Yes, indeed, very sad not to be able to partake visually in that holy moment of a new beginning for the new and old choristers and interim music Director. However, as the service progressed I realised once again that the Spirit of God was present there regardless of the technical issues. And I Pray it will be resolved in time for the Sunday Eucharist tomorrow. May God bless the live stream technicians.😇

Pity there was no video of the choir - hopefully the technical problems will be fixed by Monday's evensong

How sad that this once great Cathedral has turned into a platform for wokery with its women ‘priests’, irreverent vestments and rainbow patterned altar frontal. No wonder so many people are leaving the Church of England and converting to Catholicism

Such a lovely choir to listen to today! Deeply felt and most sincere voices of all ages singing in beautiful tone while covenying what is holy. Could you please if all possible give us some more information about the Sanderstead Singers beyond coming from Surrey? I truly enjoyed their participation in Evensong today. The name Sanderstead rings a Norwegian etymology bell in my ear. I may be wrong. I think it is a blessing to Winchester Cathedral to have invited this visiting choirs. They blend perfectly. Peace.

Very moving service, Gary was such a kind genuine person and he will be greatly missed.

Such a moving and powerful service in so many ways. What a life, impact, and legacy Canon Gary left for so many of us, more people than I think Gary could have ever known. I attended Easter Sunday service this year at the Cathedral and made sure to receive a blessing specifically from Canon Gary as I don't often get the chance to go in person for worship. I am so grateful that I was able to do that. Rest in peace Canon Gary 🙏

Such a Wonderful Service. Gary Christened our Rachael, and later when she joined All Saints Fawley Church Choir at aged 7, he taught her to sing. From there she then joined Southern Cathedral Singers, Love Soul Choir, then Madison Heights Soul Band. Because of him Rachael learned of the Joy of Singing, at aged 16 years, was one of the top 25 Supranos with the RSCM. We are truly grateful to Gary for opening up a whole World of Singing to her, because of him, Rachael still sings today. She finds it the most wonderful thing in the world to do. Thankyou May You Rest In Peace Gary 🕯

What do Lay Vicars do outside of Cathedral musical duties? Why are they not shown like the choristers being trained?

I am so saddened and shocked by the news of Rev Gary's passing. He was just brilliant in everything he did, from singing, to playing the guitar or piano, so talented. Such a lovely man will be missed by so many. RIP friend Gary.

He was a light in the world.

Absolutely shocking and devastating news. Gary's faith, warmth, humanity and humour shone brightly every time he was part of a service. Gary was a hugely reassuring presence in services and in his short CZcams contemplations. I was so glad to finally meet him for the first time in person last month, he was such a lovely friendly man. I'm praying for him and for his family and friends, it was a beautiful act of remembrance for Gary today and such a lovely tribute from his son Craig. Rest in Peace and Rise in Glory, Canon Gary, and thank you for bringing Christ's light so wonderfully into the world ✝️

RIP Canon Gary. I know there was a short rememberence service earlier, but would there be an Evensong to remember Canon Gary too? He was always so good with leading Evensong and is one of the things I remember Canon Gary for.

I feel so shocked, upset and saddened to hear this news. Canon Gary was brilliant. I really valued all of Gary's pastoral teachings both online and at services. He always led Evensongs so beautifully with his singing voice in particular. Sending prayers and condolences to all those affected at the cathedral and to Canon Gary's loved ones. RIP Canon Gary.
