My game playing came about with my first Atari 2600 and Asteroids. Now in my later age I still enjoy gaming and working on vehicles. Just glad to have my videos watched and channel grow. The good old Ford Motorcraft oil filter does not disappoint in it's construction, built the way all filters should be built across the board. I wish this much care was taken with there light truck and car line of filters.

I always wanted one of these pressure testers but got by without one. Sure makes the job a lot easier when you can see where the coolant leak is exactly. And as you will see it helps me twice to find leaks in the cooling system. Ruichen 18 pc pressure test kit B09CD32SFW Bought from Amazon.

I replaced the leaking Water pump and now the Coolant is still leaking in different spot.Lets find the leak and I will use Dexcool again as coolant.
New Protec oil filter Review

I ordered this filter for a vehicle I was going to change the oil in for a friend and noticed it was different than the previous Protec I reviewed years ago. This filter is made by Wix/ Mann Hummel with differences that made it pretty cheap. Some bad things or technically a bad thing has made this filter a no buy for me. You will figure it out.

I'm not sure if I described why the Patriot and Compass have starting problems sometimes. It's the relays decaying in the harness and the pins and relays must be changed in the harness to fix that condition. Hope this helps.

I really did not remember what filter was in the old Ford, I was actually surprised that it was a Denso oil filter. Thought I might of had a Champ or Wix in there. Guess I got that one at a good price, it looks like it did a good job.

The headlights that were on the Old Ford were not to bright at night driver. Found this out last year on mountain roads at night in Duck mountains park. Time for an upgrade. Generally it is an easier job than I make it look. Water pump fit exactly the way it should, pretty sure the water pump I removed was a Chinese make also. Water pump bulbs were 12mm and Pulley bolts were 10 mm. The video cuts off at the end because my camera got hot and I lost some footage.

The G6 needs a water pump so I found one that will fit. Cheaper than anything else I could round up on Amazon. Hopefully it will not be a disaster for me.

My secret is I like Parts Master, I can get them relatively cheap and where I get them they are usually made by Champ labs. These filters though were used to there max , 1 was over its limit of life. Enjoy the video.

the media looks like the new Fram ultra, dual layers, I found a kitten with an eye infection too, and I bought some Terramycin Antibiotic Ointment for the eye from Amazon and it worked well.
Thanks Bud, that eye ointment is exactly what we are using. It seems to be getting better already. And that oil filter was a surprise to me to be built that good.
Looks good Bill... That filter has actually been superseded by the fl2124 to extend the oil change cycle... My guess is that they lowered the micron rating in the newer one so that it's not as efficient to keep it flowing over an extended period of time... (Lessened the quality)

In asia we have denso cool gear oil filter which is made in china.
That's an interesting filter, gear lube filter, must catch a lot of contaminants.😉

Motorcraft filters are premium filters imo. That bypass on the top is the best design. Prevents oil mixing with the debris in thr pleats if it goes into bypass. Thr holes in the tube are good but the nylon tube on champ labs provides the best flow.
I like the e core design tubes also. The Ford filters look like a decent filter.
Well how about thailand made honda oil filter. The oe no 15400-RAF-T01. I've never seen someone made a video to review the internal of the oil filter.

Wow, of course they clean up their act after I already ordered 3 Mobil 1 filters on rock auto a day ago. I was going to buy a bunch of Motorcraft filters but didn’t because of the previous glue issues.

You used too much. WAYYY too much. It's just silicone emulsified by petroleum distillate. Similar to Rain X silicone emulsified by alcohol. Turtle Wax Ice is a cleaner like pink crystal glaze or cleaner wax... but with silicone as the coating. Body shops did NOT like having to remove it prior to painting. The stuff is certainly not a polish, as it does not have any cutting compound in it. It's just a silicone glaze, basically. I miss it. Used it for door jambs. Was perfect for them.

yah this is a 5k filter, I bought 3 of them recently, they all had plastic wrap over the end my cars use the equitant to fram 6607 or 7317. its a decent filter, better then fram

good video but I with you showed or at least pointed at what you had cleaned the at the end there. my son just bought one of these motors and we couldn't get it running off gas only starting fluid. could be the same fix?
That darn carburetor has a float sticking problem and I have to rap it a few times with screwdriver handle every year before it will start. Pain in the butt but it does it all the time.
Simoniz does have the more expensive 9 Piece Platinum Heavy Duty kit that has the adapter to use an electric drill. There is also a sealer included apparently. I wanted to see how well it worked and i thought this was the video and kit but i was wrong. When i went looking again i found out "Platinum" was the key word for the other kit. Why they call them both Heavy Duty? I have never done it before and the ones on my truck are BADLY yellowed. I find these plastic lenses a PIA. I'm really old school and wish mine were glass BUT with the modern shapes i can see that isn't feasible.
Yes the platinum kit has more pieces and sanding discs, along with being able to use a drill. I may try one of those out in a future video.
it is not a Wix base plate it is a Purolator base plate, both Mann+Hummel, to be frank with you I wouldn't use this filter, all this excess glue can find its way through the bypass, and the quality of this filter sucks!
Yes not very good in my books, all that sloppy glue was surprising. Purolator and Wiz both make much better filters. Thanks Bud.👍

The big centre tube is a sales gimmick used by aftermarket brands - it makes the overall filter larger in size which gives the "impression" of more media - there's an interesting SAE paper from 2010 that compares aftermarket oil filters to OE
Thanks Kristian, I have to agree it's a gimmick. That Protec had a lot less filtration than other similar filters. Not a great filter.
Pressure inside a container is even everywhere so the oil would press on that bypass evenly to open, not in a pinpoint like your demo - I don't think it would stick - I'm more alarmed by the glue and thin wall canister - thanks for the review Bill
And I must add that in the filter the bypass is lubed by oil, I still don't like that bypass though.😉

@JdM-ep9on Fram actually has a pretty good bypass, it should I think they are open way to much on Fram. People treat Fram like a use it and forget it filter.

That's a Purolator - the baseplate with six dimples to hold the gasket, the excess glue, louvered centre tube, and the bypass button give it away - there's active product sharing going on within Mann-Hummel now

Those filters are really cheap where I live. Was hoping it was a decent filter, but that bypass valve is a no go from me also. Hopefully you got a one off but probably not.😮

My WIX XP, Purolator One, and Factory KIA Filter (2017 KIA Sorento) was made in South Korea by Mann-Hummel at one of their three manufacturing plant.
That seems about right, I have switched to using Genuine Hyundai/Kia oil filters on my wife's Hyundai since I liked them so much, and a good price at rockauto.
Mom has a Jeep Patriot, but so far hers still starts. Thanks Bill.
