Allison Ponthier - Cowboy (The Rooftop at Pier 17, NYC 7/27/24)
I had previously seen Allison Ponthier perform on stage as a special guest at a Lord Huron show a few years back. She sung together with Ben the song "I Lied" and it was beautiful. I had always been interested but did not get a chance to look into her music until the morning of this show. Everything I heard was great and it got me even more excited to see her opening for The Japanese House. This acoustic set was perfect and has me excited to see Allison again in the future. Being that she currently lives in NYC, I guess this made it a home turf gig!
Allison's latest EP "Breaking the Fourth Wall" came out this year be sure to give it a listen and support her work!

Only my friend and I were front row for Clairo. We ditched as soon as her set ended. The crowd sucked hard, so much pushing, shoving, and the girl next to me got molested.

      I had a voice recorder app running on my phone from the moment I walked in the door and dropped my phone in the pouch. Not the best quality but I didn't want to risk bringing my microphone and getting turned down at the door. I just trimmed out the nearly two hours we were waiting around before the show haha. I had no idea if my phone had run out of battery or not until I got my phone back at the end of the night. Luckily it only drained about 25% battery.

      @@123gregery The few times I've met her, she's usually kinda distracted chatting and catching up with friends. Though she's been nice enough to sign my vinyl and I've gotten some Polaroid portraits of her outside the venue. I never felt like I got her full undivided attention at the time, but that could just be me. I get it, she's in New York and probably has lots of friends she's trying to catch up with in a very short time before moving off to the next tour city. I don't hold anything against her, maybe that's her personality, not as gushing towards fans and that's ok! Music is still fire.

      I think she was just performing it more seriously and sticking to choreography and such. This was the album release show for Be The Cowboy. I feel like it was part of the act.
