Best gold wing video
Your video saved my night. I was in another town on my recently purchased 2007 GW, ate dinner & came out to a dead battery. Called a nearby parts store, took an Uber there & back, replaced the previous owner’s Walmart Ever Start w/ an AGM battery (not that I had choice 20 minutes before they closed) & didn’t have to leave my bike on a city street overnight. Thank you!!!
Glad I could help! Thank you for watching.
Great video…can’t thank you enough! 👍🏻😄
Glad you liked it! Thank you for watching.
Question from Brazil, anything about timing belt?
That is only an issue on the 1500. The 1800 has timing chains and do not have the problems of the timing belts on the 1500.
If buying a 1500, you should see the maintenance history of the timing belts. If they have not been changed, you need to have them changed.

I replaced my suspension with the progressive suspension… No more blown shocks for life…
How many miles are to many on the 2015 to 2017? It will be my first one and I want to start with a used one.
Too many miles is price dependent. These bikes have gone over 150 to 200,000 miles with regular maintenance. If you can find one with less than 20,000 miles on it that would be a steal. I would not be afraid of a properly maintained bike with 40,000 miles if the price works for you.
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Glad the video helped!
The metal Ford skid plate is about $160 from the Ford dealer. Great improvement over the cardboard one and provides some security for cats. With a Fumoto drain valve, never have to unbolt it. Flip the lever, drain, flip the lever back.
😎🤙
I was here in January of this year. Missed the winter storm going on at home. I miss it.
Great video. Thank you! 👍

Nice video. But, that is not a skid plate. It's job is to help with aerodynamics.
But the Raptors metal replacement is a skid plate, correct?
@@d2destinations106 Yes Sir.
Do the 2012-2017 models have a gear shift indicator? If so, where is it located at? Thank you!
Do the pre 2018 models have a gear shift indicator? If so, where is it located at? Thank you!
No, but OD will light up when you are in 5th gear (Over Drive)
I just bought me a 1986 Gl 1200 interstate. The gold wing is the best motorcycle ever manufactured in the history of motorcycle manufacturing.
I just bought a 2003 GoldWing, here in Brazil, with 65k miles. I went to pick it up 500 km from my house and arrived driving the motorcycle. I previously had a Harley Ultra Classic and found the GoldWing to be very smooth and quiet. I appreciate your explanations and you have gained an enthusiastic subscriber.
Thank you for subscribing, you were going to love your Goldwing!
I'm in between scooters now, but I've had two Wings. Honda said years ago they should be capable of a million miles. I know I won't make that but it's nice to know they're that reliable. I've seen some at half that.

