etc. but then within a few mins they broke my heart😢
Well I'm practically- No you are practically full of it 😄
And I stopped and I realized who I am,so why can't I stop these psycho therapy sessions, Willie?! Why am I so addicted to drama Willie?! I suppose that's my fault... It's nobody fault Willie.... Why do I need so much unnecessary drama in my life? Why do I need to have more psycho drama sessions with myself when there's more unnecessary drama waiting for me out there? Now why can't I do that Willie? Would you let go of all this drama? Can we stop these psychotherapy sessions?
his accent sucks >:(
I’m here because of AP English when I was a senior in high school.
