I live in Texas in Collin County, I was told point blank by 5 different attorneys that only a few judges will entertain fathers for 50-50 custody and I happened to get a judge who would NOT likely grant 50-50. Christine Nowak, replaced Cindy Wheless in 417th district and her husband, a bailiff in the county was vocally anti-father and so best they knew she was likely the same. I'm a former teacher, I'm a former nurse, I am 100% WFH and never missed any kids activities whatsoever. Yet I was advised by all the attorneys I spoke to not to go to.court as I would not win unless I could prove she is harmful to them. She gives them unlimited iPad time, she drinks often, walks the kids home while drunk from neighbors, but I have nothing on paper I can show to be able to get 50-50, so she gets $3K a month from me (includes health/dental insurance) while she makes $60K more than I do, comes from a family of millionaires, and has her parents paying for her $200K education. The courts are insane. I struggle to find a decent 2-bedroom condo near my kids while she lives in a 3300 sq ft $750K (5.5K a month mortgage) home.

Or hear me out. At least pay an attorney $500 to review the paperwork and advise you of your rights. You are in charge. You can fire your attorney at any time with no penalty and they can't make you do anything you don't want to. $500 now can save you $20,000 later. I've seen people think they had an agreement, but the agreement was unclear. $10,000 later... it would have been a 15 min fix for a decent attorney "write in and both of you initial these 10 words."

I’ve been seeing more and more fathers get custody. But from what hear a lot of them did have to fight in court. They don’t just award it , unless the mother is abusive. On drugs. Or is in jail
