Doug Phillips (CCT) Operation Urgent Fury - 13th CCT Vegas Reunion Keynote
Operation Urgent Fury was the codename for the United States invasion of Grenada, which took place in 1983. Here are some key points about this military action:
Background:
The invasion began on October 25, 1983, at dawn.
The United States, along with a coalition of six Caribbean nations, invaded the island nation of Grenada, which is located 100 miles (160 km) north of Venezuela.
The operation was triggered by internal strife within the People’s Revolutionary Government (PRG) of Grenada.
Reasons for the Invasion:
The PRG, led by Marxist-Leninist leaders, posed a threat to nearly 1,000 American nationals, including 600 medical students, living on the island at the time. U.S. President Ronald Reagan ordered the invasion to counter the threat and protect American citizens.
Outcome:
The invasion resulted in the toppling of the Grenadian People’s Revolutionary Government.
An interim government was appointed, followed by elections in 1984.
Cuban and Soviet forces were expelled from Grenada.
In summary, Operation Urgent Fury aimed to restore stability, protect American citizens, and counter the Marxist regime in Grenada. It remains a significant event in Cold War history.

All of these guys died in training? That’s wild. Seems like they may want to rethink the training plan.

Bring your crutches to work day??? Nice
It is common for candidates to get injured during training. Regardless, when the candidates fall out for memorial push-ups, all are expected to participate, unless there is a medical reason preventing them from doing so. The cadre and medical staff look out for the well being of the candidates, but also push them. This is aligned with our warrior ethos and establishes the standard that obstacles are meant to be overcome.
Piss bottles on the ground is crazy
nah is that what that is 💀
No, that is not what that is. This was a very hot 104°F day and in physically demanding and specialized training programs like those conducted at the Special Warfare Training Wing, monitoring hydration levels and overall performance is crucial. Those bottles contain electrolyte solutions or specialized hydration mixes designed to replenish fluids and essential nutrients lost during intense physical activities.
@@CombatControlFoundation yeah I was bouta say lmao. thanks for the explanation, appreciate it
Crutches on the ground is crazy
Sprained ankles from the 12 mile hike around the base, and trust me. They do not keep the world’s biggest Air Force museum in running order. The shoes we get in the Air Force friggin suck, and getting new ones that are Nike or something else is a must. You are required to use the ones they give you for Basic training however. So going into special warfare, it’s not a surprise not everyone had new ones.
Also, for my recruiter. TRIPLE A-0!!!
