Wuthering Heights has been my favorite book since I read it in high school. Harry Potter is my favorite series, though. Can't imagine anything ever topping that one for me. So many of my other favorites made this list too like Jane Eyre, Rebecca, and Frankenstein!

You talking about Tom Bombadil reminded me of some really old discussion about how the infamous HP fanfic My Immortal had to be written badly on purpose because it actually mentions the character Tom Bombadil, hence the writer read the books and is clever enough to add a reference to him. I don't remember the details much but that was the first time I'd heard of the character so it stuck with me.

If you loved "100 years of solitude" you should try "no one writes to the colonel". Garcia Marquez said that this short story was his best work , that he had to write 100 years of solitude so people would find no one writes to the colonel. Also in magic realism Elena Garro is a great author

I've read Lord of the Rings after Silmarillion and I had a somewhat specific headcanon that Tom Bombadil is Manwë (the Vala of winds and the lord of the eagles) who gave up on his poor ruling in Valinor and decided to move to Middle-earth to witness things with his own eyes. Anyways, I'd love to watch you reading Silmarillion at some point, but this book is quite demanding in terms of collecting additional information on every tiny detail... Ah, I need to reread it myself!

I CANNOT believe that this comes across my CZcams at this time! Every summer I start up my Lord of the Rings obsession since last year when I read the Hobbit for the first time in my life. Now I’m reading the Fellowship of the Rings for the first time and I am obsessed beyond any physical grounds. This video has to be a sign, laugh out loud… also, there’s a CZcams channel called “Hoard of the Rings” that has absolutely wonderful LOTR audiobooks (songs included). Oh my goodness, I’m obsessed and so happy. Happy reading!

I recommend listening to The Tolkien Ensemble with Christopher Lee to hear some of the songs performed! The hobbit ones are especially fun!

I read The Hobbit in middle school in the late 70's. Loved it. I then read the LotR trilogy shortly thereafter. My life of reading took off from there.

I adore Samwise. He is the real hero in the movies so I am enjoying the comparison as I read. Smeagol was kinda sneaky even before the ring. The book makes him less likeable to me.
