Hi Your videos are an inspiration my friend, no fluff just real world as it is stuff, no over the top hi end power tools, love it. A video on how you price up for jobs would be interesting, if that is something you would share at some point? anyway keep it up Thumbs up from the UK
I need this for a interior door fram the people said 70 bucks just to look at it I’m about to just buy the tools myself I like to learn
I’m sorry to hear that. I never charge just to look at things. If you send them a photo and they can’t quote you a price I would find someone else or you could always try doing it my way it’s not that hard.
That was the simplest and clearest description of a hidden bookcase door installation that I have seen. I also like how you created a solution for a working door knob. Thank you.
Excellent video. Thank You. We had a home built in a subdivision that did not offer a model home and I never realized until the finishing work was complete that a door was not standard at the entry into a huge walk in closet. Strange I know. Instead they put a deep arch entry. Fortunately the ceiling height therefore the opening was tall enough that notching or cutting anything on the top or sides was necessary for the frame to fit right in.
Thanks for sharing. Can you share a link to the Metal Weather Seal
Depot and Lowes sell similar products. At the Depot it's called a "Door Set". Proper installation is more valuable than the door itself.

Those rubber door sets don’t work out here in Arizona. The rubber starts to expand and wrinkle making a bad seal. Also if the door is painted the Arizona heat causes the paint to stick to the rubber. I refuse to install the rubber door sets in Arizona anymore.
Where can I get one of those hinge jigs?
I got mine at Leevalley.com . Its called the Carey Template Hinge Mortising System. Be sure to order the associated router bit. Thanks for watching

Yah exactly
First, this is an amazing installation video and I greatly appreciate him doing this. I actually had no idea this was out there and we will use this to make some changes to our instructions based on some of the comments. As I mentioned in one of the comments below, our instructions need some work to highlight some different things. First, you should install EITHER the MINI or the PRO Door Shields on your door, not BOTH. I'm actually surprised that he could get both on the same door. Also, only one of the long screws is supposed to go into the slot on the hinge shields. The holes are made so that ONLY one of the screws will go through one of the holes. Again, I'm surprised that he was able to get both through. The reason for this is that we want to have at least one screw with direct contact to the hinge. We tested this extensively and determined that this would produce the least amount of biding and would give the piece the most strength. Otherwise, we would have made the part with 3 uni-directional slots that would have allowed the screws from hinges with both W and C screw configurations. I sincerely appreciate the thoughtfulness and honesty of your video. Thank you. Alan Young - CEO
Thank you for those excellent clarifications. I've heard some mixed reviews regarding your instructions and videos, but I've not heard any complaints about the actual products. As a door installer for over a decade, I install all kinds of products and it's not uncommon to struggle with something or modify something, so overall, I'd say your product goes in just fine. I'm happy to have provided some helpful feedback. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Nice video! Can you explain how the mini door shields work if there are only screws in the front and not on the side to help if a kick in happen and thanks
Great question. I can't speak for the manufacturer, but I'll make an assumption based on the various break -ins I've fixed. Often with kicked-in doors, the deadbolt blows out the wood section around it, so the face of that shield, holds the deadbolt in place so it can't push through the front of the door. In addition, I think the entirety of the products used act together to strengthen everything. I've never seen one of these actually kicked in or even attempted so I can't give any first hand evidence of their effectiveness, but I do think they strengthen the door and at least make it more difficult to break. Thanks for watching
@@NashvilleDoorCompanyPeter thanks for the quick reply
No one would notice the huge door lever, or the book sitting sideways on a “hidden door”!
Actually somebody would notice such a thing and that's why I mentioned in the video that the client planned to install something more discreet in the future. Thanks for watching.
Nice video! Thanks 😊
Thanks for watching!
Where can I buy this kit for 1 door?
Very creative and nice work!
Thank you so much for watching
Thanks for explaining that so clearly!
Very welcome and thanks for watching. Much more to come
Yes they need to adjust the placement for the pry shield screws, almost like the designers have never installed the product...
Agreed. Thanks for watching
He is actually installing the pry shields wrong. Only one screw is supposed to go through the Hinge shield. The other long screw goes directly into the hinge. We actually have the slots made that way so people do not try to put both screws through both holes. We would have made the slots parallel, if we wanted two screws to fit through the holes. I love installing doors Monday will be my 3rd set in about 10 days. They were all cased openings that I tore out and made jambs and hung slabs. I’m proud of you man and excited to see a channel about door repair etc.
Hey Chris and thanks for watching. Glad to hear you're doing well with doors. In one month I'll be launching a door only channel with over 100 door videos that will take your skills to new heights. Stay tuned for more.
I’m always willing to learn. I am currently billing out $3,500 labor only to install double doors. $3,500-$4,000 for a standard entry door for labor. $600-$900 per storm door labor only.
thanks for this. I learnt something new!
The terms are used interchangeably, but I just wanted to let people know. Thanks for watching
You did a good job buddy. Don’t be nervous to show good to know tips💪🏾
I would have taken a little off both stems instead of making one shorter and less secure. I'm not a locksmith eirher but I am a retired electrical technician and I understand a little about mechanical physics as well and the main reason this happens is because the door is actually too thin which is really easy to kick in so exactly how secure is any of this? HaHa just saying bro if you're going to make this kind of content be prepared to have civil conversations. We learn from others but teach ourselves. Keep on it...
You're absolutely right and I wanted to grind the other side, but if you look closely, there's a part of the lock that was in the way and would make it challenging. Sounds like you know tools and I'm sure you understand how easily an angle grinder can bump and run . I appreciate your attention to detail. Thanks for watching.
This was good thank you
So its made for a somewhat thicker door? Or is meant to be installed differently? Either way I sure hope your design change didnt damage your locks integrity
Those spindles come with perforated marks where they can be cut for the proper length. The distributor prepped them for the homeowner and even those it was done correctly, it was just a tad too long and the modification worked just fine. Thanks for watching.
