Anyway, if you are lucky to catch the new 33% precast of the Lich transformation on Elixir X, your opener will go even more stellar than before! (... yes, that makes it ungrindable on bosses ...)
The Lich makes up ~5k of your first number, and ~750 dps in the end, the rest is attributable to the buff of grenades 4+5. It will still not be a part of the meta (hopefully), but is super fun to play once mastered!

    I'll be the contrarian.... I would never use it. I prefer builds that require reaction rather than memorization, this is why I'm a support ele. Then again, I don't use any add ons, even arc. Some features should just be included in the game. Ik, unpopular opinion. But I see this looks good and will be helpful to many.

      Thanks! I'm on your page - the build that I started with for this tool (Power Core Engineer) is also very reactional and situation-dependent, no fixed looping rotation. But still it is interesting to see the limits, and the value of some skills over others

    I love core engi and this is actually my main playstyle. We both have almost the same build except I use rocket boots for mobility instead of rifle in the open world. My guildmate suggest I should switch to mech cause it's stronger. I am just new player and I'd like to ask if other players discriminate you for using core like they prefer elite specs when looking for a party therefore won't let you join. Does this ever happen to you? I am curious cause I haven't done any fractals and raids yet. Your build is solid. Some players won't understand that Fun to play with professions > S tier professions

      Hey, I'm completely on your page. Rocket boots are way more valuable for open world than a bit dps (especially before there were mounts D:) Don't play mech because "its stronger" - in fact, core power engi is currently stronger than power mech - but play whatever you want. There is no content in Gw2 that desperately needs meta dps classes or perfect damage, but more often than not you can outperform high-benchmark classes if you know the class and the encounter well. If it is at least feasible, people will not complain, but rather be positively surprised that "it works". I have a few hundred raid kills as core engineer (every boss), in pugs, statics and even with speedrun people - play what you want. It's a game and this community is way less toxic than others

      Good question! I change it from time to time, but I think thats a Heavy Houndskin Mantle (shoulders) with Ice Reaver chest and legs, Holographic Dragon Gloves and (very important) Zodiac boots :D and some infusions, the one that makes everything blue is I guess snow diamond hammer is of course Mjölnir which looks more legendary than both legendary hammers combined

      Hey! Yes, that still works and has gotten a bit more popular in the last few months. It just says "Outdated" because I benched it a bit higher. There was a patch affecting it a tiny bit, but really only changed the auto-attack pattern. Instead having a "shot-shot-grenade" AA, we now have a "shot-grenade" AA which is a bit less pew-pew-y, but has the same damage coefficients added up Don't do it because its cheap - do it because its a lot of fun! :D

      I don't think there is yet. Engi cannot weapon swap, so this build will not have a fixed clean rotation, but more a priority list. Of course start with precasting whenever available (before a boss starts, in invulnerability phases, etc): - Mine Field - Throw Mine - Dodge your stamina away - Place Rifle Turret (if not there yet - of course you can detonate it in an earlier phase when you know that you can set it up again without time loss) - F5 if you really know that the boss will get damage in <3s - Rifle5 if you really know that the boss will get damage in <1s The only fixed "combo" you will do is: - Rifle2 - Grenade2 - Grenade4,5 (if available) The remaining priority list can kind of be read by the log report (check "Player Summary"->"Outgoing Damage" and you can sort after "Damage divided by time spent in animation"). So your highest dps skills are: - Throw Mine (while standing in the hitbox of the boss so that the double-spawned mine from Gadgeteer trait detonates immediately) - Grenade Barrage - Mine Field - Rifle4 - F5 - F1 - Rifle3 - Rifle5 And of course Surprise Shot off-cd in parallel Dodge should be last priority, but never let your endurance get to 100%. Never double-dodge because you get a small dps increase by Explosive Entrance that would be overridden. Always try to play smart and dodge actual boss attacks or mechanics to get both the offensive as well as the defensive value out of your dodge - that of course needs knowledge of every boss and when which mechanics are going to appear That should be basically it. It is a really fun build because you have decent dps, can adapt to basically any situation, have some range potential for closing gaps, have awesome CC, don't really lose dps when forced to dodge, have self-condi cleanse every other second and can really enjoy the precast game.     Just started running this build; Been practicing a lot on golem. My opener feels really clean, but I'm only pulling 29k~ and dropping to 25k~ at the end. I do start getting caught up with my rotation, which I'm trying to practice through. But I don't feel like the difference should be that large compared to yours. Is there anything crucial I might be missing? I'm an engi main, and would love to be able to main a core build in content, there's something I find really satisfying about not using an elite spec.

