However, I have often wondered why "Pepe" didn't release any solo studio albums in late 1970's - early 1980's when he was actively playing in his new group, "The Airwaves" circa 1976 when Juan de la Cruz Band was on temporary hiatus - "The Airwaves" Joey "Pepe" Smith, Jun Lopito, Gary Perez, Gil Cruz, & Edmond "Bosyo" Fortuno & later played in Juan de la Cruz offshoot band - "Speedway" Joey "Pepe" Smith, Mike Hanopol, Wally Gonzalez, & Edmond "Bosyo" Fortuno To my knowledge, in late 1970's the only Joey "Pepe" Smith official release is a vinyl 7" 45 single - "Sa 'Yo" backed with "Summer Wind" (Blackgold Records, 1978) & "Dr. Quack" released on an unofficial bootleg compilation vinyl LP entitled "Pinoy Rock"... However, Mike Hanopol released 4 solo studio albums between 1977-1980... and even the "quiet Juan" Wally Gonzalez released 2 solo studio albums in 1977 and 1978...

In a way, it's a shame Speed, Glue and Shinki, never got back again for a reunion album or just for a Concert or two. That band is the definition of heavy rock, before people even used to call it heavy rock, or Stoner rock, heavy metal or punk rock. Or what have you, it's called all kinds of things today and it dosent matter. all that matter is the sound, the style. They did it back in 71', and they played loud, slow and heavy as fuck! They were cool, and the sound was so low end, it's crazy when you listen to and realize how warm, and fuzzy that electric guitar and bass feels, and their analog way of recording with all it's level of depth and soul. Despite that album's legendary status, it was never an high budget production. It has that garage Wibe to it, which i think was something i personally always found myself drawn to from an early age. I wished they would have done more material.
