I remember watching this fight as a little boy. It seemed so DEADLY! I also remember re-enacting the "blades" with garden tools. Ha! Looks pretty lame by today's standards, but hey... it was a LONG time ago.

Watched the re runs in the 70's... was totally engrossed.. heck I was pre-teen... loved it the drama.. and I was completely into the characters...felt the fear..the wonder.. everything... great theater!!

Ppl always forget these things will always be a matter of opinion. There is no set in stone “BEST” fight scene or anything else for that matter. So stop arguing over nothing.

So many great fight scenes in star trek. The Gorn is probaly my favorite because he told the captain to wait for him and he would be quick and merciful!!

The BEST fight in Star Trek history? Quite possibly. Most iconic? Naah, that would be the Kirk vs Gorn fight.

The problem I have with the way this fight scene is choreographed is that it doesn't show that the Vulcan is stronger. Kirk seems to dominate at the beginning of the fight. Spock should have overpowered him in the beginning clash.

So many great episodes to choose from. “Third from the Sun” and “The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street”. Modern Science Fiction is CGI and killing aliens. The Twilight Zone & The Outer Limits were more cerebral and psychological

Love the music! And I've got the CD with all the music from this episode and The Doomsday Machine. Music played a big part in the shows success (apart from the third season). When I first saw this I wondered what had happened to Spock's Vulcan strength. I know he was below par, but still...

Every time someone , anyone tried to tell "this is the most" anything for Star Trek Original series. My mind takes me back to the first time I recall seeing that episode or sequence and just smile knowing all the moments were "the most" special ever. What a incredible show, cast, writers, music , guest stars, you name it. Star Trek had it.

Oh I loved the episode. But as I got older and thought about it .. they were very low on fuel. Another attempt would mean wherever they go they stay (likely a crash). And if they had thought it out a bit, landing in 1939 would have given US scientists a wealth of items to go over. The would have reversed out the resistors and diodes very quickly, inductors and other items. And those alone would have give the US a major tech advance well before the war peaks. Figuring out how to produce the higher strength materials in blades and turbines would take time but the clue would speed that all up. Oh the advancements that could have been made.
