We are Merlin and Jeffrey.
We are a young couple from the Netherlands who have decided to quit everything and move to Australia.
This was not an easy choice, but we are very happy that we went ahead.
Every Wednesday at 1:00 AM we post a vlog to show what we have experienced.

Wij zijn Merlin en Jeffrey.
We zijn een jong stel uit Nederland die hebben besloten alles op te zeggen en te verhuizen naar Australië.
Dit was geen makkelijke keuze, maar we zijn ontzettend blij dat we hebben doorgepakt.
Iedere dinsdag om 17:00 uur plaatsen wij een vlog om te laten zien wat we hebben meegemaakt.
Moving to Austrlia: We had an incounter with a ghost
This week we stepped completely out of our comfort zone and went to a house full of ghosts.
We summoned them under professional guidance and opened ourselves up completely.
But if you think that summoning ghosts was the scariest thing of our week, you are very wrong.
That was the fat Australian spider that ran across our balcony.
There was also a funfair in the Gold Coast and we felt like children again.
Enough footage in any case to keep you entertained for the next 10 minutes.

I hope she has a helmet. It would spoil the surprise if she got fined for not wearing a helmet. The wearing of a helmet while riding a bicycle is compulsory in Australia and it is enforced.

@@MerlinandJeffrey Sorry, I’m not much of a beer drinker, prefer red wine! But I know I’m not a fan of Carlton & United beers. When I drink beer it will be from a craft brewery. There are so many now in all states. If you have a Dan Murphy nearby they have quite a good range. P.s my favourite beer is Heineken which I’m sure you would know well, but only the imported one not the one made in Australia under licence. But of course it all depends on one’s palate and tastes. Happy drinking. 😀

Don’t know what audience you were aiming at but seriously know that you can speak English so don’t know why you didn’t. So many more ppl could have enjoyed this.
Hey Diana, It was a conscious choice for us to speak Dutch in our videos. This is because this feels most natural to us. And another reason we do this is because we want to show friends and family what we experience here. Including family members who speak little or no English. Of course we love that our videos are also watched by Australians and that is why we put a lot of time and attention into subtitles every week.
Not every home in Australia has bathrooms next to every bedroom. That is incorrect. My home is three bedrooms one bathroom we do have a toilet upstairs for the two bedrooms with a sink. Some homes only have one toilet and bathroom. I assume many modern buildings do especially units that can be rented for multiple occupancy/sharing. Sorry to say most of your things are more related to living in larger towns or cities. My small town the staff will carry take your groceries to the car for you if you are older or unable to. Trolleys are never left outside the shop.
Ik ben benieuwd, wat voor een visum hebben jullie? Toen ik naar het buitenland verhuisde moest ik eerst een secured job hebben voordat ik het land in mocht. Mag je Australie in zonder werk?
Wij hebben allebij een Working Holliday Visum. Daar hoef je van te voren geen werk voor te hebben. Je kunt dan 12 maanden blijven, tenzij je 88 dagen werkt in bepaalde gebieden/beroepen. Dan kun je je visum met nog een jaar verlengen tot een max van 3 jaar.
