      There is no doubt in my experience that the pipe helps. I notice it when bucking larger rounds like 20-30 inches. Power sustains. Smaller wood it’s not as noticeable. Better throttle response. A sharp chain and a mod like this does a lot. IMO. ✌️

      @Northofsomething82 Před 2 měsíci

      I’ve been back and forth on doing this as well. My two boys have helped me on jobs and I usually get them to drag brush and chip it. They are teenagers and maybe not as mindful as they should be sometime. I’ve kept the safety mechanism factory for this reason. I’ve stuck a felling wedge in between the mechanism and shoot before though when I’ve been operating it. That works too. ✌️

  • @Gojigwr
    @Gojigwr Před 2 měsíci

    These chippers now come with a wider wheel stance for better stability. My machine is one year old but kept tipping over behind the ATV so I look forward to the update. Do these chippers have a second grease fitting under the belt guard? How often should it be greased, and how do we know when its full? It says in the manual to grease the rack and pinion but doesn't even show where to find it. Does a wood chipper even have rack and pinion? Useless.

    • @Northofsomething82
      @Northofsomething82 Před 2 měsíci

      Hey there. The chipper definitely could use some improvements, one being the wheel base. Glad to hear they are wider now. Mine too is about 1.5 years old now. It’s seen a lot of wood. I’ve had the belt cover off, no grease nipple there. I’ve just been greasing the one on the driveshaft. I pump 3-4 squirts of grease before every use. If it’s full, I get a little seepage come out of the bearing cover. The bearings inside the belt drive area are all greaseless on mine. Thanks for watching. ✌️

    • @Gojigwr
      @Gojigwr Před 2 měsíci

      @@Northofsomething82 Thats odd. Mine does have a nipple on the shaft under the belt, and the machine sounds about the same age. Both with narrow wheels. Hopefully the belt-side bearing is okay because I did run it for at least 5 hours without adding grease. The belts themselves seem a bit loose, and I see some black belt dust around. Are belts adjustable somehow? Or just replace when they begin to slip too much?

    I have the same saw and i let a friend adjust it so lets say he should stick with working on cars because it hasn't ran right since. Everything was screwed with and i cant find anything on the idle screw setting.. if you turn it in all the way to start over you have to turn it out I think at least two and a half or three turns before you can get the choke to stay out so I guess my question is how far do I unscrew or whatever do I turn that out after the initial three that you have to do to get the choke to stay out if that makes any sense

    • @Northofsomething82
      @Northofsomething82 Před 2 měsíci

      Hello Sean. Without your saw in front of me I may not give you the answer you want but I’ll try my best. I’d start from scratch. Turn both your high and low jets in all the way then turn them out 1.5 turns. Start the saw, Then, turn your idle screw until your chain starts spinning without you touching the throttle (chain brake off). Now you can tune your low jet like the video shows. After you feel good throttle response, turn the idle screw back in until the chain is no longer spinning. Your high jet will set your RPMs. Too fast, you’ll blow it up. Your choke will only work when the saw is cold. Once you burp the throttle it kicks the choke out. If your saw is warm and you try choke it again, it will flood. Not sure if I answered your question. Steve from Steve’s small engine saloon also has great videos on tuning chainsaws. Maybe check him out too. ✌️

    I think where OEM parts are a good idea is when the Stihl or Husky that you really want aren't made anymore and are either super hard to find or too expensive. The you can buy a clone saw of that Stihl or Husky you really wanted and put OEM parts in it as needed to make it dependable and run better. For me I just bought a clone of the Stihl 200t, because I used to have that Stihl saw and loved it when I had it. Now they are too expensive, so I bought the G111 a clone of that saw and I only intend on buying OEM parts for it if that seems like the only way to really fix an issue with it. But I'm buying it because I want one, not because I have a serious need for a top handle saw. But I plan on keeping it for along time unless somehow a miracle happens and someone gives me a Stihl ms200T as a gift. Because that's the only way I'll ever be able have a Stihl ms200T again. Lol My advice for those that have a serious need for a saw, is to buy a Stihl pro saw or the Husky equivalent so you are getting a serious saw that you can depend on. Also I suggest doing your research on the saws before going to buy one and I suggest you go through a dealer and not a box store. At least that's what I did when I bought my Stihl saws years ago. Great video. I appreciate your honest opinion on the saw and why you chose it. I'm glad it helped you decide that you really like it and that size would be useful enough to be worth saving up to buy a Husky version for dependability. 😎👍

    • @Northofsomething82
      @Northofsomething82 Před 3 měsíci

      Hey there. There are so many ways you could charge. I give a free estimate. I typically quote a little high but when the job is complete I come in lower than I quoted. If the stump is more difficult than I predicted then I charge what I quoted and no more. It gives you some wiggle room. In my area I’m the only person that provides this type of service(grinding stumps in tight areas) so I charge accordingly. You have to decide what you are worth. My price may be different due to many variables. I only charge the client per job. My prices are reasonable for my area. I know this because I get repeat customer.

    I build woodchippers for living here in Ontario. I used to install 420cc gas engines before, different brands like Wangaard, Kohler, Ducar. They all have the same power 15hp. But no torq. unfortunately. After while i switched to diesels. Started with 500cc diesels. Now install only 660cc and 720cc diesels. They have torq and never bogs down. 5 inches trees going through easily. Another disadvantage of that blue chipper. The intake hooper is too high. You will get exhausted too quickly. Especially when you chip larger branches.

    I just recently bought the Neotec version of this saw. The "torch" spark plug lasted less than an hour....LOL. I thought it might be a coil problem...checked the spark plug and it had zero continuity. I too was having problems tuning it and it turned out that the decomp valve was bad and leaking pretty severely also. I'm still in the process of breaking it in and tuning it. I've only used for about an hour or 2, so I'm still tinkering around with it. I'm gonna check it for air leaks with the spray. Mines still tuned a little rich running which is what I want for break-in. Your saw seems to be running like an animal with that pipe on it. I didn't think I'd want or need a pipe since the stock muffler comes with no baffles in it, but I'm first gonna try opening up the muffler I got, and if that's less than satisfactory, I'll probably weld up one of those ironhorse pipes. The little problems with these saws can be a challenge at first, when you're expecting the thing to run well out of the box. But, I bought it to tinker with and I'm getting exactly what I wanted.

    • @Northofsomething82
      @Northofsomething82 Před 5 měsíci

      Hello Marcel. It sounds like you are having a similar experience so far. It took me some time to get this saw dialled in but once I fixed up a few minor things, it runs really well. You will see a lot of “pipe haters” on the internet saying they don’t do anything but make noise. This may be true if the pipe isn’t build well but in my experience these pipes definitely create a sustainable power band and snappy throttle response. I have pipes on a few others saws on the channel. Check those vids out. All the Ironhorse design. If you are able, i definitely suggest at least trying one. You decide if you like it. Thanks for sharing your information and watching the vid. Stay Well ✌️
