When Our Insecurities Define Us | 1 Samuel 8:7
Are you ready to trust your insecurities to the security in God?
Welcome to the Daily Devo. I am Vince Miller.
This week, we are in 1 Samuel 8. I've titled this chapter "When Our Insecurities Define Us."
When anyone reflects on the events of their life, they will always remember key moments that signify high points and low points. I can easily recall several high and low points in my life, and I'm sure you can too. When these moments are connected, they form the narrative of our lives.
Chapter 8 is a defining low point in the story of God and Israel. As you will see, this is the moment the nation of God rejected God as its leader. So, for all you nationalists out there, our departure from being a nation under God is not a recent occurrence; it happened hundreds of years ago.
The key verse of this chapter is 1 Samuel 8:7, which reads:
And the Lord said to Samuel, “Obey the voice of the people in all that they say to you, for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected me from being king over them - 1 Samuel 8:7
The people of Israel, gripped by insecurity, demanded a king to lead them, like the surrounding nations. Despite Samuel's warnings, their fear and desire to conform overshadowed their faith and trust in God. This choice marked a pivotal shift-rejecting God's authority in favor of human authority.
Now, let's drive this point closer to home. Think about your own life. What moments have defined your journey? Have there been times when your insecurities drove you to marked moments that distanced you from God? Maybe it was the pursuit of approval by others, a decision made out of fear, or a relationship that dishonored your faith. Just like Israel, we all face moments where we let our insecurities define us.
But here's the good news: our defining moments don't have to end in rejection. We can redefine them through repentance and a renewed commitment to God's leadership.
Take some time today to reflect on a defining moment in your life where insecurity led you away from finding your security in God. Write it down and be honest about how it impacted your relationship with God. Then, prayerfully ask God to help you redefine that moment. Seek His guidance and wisdom to turn that past insecurity into a testimony of His grace and power in your life.
Remember, it's never too late to let God redefine your story. Trust in his leadership and allow him to turn your past insecurities into a future marked by faith and security in him.
#InsecurityToSecurity #TrustGodsLeadership #RedefineYourStory
Ask This:
How can you identify moments in your life where insecurity has influenced your decisions or actions? What steps can you take to trust God's security instead?
Reflect on a specific instance where you prioritized human approval or worldly standards over God's guidance. How did this impact your relationship with God, and what changes can you make today to realign with His leadership?
Do This:
Seek security in God.
Pray This:
Father, I come before you with a humble heart, seeking your forgiveness and guidance. Help me embrace repentance, trusting in your mercy and power to restore and bring peace to my life and community. Amen.

Absolutely fantastic video! - "Face challenges with unwavering spirit."
Praise God for establishing justice and mercy among his people! I therefore bind to hell every lack of desire to do right and just towards one another in my life, the lives of my family, friends, colleagues, neighbours, acquitances, opponents, the body of Christ and in the lives of the children I teach while binding one to desire to do right and justice to one another at all times, binding to hell every unequal yoke and common share with anyone lacking to desire to do right and justice to one another or me, in accordance with this word and proverbs 21:3, 2 corinthians 6:14-18 in the name and blood of Jesus Christ, amen and hallelujah, glory to God ❤!
Amen
Good message.

Repentance, humbleness and submission to the promptings of the Holy Spirit are the keys to change in our lives as well as others! Good call on the meaning of this passage and the message to God's people this morning!
Awesome word!!
Vince - I did not get my daily devo email the day after this one loaded. Did you get canceled?
I like that info my friends....God and Jesus have given us a wonderful helper...THE HOLLY SPIRIT...❤

Good morning
Powerful and courageous message Vince. Standing in the gap!!
Help us too be courageous father. Enable us to do your works and will and give us your strength to carry it out
Do not be afraid stand for what you believe and we will follow you. There are plenty of Jonathan's out there willing to stand by you. I've been ostracized by my church because I stand up this. But it matters not to me because it matters to God. I will have to stand before God and say that I did this. Can I prefer the condemnation that comes with it. Then the disappointment. That would follow when God gave me something to share and didn't do it. You have to be brave enough to stand up and call the truth the truth. Because just at that moment the right person will hear it and their life will change for eternity. Is it worth the ridicule the shunning is it worth the ostracizing. Yes because in the end we helped one more person achieve eternity. Do not give up fence. And even if they dispose of us. The reward is greater than the penalty for what men think. Because in the end it is only important what God thinks and that we made our calling an election sure. We chose the promise of God over the tangibility of men
Amen Brother!
Better to be cancelled by men and loved by God!
Thank you 🔥🙏🏽
🔥🔥🔥
Great resource thanks Vince
God first in all things
When I make His will be done my willingness to be done I live a life of connection and meaning and that’s soooo much more than I acquired in my wasted years! New life and a better tomorrow today
Absolutely correct!!
Spot On Sir. I’ll be back tomorrow! Keep on delivering God’s Truth please.
Amen! It is time for us as the people who are called by His name to return and humble ourselves, and pray, and seek His face and turn from our wicked ways. Then He will hear and heal our land. 2 Chron 7:14
Vince thanks for being a steadfast warrior

I am tired of being wishy washy let me give up this anxiety of having to be in control let me give it up to you God. I want you to take control through me because alone I am just a sinner. Help keep realize what it truly means to be a man of you! Even though I can’t see you or hear you help me to have the faith that you are there pushing me to be the Man, husband, father, son that I should be.
Thank you Vince, God bless and keep you!
RIGHT ON!
No canceling needed, just Good words heeded….Father help repair my rifts and stop my drifts. Come and camp over us
Awesome, Vince!
Feel like the blue brothers people? We’re on an assignment….an assignment by God
What are truly powerful Revelation that is a reality God's spirit lives within us. Just like the ark lived in this gentleman's home. For decade and we need to live a life worthy of having God's presence in our home can I please ask you to pray for Seth he needs encouragement thank you so much for the lesson
The altar call is definitely something that I have missed seeing in churches these days. Great message as always brother!
The truth is we are righteous through Jesus and have acknowledged our sin and him as lord. The unrighteous are those who havent acknowledged they are sinners and not just commit sin but glorify it. They also dont believe or acknowledge Jesus or what he did on the cross. We often wonder why the unrighteous ones (as ive described) seem to always win and succeed in life but my guess is they accepted the offer Jesus turned down in the desert.
I was in my kitchen alone, realizing my pain and stress lied in the passion I had for the system I was building for the Army and that passion needed to be for the Lord.
As a listless 18 year old, I committed my life to Christ to live a life of service to others and put them above myself (Philippians 2). 25 years later, still serving others.
😂! But in all seriousness, 👌👊!
One, became a Stephan’s minister and a listening ear to the church family and second after thirty years plus of drinking and drugs I’m stepping up and leading a primary purpose group of recovery. I ended up loosing my marriage of twenty years plus but I’ve rec entered my priorities in His word and will and not my own.. thank you Jesus for this new life in You!!
How?? How in every single day that I need to hear the correct words the uplifting eye opening words… every single time I find it in these videos