Great tips and suggesstions. I am not into having the tech items on my scooters and may try some someday. But the sidestand and boot tips are great points. I bought a throw-down option for the stand, but I like that slip on piece.
I think I've ridden most engine sizes in the series prior to the 2012 platform. I've owned a 1500 and 1800. My 1800 was the '09 and part of the final build from the States. Wingers probably know the 09-10 models were done together with color options being the only difference. I'm chewing on another one. Great Wing report, thanks.
Thanks for this primer video. Right on point! All my bikes been standard or sport touring ( 94 katana 750). Looking at a 92 or 94 GL1500 right now after 15 yr hiatus.
Best of luck in your search. I know you’ll find the right one for you. Ride safe!
I know from Honda mechanics that I’ve spoken with, the GL1500 had maintenance issues that were a bear to deal with. I have a 2015 Anniversary Edition that has been a tremendous bike for me. I can get $200 worth of groceries in the bags and the tank can carry me 220 miles. It isn’t quite as far as my older ST 1300s but it sits easier on the ground and is plenty quick for an old man of 77. How have the new forks held up since 2018? It looks like a complicated piece of gear.
I purchased my 2010 GL1800 in July of 2017. After riding it just a a couple of months I was sick of the factory suspension. I started researching suspension upgrades and came across Traxxion Dynamics CZcams videos and was absolutely sold and aggravated that Honda did such a lousy job on the suspension. I had Traxxion Dynamics "Full Monty" (F/R suspension, neck bearings, fork brace and protectors) upgrade done and it was ABSOLUTELY night and day difference. You could tell a difference before you got out of the parking lot. I set out straight away to the Tail of the Dragon. Their system turns it into a GL1800ST...as in Sport Tourer. The bike felt 300 lbs. lighter and rode and handled remarkedly better. It was worth every penny. Not only that but with the rear upgrade your passenger will no longer be getting that shock to the tailbone that goes with factory rear suspension when it bottoms out. TD's system totally does away with that and makes spring adjustments entirely different. I ride it set at 10 solo and 12 with passenger and gear. My final say is that there is no way that I would ever compromise the handling of my GL1800 by going darkside. I have a friend that boasted that his handled fine with the car tire and said he could do anything I can with my bike. We took off into the mountain roads and within a few miles he was not even visible in the rearview mirror except on the longest straight aways. He has since scrapped the car tire and is going to get TD's system installed on his.
Great testament to a great product. Thank you for sharing your experience, it is appreciated!
Im picking up a 2001 GL1800 on Friday. Where are yo getting power to the quad lock snd iPhone. Im Not syre if there is a power socket in the left storage area. Thank you.
You may have to add a power socket in that left storage compartment.
I ride a 22 HD Street Glide and I can tell you that Goldwing is a very well made bike. That being said it has no soul and its not fast at all. very unsteady at slow riding. still, it is a comfortable bike.
At 71 I have gotten the GW bug, however, I'm wanting to buy a trike, now the age that I'm at and not all that stout in the legs any more I feel I would have trouble holding a bike up where as the trike I don't have to worry myself with that and enjoy the ride. I've just been watching GoldWing videos all over CZcams; sadly their isn't alot of people out there that own the GW trike that makes videos. Enjoyed your video, sub'ed and liked, motor safe. 🏍
Thank you for your comments, I will be on the lookout for more Goldwing trikes to include in future videos.
I bought a 2005 goldwing 30 year anniversary edition with 16, 000 miles on it for $6500 last week. Absolutely love it. What do you think about fueling with 92 non ethanol gas?.
Run 87, unless you are going to store it for months.
@@d2destinations106 Thank you. I appreciate the info.
@@TonyH-jm6kli have a 2006 and ran 1 tank of ethanol-free for an increase of 1 mpg. Not worth the extra unless you’re storing it for the winter
I bought a 2007 brand new and still have it. Still rides like new. I've used 87 octane since new and never never never had any fuel related issues . 87 all the way.
Surprised the windshield doesn’t operate smoothly on that Goldwing. 900 lbs.? My current bike is less than half that wet. I think my next bike might be a BMW or Ducati sport touring bike.
Man, you nailed it. My 15’ is just superb. My third year with her. In 20 years of riding, I’ve never had better. TY
So glad to hear you are enjoying it!
I have the F6B and I love it, I am an old guy. BTW you look like my dad.
So I got my first 2010 Goldwing about five years ago from a brother of a close friend that had passed away. He offered to me at a pretty good price and I wasn’t really interested in it, but I figured from the sentimental value point of view, I would get it and bring it out to my second home out in Colorado. Well, it never left my home state Florida because I absolutely fell in love with it. I loved it so much that I end up buying another 2010 Goldwing that only had 6300 miles on it and I leave that one in Colorado. Goldwing is a fantastic bike with very little maintenance issues.
Hi John here I test drove a 2015 goldwing wow be my next bike goldwings I like are from 2001 to 2010 then 2012 to 2017
Simply beautiful and such a wonderful place for family to come together 😊👍
It really is!
I have a color matching Bushtec with my GL1800. It's a well built trailer and you can inflate the springs to match the load. Great product! 👍
I'm 54 and just bought my first Wing last summer. My only regret is that I didn't get one sooner!! I've had tons of other makes and models but none compare in nearly all categories. I had a friend that made fun of me for getting my geezer wheels when I bought it. Guess what he just bought, yup, you guessed it, a wing for himself. He sure did eat his words. LOL 🤣🤣Anyone that thinks they are no fun hasn't ridden one yet. It's fun to watch their faces when they return from riding one for the first time. 😛👍
I am relatively new to goldwings, I have an 05 gl1800. Beastly to handle at low speed but the smoothest engine I've had the pleasure of.
What about the 2004
I have both the original dji mic system and the new Mic 2 and I have used the TRS tascam lavalier in both with no issues . FYI .. Great video though Thanks
Younger guy (30) with a 2005 gl1800 here in the UK. Whilst I love my goldwing, it is a real handful at low speeds compared to my other bikes. If you cant stop with the front wheel straight you're in real trouble (tight turns, parking lots, drivers stopping suddenly in front of you). It forces you to be a better rider and anticipate the actions of others.
THANK YOU FOR ZOOMING IN AND SHOWING THE LATCH UNDER THE HOOD!!!!!!
You are welcome, glad it helped!
Mate, great stuff , greetings from Australia.
Hey, thanks!
Hi john here what year is your goldwing be my next bike test drove a 2015 honda goldwing wow loved it
2002, love it!
87 octane is actually a better gasoline. The higher octanes have retardant put in them so they wouldn’t ignite prematurely. Without the increased compression, the higher octane is actually worse. In fact cars with premium requirements can use 87 octane unless you are going up hills or stomping on the gas pedal. If you live in Florida or other flat state and drive conservatively, you can do fine on 87 octane… IMHO
Thank you for making this video. I couldn't open the hood, until I saw your video! haha
Armed with the information that you have pass to me; I will go ahead and buy myself a Toyota Corolla!!!!! (Since I can't afford a MB E350)
Nicely done!!!
Thank you.
