The Mario Kart series is one of the most iconic of all time, one of the few series that is universal; we've all played Mario Kart no matter which episode it was, and we've all understood, controller in hand, that these games are special, that they have a different aura from others, that they make us feel a whole range of emotions in just a few seconds. Mario Kart games are very exotic and different from what we can find elsewhere, and yet, it's one of the few series to have successfully crossed the ages without ever disguising itself and to have achieved success with each episode. Today, in celebration of the series recently celebrated 30th anniversary, we look back on each installment of the main series, tracing their development, the context of the time, with an analysis of each game and how they have managed to evolve and adapt to their era each time, becoming one of the most beloved game series. Buckle up because today, we are going through the history of a legendary series, here's the story of Mario Kart.

I live in Eastern Europe. I was born in 1993. The first time I heard about the Dreamcast was... At least 2010. The GameCube prolly a bit earlier. The 64 I've only seen on Chipicao croissants that had Pokémon cards that you collect and with which you could win a Pokémon themed Nintendo 64. The Playstation (1) I've seen and played on in gaming cafés. The PS2 I've seen and played on in gaming cafés and kids I used to hang out with back then.

In regards to Wii colors being washed out and a little blurry I find that happens with using HDMI converters on the Wii systems. If you find an older TV that has component connection it's actually more clear and colorful that matches the gamecube double dash

Honestly, I always loved that they stuck to cartridges. I knew even back then without having access to magazines or media that there was an advantage to good games with fast loading speeds. Mario 64 is still the best game ever made.

It's all good and dandy, but, Sony sold 100 million PlayStation and almost 1 billion software units, Nintendo sold 33 million N64 and 225 million software units... So, if the pirating was such a huge problem for PS1, this means that 1 billion software unit number could've been higher. This is incredible. For every PS1 people buy 9 games... Huge!

I don't see the issue with "no games for the PS2". The PS2 basically launched with FFX, FIFA 2001 and Gran Turismo 3, in EU and US. Btw, Playstation2 buyers are not the same as Gamecube buyers. Different age groups.
