The European Union Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA) provides safe and secure European satellite navigation services, promotes the commercialization of Galileo, EGNOS, & Copernicus data and services and is involved in secure satcom (GOVSATCOM & IRIS2). EUSPA also operates the #EUSST Front Desk, protecting more than 400 satellites from the risk of collision with space debris or other operational satellites.

Yeah, my car has this functionality, and it keeps disabling the radio and the sat nav, because its a crap piece of EU bollocks that hasn't been impelemented properly. Legally it should never have been countenanced in the first place, it was a legal requirement to have it in all new vehicles, but also a legal requirement for customers to be able to disable the function, but guess what, you can't! There you go, EU legislation taking us for a ride again! Don't get me wrong, its a great concept, just sh!t implementation that's the problem and when it fails you can't get rid of the errors or reset it! which renders it pissing useless!

Wie genau wurden die Probleme mit den USA gelöst und der Kodierung? Ist man den Forderungen der USA über die eigene "Frequenz" die gestört werden kann nun nachgekommen? Das Projekt war nach meiner Jugend und den Problemen mit den USA plötzlich aus den Medien verschwunden. Dabei fand ich es immer sehr interessant.

Hi! Thanks for your question! Galileo has been operational since December 2016. The upcoming Launch 11 will bring the constellation to 28 satellites and boost Galileo's service provision around the world, you can watch the launch here: link. Even if already operational, the Galileo constellation technically reaches Full Operational Capability with 30 satellites. balise send information to CC. A train with satellite sensor needs to send this information to CC too. You can not "just use it", you need to build wireless communication infrastructure that is reliable and secure enough for transportation application.

Dear Joao, Thank you for your comment and your interest in Galileo. Galileo is the European Union’s unique satellite navigation system providing precise positioning. Almost all state-of-the-art smartphones use Galileo per default and thus automatically benefit apps using positioning. You can visit our UseGalileo.eu website - available in all 24 EU languages - to see if your phone or any devices you may have are compatible with Galileo. If so, then your phone automatically receives signals from Galileo. Galileo was designed to be interoperable with other GNSS like GPS, and their combined use brings many benefits to the end user.
