I can't believe this L.A furniture store icon has gone away for good after almost 110 years in business.
Dearden's used to be a very cool place to shop. Me and my parents used to buy furniture and even a TV and I bought a Sony Walkman from that store which is now long gone. R.I.P Dearden's 1910-2017

I remember watching Heathcliff and Rift Raft when I was 4 years old. Those were the good old days you know. As I recorded the video you may notice some shaking because I Almost couldn't hold my disconnected phone steady so sorry about that. I was expecting the DIC and the LBS logo but the Cookie Jar Logo appeared instead. (25/5/17)

Como poder olvidar las pelicuas de Chespirito. Si estas a punto de salir del cine recuerde de retirar la bocina de su auto y colgar de regreso a su puesto. Si la bocina se revienta por accidente entrega la bocina al centro de refrescantes o dejalo en el mismo puesto. No habra cobros por el instalamento de bocinas nuevas. I love this Drive In intermission
I remember back in the 70's we had a couple really great Drive-in Theaters. The 41-Twin Drive-in Theater was close to our house, and the 24-Outdoor was not as close but still nearby. Those nights were events for me. The prep work. That Styrofoam cooler, the snacks, the blankets, and pillows. I'd bring some toys. We'd pack into the wagon or the car, and off we went. So many great memories. It was a always a special occasion, a treat for me when we went to the Drive-in. Now sadly they are all torn down, abandoned, rebuilt with insurance companies, massive buildings that now fill the place where so many memories and fun times happened. That's progress?

Interesting that this station aired WeLove Lucy reruns as late as 2006 at least (that’s the year My Network TV launched hence the My13 Los Angeles logo.) I heard that We Love Lucy also was the name of a series of specials (one hosted by Betty White and the other Lucie Arnaz) does anyone know what episodes the Lucie Arnaz special consisted of? How about the other special(s) (if they were made)?

Duke City and the Tijeras Drive-in were regular summer venues. We'd hit it just at sunset, before the first show and leave after mid-night. Mom's night off, she'd send us to the snack bar with money and instructions to bring back a Coke and Popcorn for her. Summers as a kid, you don't realize how special it was until you get Really Olde, like me.
Always loved the hamburgers wrapped in foil on a steamer. I don't know what made them so good.
