B777 outboard flap, outboard flap support extension
zhlédnutí 22KPřed 4 lety
The No8 flap support fairing had been removed for repair to the composite skin. I took the opportunity to film the flap support in action during a flap extension. In the hangar we use the secondary flap/slat extension system which uses an electric motor, this is very slow so the video has been sped up to 4 times it's normal speed. You could select a playback speed of 0.25 to see the original sp...

Boeing 777 Fuel Tank Venting for Entry
zhlédnutí 22KPřed 6 lety
A short clip showing fuel tank venting for fuel tank entry in progress. This process is left to run for about 24 hours to make sure all remaining fuel in the tanks after defuelling and dribble draining (the clear plastic hose hanging down from the wing) is evaporated and vented for safe entry into the fuel tank.

787 sump drain
zhlédnutí 7KPřed 6 lety
This is a routine weekly check to check for the presence of water in the fuel tank. There is a water scavenge system in the fuel system that draws any water due to condensation from the sump area of the fuel tank and mixes it with the rest of the fuel in sufficiently small quantities that it has little to no effect on the engine. If the scavenge system jet nozzles become clogged then water pool...
Boeing 787 RAT test
zhlédnutí 19KPřed 6 lety
Just a short video of the Boeing 787 RAT being driven by an attached hydraulic motor. This test is performed to check the RAT's hydraulic pump and electrical generator are functioning correctly. The motor that is bolted onto the back of the RAT is driven using an external hydraulic rig that is feeding the motor with hydraulic fluid at 4200psi at 40GPM.
777-300ER GE-90 Engine Run - Shaking the plane (high volume!)
zhlédnutí 6KPřed 7 lety
Somebody commented on an earlier video that they would have liked to have seen a bit more of the fuselage bouncing about while the engine was at high power, so here it is! The audio doesn't sound as good as other videos, which is a shame.

Boeing 777-300ER GE90-115B High Power Engine Run - Now in HD - Still LOUD!

This is a high power ground run performed after maintenance to check engine serviceability. GE say this engine has the equivalent of 145 thousand horsepower! I thought I'd upload this as it's much better quality than the original version, hope you enjoy it. I would have liked to add some fun facts about the GE90-115B but I can't find any other than the specs below, booo to GE. Thanks Type: axia...
Boeing 787 Main Equipment Bay
zhlédnutí 78KPřed 8 lety
Just a short video showing inside the Main, or Forward, Electronic Equipment Bay Most of the noise in here is from the cooling system fans drawing air through the components. The video starts off looking at the rudder/brake pedal linkages and just behind those, the control wheel and column linkages. Both the pedals and control wheel/column are cross connected, so when one pilot moves a control,...
Boeing 787 Aft Equipment Bay
zhlédnutí 22KPřed 8 lety
Just a short video showing inside the Aft Electronics Equipment Bay in a Boeing 787-8. That high pitch whine is the transformers doing there job of converting ground power at 115v to several other voltages for use on the aircraft. Not the most entertaining video in the world I'll admit, but it's not something you get to see very often. Thanks

Looks nice. But. APU starting and operation must be with APU compartment access doors closed, in case of APU fire. Be careful with this😊

We all know it's very necessary for safety reasons, but these venturi's noise can get very irritating after 8 or 9 hours in the hangar haha Where I work, whenever someone goes and turn these off after finally venting a tank, it's followed by a round of applause hahaha

It was considered poor practice to fire up the APU with the access doors open unless you had a work platform up with an extinguisher on hand. With the doors open, the onboard extinguisher system was useless as it relied on the doors containing the extinguishant to quell any fire. The outlet is visible on the firewall just above and to the left of the left stay rod. Not actually a nozzle, just the open end of a firewall fitting.
