I’m a lefty I got a agile les Paul special one tone one volume in the middle position it was bad I flipped the neck magnets now its the bomb
both are very good.
Great shootout. Great riffs.
the rockerverb is kind of a Quality-of-life upgrade to the JCM isn't it? Similar kind of voicing, but tighter, more gain, in built attentuator, all the things that people compensated for on the JCM in the 80's with an actual attentuator, and an actual boost pedal
Bad ass channel. Glad I found it!!! Bad ass guitar!!!!
laney is better
1:57 this riff is absolutely insane!!!
the key to 8 strings is a bigger scale length. The M80M is 29.4 and feels and sounds amazing! Also string joy you can make custom gauge strings. I'd go atleast with a 90 on the low E on a 27" scale
I own both. This argument is easily ended by asking somebody who knows nothing about guitars to sit down and listen to you play both. They can't tell you which one is more expensive. If care about the name on the headstock and what your guitar friends are going to think, you've already made up your mind. As someone who has played the guitar for about 30 years and in several different bands, the crowd will never know the difference nor will they care. You will get more brags from people on how well you play than you ever will what brand of guitar you play. Buy what you can afford and don't worry about it. An employee at the Gibson Nashville factory usually makes around 18 to $20 an hour. An employee at the Chinese Epiphone factory is making about half that. Gibson gets money regardless of what you buy.
Wow! That is the first time that I have ever heard of that method. I certainly hope you don't use that method when buying guitars. Someone who knows nothing about guitars won't be able to tell you which one feels better. They will generally go with one of 2 things: What looks the coolest or which one is cheaper. Sound can only get you so far... Feel is WAY more important. I have been playing for 30 years as well and you generally learn that it's pretty easy to change how a guitar sounds, but not so easy to fix how a guitar feels. Setups aside. I have always had the same confusion over the argument that "The Crowd/Audience will never know the difference" when it comes to guitars. But audience isn't playing the guitar. You are. The best thing to do is play the guitars for yourself. Play them unplugged and plugged in. Play as many guitars as you can. See which one feels the best, which one you bond with. If you can afford it: Buy it! If not... then keep looking until you find one in your price range. Then you at least know which guitar you want to eventually buy. The name on the headstock shouldn't give you "Street Cred", that's for sure. If you like the epiphone more... awesome. If you like the Gibson more... awesome! If you like something else... awesome! Just get the one that feels the best to you and you can afford. But FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS HOLY!!!!! DO NOT LET SOMEONE WHO KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT GUITAR TELL YOU WHICH ONE TO BUY!!!! Cheers -Ryan
@@Crypticmaskguitar well, I know it's kind of hard to convey what you're saying over a CZcams comment but like I said man, been at this for 30 years. Recorded on albums back in the '90s. My whole point was that it really just doesn't matter. I don't buy guitars anymore. I have more than most people will ever own in their life. I live not too far outside of Nashville, I was invited to play down there in my younger days but I chose my steady day time career instead. Me and my wife don't have any children and we have a lot of financial freedom so we pretty much buy what we want. Why do I tell you all this? Because I really don't think it matters. If you're a good player, that's what people care about. Never during a show have I had somebody come up to me and care about my equipment. They just care how you play. A lot of my point in my previous comment was that they're so similar it really doesn't matter. And truth be told, people don't really care that much about it. People that can afford anything will get the more expensive product. People who cannot afford a Gibson will buy an Epiphone. There's nobody with a high level of income debating on which one to buy. Let's be honest about it.
I'd say it was a really bad point of view to try and get your point across. It really doesn't matter which one you own as long as you like it. Which was the whole point of the video and why I said that at the 1:49 mark. I know people who actually prefer epiphone over gibson (Generally due to their feeling towards Poly over Nitro). To me they have a weird feeling in the neck, but I've always thought I was crazy. I have been playing for 30 years as well, over half of that as a studio guitarist. I have recorded with $200 guitars I have recorded with $10,000 guitars. They all have their place. But price point should never be something to strive for. It's not a badge of honour. It should just be how the guitar feels to you. If the audiences opinion on what gear you are playing is something that comes across your mind... then I'm not sure who your target audience is. About 95% are just there to listen to live music. So absolutely you are right: It doesn't matter. Buy the one that feels best to you. Cheers -Ryan
The sound is so well produced they sound very alike. I bet if you just plugged each into a Fender Princeton raw you’d hear a minor difference though. But the feel of the Gibby is definitely better imop.
