NFL Sports Talk Football '93 Starring Joe Montana (Genesis)
You ever just try to play something and nothing you do works? That's what happened here. It's really frustrating too because deep down I can tell this is a technically impressive and well made game, I just can't figure out how to make it do what I want. Absolutely a skill issue but I just couldn't figure this one out.

Little something different today as we shift into some arcade style baseball. At first I wasn't sure how I felt about this one but the more I played and the more used to it I got I started to really enjoy it. I got smoked sure but still had fun getting the feel for it, will play more in the future for sure.

Hooooly, how did we go from the best football game on the system to the WORST in one development cycle. This game is beyond bad. You have to manually change the graphics settings (on a console game!) to get it to a playable framerate and even then its still absolute garbage to slog through. Another whacky finish to this one, stick around for shenanigans. Ultimately while graphically superior to madden in very single way, the gameplay just didn't hit for me. I was expecting more explosive offence but what I found was really bad run block AI making a ground game really difficult to establish and passing the ball felt random. The N64 is really starting to show it's age and limitations here. The first Madden in a while that I just really wasn't feeling start to finish. It's really not fair to bash this one though since you could play the *real* Madden 2001 on PS2. I love when iterative sports series actually improve each year. This is to me is an upgrade in every way over 99. This is definitely one to check out if you want some more baseball action on the N64

I never knew changing it to arcade gave you the EA voice guy for your commentary, I was not prepared for that. Traditional gives you the Pat and John you expect but this was a neat changeup.

For an n64 game the graphics really impressed me. It looks and sounds great, and player profile pictures are a nice touch, grain and all. However I dis come across an issue with this one: batting. This is hands down the most fun I've had with a 2D baseball game. Tecmo stays winning. The fielding POV being inverse of most games did mess with a me a little bit and caused a few button fumble plays but honestly I think I prefer it. And who doesn't love using The Big Hurt to launch a ball into the upper deck?

Getting into some old basketball now. For 1990 this is pretty legit though. 5:28 always crack me up with that noise
I actually liked this game despite a lot of the bad elements. It was pretty fascinating to be able to create high school teams with names and jersey colors. It would have been cool had they allowed a high school season and given them more plays.
Oh I know I’m in the minority.just to me the Genesis version there were only like I swear 3 goalie animations and just pass the puck up the middle and bam 5 hole goal. SNES version had way more goalie animations and more ways to score if you were goalie. The graphics were def better for the Genesis version and sound.

I remember enjoying NFL Quarterback Club on the Genesis and even the 32X (which was more or less same as the Genesis version) I actually prefer the 2D version over this 3D mess... and that came out 4 years prior?
Yeah the 2d ones are great, and even the year prior 99 has my vote for one of the best sports games on the system. I don't know what happened with this mess but it is *not* good

This game is the Madden engine, but *perfected*. TECMO Super Bowl is the undisputed king of the 8-bit era, ESPN NFL 2K5 is the (mostly) undisputed king of the PS2/XBOX era, and Bill Walsh College Football 95 is gradually being recognized as the best football video game of the 16-bit era. And I say that as someone who has never followed college football. The previous game (Bill Walsh College Football) had nearly everything this game had, and its sequel (College Football USA 96) made some really impressive graphical (and other) improvements, but Bill Walsh 95 is the one where every aspect of the game is so smooth and satisfying, and so in-tune with every other aspect of the game. This is my favorite SEGA Genesis game.
I would have sunk so much time into the Bill Walsh games as a kid if only I knew they existed. All I had was the (admittedly terrible) mindscape NCAA Football game growing up. It was an absolute treat discovering these games.
@@sports_fix Same here! Well, I knew of the original (Bill Walsh College Football) because I played it with my neighbors a few times, and we had so much fun. But at the time I didn’t think to seek it out, or its successor, because I figured Madden 95 or 96 was probably even better (I only had John Madden Football, and then a bunch of non-EA football games).

While nowhere near as legendary as the NES version, but this is still a dope version, regardless!!!! I will always love that menu music!!
Strangely, all sound effects and not just the announcer are higher pitched than normal. If you lower it, it's the same as Tournament Edition. It's also sped up a bit
