Hi buddy, yeah been 2 and a half years for me now and still miss her dreadfully. They are a part of the family and you're 100% right that people without dogs don't understand the attachment. You've had some beautiful dogs and milo is no exception, and the mischievous side is the best part of their character 😁😁 It's easy to blame yourself but these little bundles of naughtiness are master of deception and escape.❤ We haven't had another dog yet, still can't bring myself to admit that my miley has gone (after over 2 years 🤦‍♂️). There's a reason they only live a short life, and that's because they burn themselves out giving the power of love to the family that cares for them. That's such a sad story. I can never have a dog...

Doing that job I did for all those years, it hardens you up towards death. I didn't bat an eyelid at having to tell someone that their mum, dad, son daughter etc had died. Taking my dog to the vets to have them put to sleep really tears me up, it's feckin horrible. They trust you 100% going into that vets with you, that's the worse part. I had very similar to you years ago with one of my German Shepherds. I went out to the car to get something out of the boot. I left the door open as I always did, as the dogs had never gone out there when they weren't supposed to. This time, he spotted my daughters coming towards the house but on the other side of the road. He ran out straight in front of a car. He never went under it but it sent him somersaulting down the road, screaming in pain. By the time I got to him, he was up but still screaming in pain. Multiple fractures but made a full recovery after a few ops. My fault completely. Yes they're a pain in the arse sometimes, wouldn't be without them. I'll be in that situation again soon, my current GSD has a massive tumour in his throat that is inoperable. He's comfy for the time being, but the minute it effects him, I'll have to do that nasty deed again🥹

I grew up with dogs but have never had one as an adult because I understand how much work they are. I'll love one though. I think I'm ready but I have a cat.

Huge difference. That's my only gripe with the KTM, it sounds like a tractor on film. Wonder if a cat delete might improve 🤔

You certainly do get a stunning view from up there but it's not the sort of place you'd want to get stuck on your own for sure. Definitely wouldn't want to take a 1250 or 1300 up there, not considering how much they enjoy a good lie down. I spotted a similar road locally but I'm sure it'll be Private, I might enquire to the Land owner to see if permission might be granted.

I'm glad you all had a good time at the festival, apart from your little moment 😰 I wonder if it was down to dodgy catering or just over indulgence 🤔 Your right it doesn't make sense to ride all that distance, especially if your not using the bike while your there. Bitten by the Dark Side Bug, have a swatch at the new GSA1300 it looks like a 60's ice-cream freezer mated with a 70's table top lighter. It's owners won't need to fit crash bars, their well splayed knees will do the job just fine 😂

Great summary of the show. I believe Exeter Rider uses his van to visit ABR and he's only a couple of hours from Ragley Hall, so..... I have not read Elspeth's book, but will do. The appeal to me of the Overlander Event is the massive number of presentations. I saw some superb presenters and bought some of their books as a result. I think it's good that ABR are now asking some of those folk to present, as their stories are absolutely fascinating, especially when you see the bikes they travelled on.

Haha... I superglued my finger back together when I sliced it open, if it works, it works. Def a good idea fitting armour. Some of my kit, the hip armour can be quite uncomfortable as it doesn't suit the riding position on some bikes, but is ok on others. well worth having still though. The ABR was amazing, and super cool to run in to you, shame we didn't get to hang longer. I'll see you there next year no doubt! 😀