Bourbon Burst, right? I got mine yesterday, it batters my 2016 Standard, wonderful guitar
The Pre-2019 Standards were more akin to the current Classic, but lighter. They did use heavier stock mahogany, though. Cheers -Ryan
Sounds badass bro. Keep it up! 🤘🤠💪
It's OCD clone :)
i have same amp i love it in fact i want another that sounds as good will the 100 watt model sound the same ? anyone have both jcm 2000 dsl 50 and 100 ? if so can you hear a difference in tone between the two? i currently have 3 marshall heads the jcm 2000 dsl 50 the dsl 100 hr and the jcm 900 mark 3 50 watt i have decided to get rid of the 900 and the hr 100 to get another jcm 2000
Funny that i really like flying V especially gibson style but i hardly played metal, at least now. Metallica phase has come far gone and now i'm in a funk band but man i still want that flying V and i don't care what people say that "flying v only belongs in metal". I'd put out the funkiest and grooviest riff on that thing if i had one 😂
I know these are a rarity nowadays, as Hamer doesn't exist anymore, but I'm really in the market to buy a second-handed one. I've had my heart set on XT standard korina (I found a guy selling a standard red one for a great price, but it's just not my cup of tea color-wise), so can anyone tell me which price point would be reasonable for these models?
Honestly… a Non-Korina model would be $250-350. Korina would really depend. Some people read Korina and will try insane prices. They would probably go for what a Korina Epiphone explorer would go for on the used market: $400-500. But they might get listed at $1,000 or more and just never sell. Cheers -Ryan
@@Crypticmaskguitar Yeah, that's why I asked, as I've seen some pretty inflated prices on Reverb and similar sites. 400-500 up to 600 is a price I'd be willing to pay for a standard xt korina explorer (the red one sells for about 240). Hopefully I'll find one with a reasonable price at some point, although I'm not too optimistic, as they are very rare nowadays. Thank you very much for the info, you've really helped me!
I have an LP Classic exactly like the one you're playing. It ROCKS!!
I bought one of it, and what a heavy sound it has, amazing guitar by the price
super helpfull review, keep up the good work!
yes but does it DOOM-hehe
This thing is incredible, sadly I can't find any for sale... Great demo!

My '62 "SG" junior IS a Les Paul junior. It smokes!
Awesome.. the classic is sold?
Not yet. I sold roughly 30 guitars in around 6 weeks. I had to stop for a while because my work schedule gets pretty crazy. Sometime in late October/early November I will probably get rid of another 10 guitars and add another 2-3 custom shops. Cheers -Ryan
Yes it can definitely play metal. I happen to have one and I really like it a lot. I have the black on black with black pick guard and I’ve yet to change out the stock pickups, it stays in tune for the most part. I happen to have a 50-11 set on my guitar right now and I’m not playing ridiculous tunings but it stays in tune. it’s very lightweight yet. I love the fact that it feels like a solid piece of wood, especially with the neck. I love it because that is what I look for when buying a new guitar.
It’s a great guitar!! I believe they are 3 piece body, but I know what you mean. Cheers -Ryan
I've been reading that most strats from the early 90s were poplar bodies. I picked up a 94 Am Std and its surprisingly light. I think it might unfortunately be poplar :(
You should be able to check via fenders serial number look up tool. Most of the 90s stuff is still listed with the specs for that serial number. Cheers -Ryan
Nice playing!
Awesome! I'd say, if anyone can't 'metal' with a frigging P90 loaded Les Paul, then they might want to turn in their metalhead card.
