Lipadi is a private game and wilderness reserve. Located on the northern bank of the Limpopo River in Tuli Block, southeastern Botswana. The project was completed in April 2014, this video displays the airtstrip in November 2018. The airstrip is still in perfect condition, over 4 year later with absolutely NO maintenance ! Having already invested a significant amount in the initial road construction required to transport the 365 wind turbines throughout the 250 km wind farm, the roads now required an upgrade. In total 1095 blades spanning 55m and 365 tower measuring 36m travelled the gravel roads....

Traditionally the depth of influence of standard steel drum, sheep’s foot or grid rollers have a depth of influence in the region of 50 to 200 mm’s, therefore limiting the maximum amount of material that can be processed in a given period of time. The incorporation of Dynamic Compaction delivers a high-energy impact force of up to 25 kJ in pressure which is vertically placed on the surface of the in situ soil with a depth of influence of up to 2 m or more while improving the sub-grade material by shearing the particles and increasing soil density which will prevent ingress of water which is one of the primary causes of sub grade settlement.

Soil Solutions provided a much needed and very important solution for this airstrip - they worked with us through the entire process from initial site assessment to proposals, delivery logistics, the runway preparation and the application of EBS as a Surface Seal - the results far surpassed our expectations . The project was closely monitored with on site testing performed before, during and after . The post project testing conducted by Cessna has resulted in jet aircraft being approved for landing and a re-classification of the airstrip - it has been over a year now and it is still in perfect condition .
