I'm singing this in my 7th grade choir right now, and It's beautiful
I played piano for this for a choir/drama. Speed of light. Tough one
Absolutely GORGEOUS! Thank you for warming my heart!
So delighted to see the children sing this beautiful song, my ancestor Nicholas Orrell lived there in the1400's
This was the first choir song that i didn't sing that made me cry, not out of sadness, but because of how beautiful this song is. i remember that day so clearly. i was in beginning girls choir, 6th grade. the intermediate girls were singing this, while i was watching and also waiting for our turn to perform. they sang the first note and it took my breath away. when the harmony split for the first time i started crying. and all of my friends in beginning girls choir were blown away as well. but this song has stuck with me. i will never forget that feeling i got the first time i listened to this. this song is so powerful. three years later i still get chills every time.
We sang this song several times in my child choir, and even though I was singing, i was crying so hard
I also performed this at Carnegie hall several years ago and I’m glad I can truly appreciate this masterpiece now that I’m in university’s
I see me!!!
our state ensemble sang an arrangement of this and I still sing it years later
Second sopranos are a little quiet
Sung this for Colorado honor choir
I'm singing this in my choir. its so beautiful
Me too
I have competition this week
I'm singing this for all state this year
Brittany campbell were you in the treble choir for KMEA last year?
Holy crap I'm quite sure I see myself
Jesus, this sounds just like our all county choir!
Beautiful
I am in carrickfergus and they are singing the word so weirdly 😂
ashlyn close I think they say it like that for the audience to be able to understand their words and to over pronounce it (diction)
ashlyn close they say it like that cause it's how choirs SHOULD sing. There are 3 voices that my choir teacher taught us. 1. Nasty Bright 2. Middle 3. Overly Dark. Nasty bright is where you don't pronounce the vowels how you should, like saying "BOOOOOOOOO" sounds like "BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEW" Overly dark is where you pronounce the vowels and OMG IT SOUNDS PERFECTO 👌
😻😻😻😻😻
Guy and Candie Carawan did not write this song. They collected it in the Sea islands of South Carolina. It is from the Gullah Geechee folks there.
I remember back in 8th grade singing this for the IMEA Chicagoland Honor Choir. Clear back in the 2011-2012 year. And I was the only girl from my entire middle school from my memory. And honestly, this was my favorite piece in the performance
Beautiful song. well sung by all the young people. Thank you.
Male section needs to work on projecting their voices
Matthew Collier it might be a bit harder since their voices changed recently
So depressing. Come all you young lads and lay me down? I sung this for all state choir.
The song makes me wanna cry. The person who disliked is a cold hearted selfish person.
Niyea Hackney right
Niyea Hackney I also want want to cry because they sung it so perfectly.
You sound stupid
Too late. I’ve cried so many times when I sang this in my children’s choir
Hi there, is it possible to attribute the lyrics of this song to a particular individual, or no? Anyone know?
Oneness RevolUtion Guy and Candie Carawan, who also penned We Shall Overcome-a civil right freedom song, are tributed as gathering the lyrics from southern folksongs.
Wow! Thanks so much for responding. I had given up on ever knowing. This makes my day. :)
I'm singing this in my chamber choir. It's so nice!!
Sing-A-Mile-High was such a great memory. To this day, this is one of my favourite songs.
The memories are coming back to me I miss singing with all these wonderful people. By the way I was from Crystal Children's Choir.
In my opinion, the basses are too quiet.
True. The first melody is lost in places.
Actually, in the music, it says the oboe line is, "loosely based on a song she sang while in the refugee camp."
I'm singin this for Allstate choir
This is wayyy different then what I'm singing....
I'm singing in this concert this year
Peggy McCreary is my music teacher

My choir recently sang a wide range of Paul and Sean's music for a concert. Wonderful men. :) They came down and worked with us on the songs, then performed the songs with us. What an amazing experience!