A guitar that doesn’t stay in tune is *not* a good guitar. Period.
Nice video and great playing. Thank you for your time.
Thanks for listening -Kevin
Sounds great if you know what you’re doing 👍🏻
I have a Fireball 100. I use the clean channel 75% of the time, with the gain around 3 o'clock. What made a world of difference is putting reverb in the loop. I've been shopping for VHT 50cl. But I have a Splawn QR 50 due any day, so...
What do you think if I change microphones? and I put an INVADER (Seymour duncan) a Super distortion (Dimarzio) and an air zone (Seymour duncan) single coil???
The Flying V had the ballsiest sound on those top strings!
I love my ps5, great tutorial and demo
After 1 week i sold the prs the distortion was unusable and hum . Mayb it was just a dud
This one seems pretty decent. Could be that there was something with the one you have. Could also be the volume levels. Who knows. That sucks, though! Cheers -Ryan
I bought a Tribute a few months back to replace a Studio I had to sell. I like the satin finish and 490 pickups. I'm not so fond of the tobacco burst but I can live with it. I usually play Fender Hwy1 guitars so the maple neck is fine with me. It's all the Les Paul I'll ever need.
Exactly the same for more, I went with the sunburst. It was an impulse buy - I got mine just in time.
what would you say the jsx is comparable to?
Just couldn't decide, so I have one of each...
Did you say what your settings were? i missed it? 50% +/- 5% ???
Yes sometimes i change it depending if im using the humidifier or the dehumidifer
Very helpful and fantastic demo! I really love this classic pedal from Digitech!
It sounds very nice to me. The tribute model is like affordable version of gibson. I also like tge design as well. To be honest, i got my 2023 gibson sg tribute with satin cherry finish and sounds fantastic at least to me.
YES
Is it only me thats having problem keep it in tune??? Or is it just me?
The tuners were very flimsy, it’s a plastic nut, and the bridge wasn’t the best. Those are 3 out of the main 5 issues for tuning stability. To offset this I would recommend tuning UP to pitch only (tuning down to pitch with leave slack around the post and in the nut and will cause the guitar to go flat quickly), after tuning UP to pitch then you should tug on your strings and tune UP again. Tugging on your strings will ensure that any slack around the posts and in the nut should be taken out. You can also lubricate your nut or you can rub the lead from a pencil inside your nut slots… this can help your strings to not get caught in the plastic nut. Cheers -Ryan
@@Crypticmaskguitar Thanks, Saw the stretching thing when i was writing and my second thought was about Graphite that you answered now. Going to look out for a Hipshot bridge (175) and some ToneNinjas 19:1 thats seems to coming into market in recent year and seems to fit this Model. I own a LTD H-1007 thats been my main Guitar for a couple of years and was a bit Confused when i found the Jackson neck much easier to Play.🤔 You never getting to old to learn new things about yourself and what you think are the best suitable brand/Neckstyle to play on even if i´ve been playing since 75.. Love the C-shaped thin neck..From Sweden..🙏🤘☮
I love mine. Those '61's rip!
Literally exactly what I was looking for. 421 on a Gibson. Nice
Really cool video, thank you for enlightening us with this. I have the SG Special Ebony like the one you have. I also have the 1961 - Reissue with Humbuckers. Love them both!! But I was debating to get an SG Special, but considering you only have limited tones with just one pickup, I just don't know. Thank you for the words of wisdom. The best thing is to try it yourself.
❤Explorer ❤
Oh, I don’t have problems with lacquer but flat painted necks. Get sticky.
I listened to your whole argument, and you made some good points but the Gibsons BLEW the Epiphone out of the water totally, completely tonewise, it just did not have ANY of the growl of the Gibsons.
The point isn’t the sound, though. It’s the feature set. I agree with you whole heartedly. I own zero Epiphone, 9 Gibson USA Les Paul’s, and 6 Gibson Custom Les Paul’s. you won’t get an argument from me on that point. But the whole point of the video is to show that the Epiphone’s are indeed Les Paul’s. Cheers -Ryan