      Hey, the things that cause the largest margins are mismatches in settings - check that you have food, utilities and 10 conditions on the golem (including 25 vulnerability). Sorry if that was obvious but this is often overlooked :) Apart from that, always try to get back into the hitbox for throw mine and mine field, try to prioritize your high dps skills before lower ones, and only dodge when (almost) everything is on cooldown (but never get to 100 endurance). If you have a dps.report log or a video, I can probably help you more if you want

      Yes its still decently playable (but on bosses better than on Golem, this bench is 1.5 years old and it lost too much). There definitely will happen good things next week, but not for Rifle, rather for Sword Holo! Hard to estimate how good it will be now, since the patch spoilers are not expressive enough for math (at least for holo), but stay tuned, it will most probably return! :)

      -So the only affected skill is Mine Field (toolbelt) which is about 8% of its dps (~3k). Depending on your luck on how bad these spawn, you lose either more or less of these, 50% missing would be -1.5k but I can do some tries on how big the out-of-hitbox spawn rate of mines would be-

      Okay nevermind, let's look at it closer: Mine Field can spawn mines in a range of 360. These mines themselves have an explosion radius of 240, which would place the explosion in the unluckiest case 120 units away from your hitbox center. The hitbox size of a small Golem is 140, but this rather seems to be the diameter, so itself has a radius of 70. Now there would be a window of 50 units where they explode out of reach. 50 out of 360 would be 13.9% so we would hit 86.1% of the time. This could be because they are not uniformly sampled from the 360 range radius or because the tooltip range (360) is not really the spawn radius, but diameter?       Possible of course, as always its just a question about the dps loss :D If you look in the Elite Insights report (Player Summary > Outgoing Damage), "Throw Mine" is the one skill that contributes the most to your overall dps (4073.55). If you are not playing Gadgeteer, you lose half of the Mines (11 hits instead of 22), which would cost you ~2000 dps alone. Now it also decreases their cooldown by 20%, so you would get another ~2 mines less out, which is again maybe -400 dps in the end Other GM traits in Tools are sadly not able to make up for this dps loss - Adrenal Implant forces you to dodge more often which is an even greater dps loss and Kinetic Battery only helps you with Quickness uptime. That might be nice if you are in a dysfunctional group, but Gadgeteer is better in most situations. (It also makes the A.E.D. window longer and decreases its cooldown :))

      Yep thats basically it! There are some things to beware of though, like if you dodge back and use "Throw Mine", a 2nd mine will spawn due to the "Gadgeteer" trait - but at your feet. If you are outside of the hitbox at that moment, it will not detonate and cost you some dps. So ideally you can dodge after a Grenade2 and run back in the hitbox while throwing a Grenade4 or 5 - as these are ground targeted and will not interrupt by camera angles (other than Rifle1/2/3/4 which easily cancel if you are moving and facing the target in an incorrect angle).

    This might sound salty but it isn't... Why would you play this build when there's literally 3-4 button builds that do around 40k DPS and don't require constant repositioning by the boss and keeping track of 12+ cooldowns. Why work extra for less efficiency and DPS?

      Nah its not salty, I would never claim that this will become a meta build :) Its mostly about playing a class that you like (or see how far you can push it). I could argue that it might help some new people that dont have access to DLCs yet, but I would not recommend this at a beginner level. Shorter answer: I'm an engi main and it is stronger than Power Holo, Power Mechanist and comparable to Power Scrapper right now

      @@CapitanBreakfast honestly, can you imagine how it feels to style on everyone using a more difficult core class? this shits amazing, why would I ever be fine with using low complexity specs everyone plays? the beautiful thing about engineer is, everything about it is cool except Power Mech core engi, pHolo, cHolo, cMech variations, scrapper all are interesting

      Maybe Big Ol' Bomb would be a bit better then (but swapping to grenade kit isnt that hard, just do it after every Rifle2 and throw what you have from Grenade2,4,5)

      @@nevermindCreations yeah I know, but I want to try to keep the apm as low as possible because I'm using it in ht cm and I have to deal with abunch of stuff (and I also kinda have to rifle 1 more often to cleave far mobs, so not much time for grenades), can't tunnel vision on rotation

      @@enorenwtf Oh yeah thats fine. I am not sure if you want to dodge around that much in HT CM as the edge or black is often pretty close :D So it will never be best in slot there, if you want to have something more meta and easier, probably Power Soulbeast or Power Virtuoso would be good picks now (Rifle Mech is still not completely unusable). Still just take grenade kit, even if its only for Grenade Barrage (or spam a grenade every now and then)

      @@nevermindCreations I already tried it today and it's not bad, one annoying thing is that sometimes the extra mine doesn't explode even if I detonate the main mine manually, not sure why, and it reveals me during mass invis. Also it's not great against the champions with small hitbox, but overall it has more dps than mech and power virtuoso (when I don't fuck up), but I'm not sure if it's worth to not have a blink.

      @@enorenwtf Well if you are so much against grenade kit, you could of course use Rocket Boots, which are in this setup even traited, which means 1200 range and lower cooldown! :D I mean .. thats what we used before every could blink ...

      Well, if you use Mines, you lose about 200 dps but dont have to use kits - just use Mine Field and Throw mine off-cd, ideally under superspeed

      and with turret? how much dps would you lose? its the one that imbusing righnow since im bad with rotations and prefer to focus on mechanics as a newbie

      @@aaxxeell92 I would have to bench it, but probably a few thousand. Dropping grenade kit is almost always a no-go, Mines is just the second best option (or if you need boonstrip). So if you are new and not really caring about rotations, I would still recommend you to go with the first build and remember: - Gyros First - After each Hammer2, press a Grenade2 (and 4/5 if you are already there) - "Everything else" just off-cooldown If these are off CD, just auto attack (do not cancel the chain until the 3rd hit) and you produce already decent results
