Dirty Loops - Circus - Drum Cover
This is the second drum cover of the new "Broken" series. "Broken" denotes the state my current set-up is in. My sticks seem to break every few weeks, the drum heads are ripped apart way too frequently, my cymbals do not trigger when they should and so on. The perfect time to not think too much about playing the perfect note in a perfect timing, but rather to go back to what truly matters: enjoying myself when playing music. That's what this series is all about: you will encounter more than a few badly played notes, but my goal is simply to enjoy myself - and hopefully it will make others realise that enjoying yourself is much more important than "playing the right note". Also, I am wearing my old leisure shoes. They are the perfect shoes for drumming. And they are awesome.

Not to sound harsh, but I feel like the physical dynamics you were drumming with the electronic kit allowed you to get away with, whereas it would come out very different on an acoustic kit. Still a solid job, I’d just try to realize how hard and how you’re actually physically hitting each note.

Hey man nice video, awesome playing! I'm really curious, how did you get the sound to be recorded like this? I'm trying to get recordings from my roland but haven't figured out how to.
Jonnathan Singh Most if not all Roland drums have two options if you want to record. 1. MIDI 2. Through an audio interface. I record with a Tascam US-122 mk II. So TD9 -> audio OUTPUT -> cable -> Tascam interface audio INPUT -> connected to laptop through USB. I then record everything with Cubase and "mix" with Adobe Soundbooth.
Bram Vanroy Thanks for the quick well written reply! Have you ever used a splitter and just get one output from the splitter ito your headphones and the other to your computer? I'm trying to find a cheap option. I'm assuming the US-122 allows you to have two separate outputs so you can also hear yourself while you play.
Jonnathan Singh Well the way that I record I don't need a splitter. It's a bit of a hassle, but it gets the job done: when I first record my playing, I use the TD9's built-in "Record" function. Then, after recording, I replay what I've just recorded BUT I do so when plugged in to the Tascam. I do so because then I can record the drums without the song, making post-production a lot easier.

delphine claes Nee, ik doe zo goed als al m'n covers op het gehoor. Als je nog een beginner bent, of je kan echt niet aan een stuk uit, dan kan je altijd naar partituren of tabs zoeken.
