A True "2011" for UNDER $1000 [Live Free Armory Apollo 11 - Unboxing and Review]
Heyo! Thanks for joining me!
In today's video: A short review and showcase of the Live Free Armory Apollo 11! It's a double stack 1911 or "2011" chambered in 9mm, made in the US, for under $1000! What more could you ask for?
This is my first "review" so let me know if I missed anything down in the comments. I tried to hit all the major points that interest me when purchasing a new handgun, but if you'd like to know anything else, shoot me a message down in the comments!
I'll be doing a 1000-round review in future, so stay tuned if you're interested in it!

Great Video by Mason's Gun room.
Why the side by side down range tho😅😅😅
Because we're too lazy to move it lol
liked and gave it 5 stars; it really MAKES YOU FEEL like you are OUTSIDE Mason’s Gun Room
51 seconds is nutty 😂
Heyo! If anyone at CZcams asks: these are airsoft guns 😉 Back with another drill video, tbh I'm just clearing out old footage to start working on new videos. Hope you enjoy em" Thanks for watching, love you all! ❤️
Man those airsoft guns look incredibly realistic you should probably paint the tips orange to clarify further that they are airsoft
@@xubi8902 I forgot to remove the electrical tape covering the orange tip. My bad wont happen again 🙏
He's back!!!!! I can't wait to see more exciting adventures in the gun world he will bring us.
liked and gave it 5 stars; it really MAKES YOU FEEL like you are FINALLY BACK at Mason’s Gun Room
It's like I never left 😂
Oh shit no way, a Mason’s Gun Room video? I thought he was dead. Thanks for watching y’all ❤
I have the shields arms mag and never changed the mag catch, and it still running so good
I'm sure it runs just fine! The concern is that after extended use, the mag catch will eat away at the mag catch slot causing the mag to sit loosely and possibly leading to malfunctions. Thanks for watching! 🙏
Thanks man. Good info.
Thanks for watching! 🙏
Poor guy can barely control the recoil 🤣
That 43x recoil
😂
Hi, Thanks for the great video. Quick question: i am getting ready to install the same ASR Flash Hider for use with the Hybrid 46 suppressor. Are you not supposed to use a crush washer at all with this configuration? What about if you direct thread mount the suppessor? Do you not use a crush washer for DTM either? Thanks!
Thanks! No crush washer at all. The crush washer could cause the muzzle device to seat improperly, and you run the risk of baffle strikes. If you don’t intend to use the ASR system, and instead will remove the flash hider and direct mount the can every time, then I suppose a crush washer is fine, but I’d recommend nothing at all as it doesn’t require it.
Fkn hell ur buddy scared or sum ?
yea 😂
Try Winchester white box 147 grain JHP. From what I have heard, many 9mm pistols prefer the longer ogive of the heavy bullets. I practice with 147 grain ball and carry the JHP in my Canik TP9 SF Elite and my Taurus GX4. Never had a problem. I will be buying an Apollo 11 fairly soon. By the way, I photographed the Apollo 11 launch on the morning of 16 July 1969. The Texas newspaper I worked for sent me to the Cape.
I'll try and get my hands on some, thanks for the recommendation. I found the Apollo loves any round nose hollow points like the Norma MHPs. I was able to run 250 rounds of the Normas with 0 malfunctions. And very nice! I bet that was a sight to behold!
I think that the grip module surface is patterned from LFA's janitor's pet miniature dragon.
Nice job!
Thank you! and thanks for watching!
Dose it work on the silver mags
Yes, it does! 👍
I'm glad I found this vid now I can upgrade to a higher mag capacity 😅 thanks that 43x has alot of horse kick
It sure does lol 😂
What optic brother?
Swampfox Sentinel
what mag well is that ?
Empire Katana v3
Where can I get the micro dagger mags?
Palmetto State Armory’s website
Ima press check everything now ugh
How are you not having out of battery detonations. It looks like you short stroked it.
It has a Rifle Dynamics buffer. It significantly shortens the cycling action Thanks for watching! 😁
I just subscribed, great video and great pistol. I bought the compact and love it. It’s the second run so problems were ironed out and no mim parts. It runs like a clock. The HP issues burned themselves away after a couple hundred rounds and a good cleaning. No follow up video? I noticed you haven’t put anything out in a while, hope all is well.
Thanks for subscribing, and I appreciate the kind words! I am doing as well as one can, just have a lot on my plate. I have full intentions to get back to producing videos and hope to soon!
@@MasonsGunRoom glad to hear, it’s not a great economy at the moment. Your videos are fantastic. Definitely deserve more subscribers. Do what you can buddy!
Thanks brother! One of the best comments I've ever read, made my week! Blessings to you and your family 🙏
Homie could barely hold the 43x
I’m heated I just bought the tisas b9r carry I didn’t know about this beauty
You can never have too many guns 😉
This was great. Thank you! I have 2 ASR breaks that I need to install. The only thing I don't have is a good barrel clamp. I don't want to end up messing up my barrels so I'll probably just take them to my local gunsmith. I plan on having some trigger work done to a different firearm anyway so I'll get them all done at once
Gunsmith is the safest way for sure, but cost is something to think about. My local shop does muzzle installs for $60 a pop. A Magpul BEV block and a good vice costs under $100 Thanks for watching! 🙏
@@MasonsGunRoom Yeah the more I think about it I was going to clamp two 2x4's together and drill a big hole in there and then I have some rubber belting that I can lay in the grooves and use that as a barrel clamp. I already have a bench vise so that will cost me a couple of bucks. If it doesn't work oh well
Thank you!
Thank you for watching!
flame thrower missing
😂 I thought about it
😮 nice 🔫
😁🙏 Thanks for watching
Can’t fucking order these cus I’m in Chicago maneee 😭😭😭
Sorry you have commie morons running your state, praying for ya 🙏
You are a genius I had this same idea regular mags thou
It's an awesome little chassis if you have an extra handgun laying around. With the stock mags it works perfect. It's a badass little kit to throw in a car or truck 👍 Thanks for watching!
Best video I’ve seen of this yet. Thanks man!!
Thanks for watching! 👍
I don’t have to worry about any of that. My double stack Glock 26 Gen 5 will take any other double stack Glock 9mm magazine. I don’t get those who think the double stacks are too wide. UnlessI think about it, I can easily forget I’m carrying.
To each their own brother, do whatever works for you! 👍 I'm a heavier dude, so the slimer profile of the slimline Glocks is more comfortable for me. Plus, the Glock 26 fully loaded is 4 oz heavier than a fully loaded 43x. Doesn't seem like a lot extra weight, but it counts when I carry in gym shorts or sweat pants. Thanks for watching!
Make sure your torque wrench is at a 90° angle when you’re torquing the flash hider down, or else the torque spec won’t be accurate. It looked like you had yours angled a little bit but I couldn’t tell super well.
No issues so far, but you're right. Good catch! I'll make sure to pay attention to that in the future. Thanks!
need another in depth review psa don’t limp wrist all love🫡
I'm currently making some modifications to the Apollo that I won't spoil 😁 Video is on the way
☆☆THATS GREAT THAT "PSA" MADE THOSE "MICRO 15 ROUND" MAGS,, BUT I WANT "GLOCK" TO MAKE THEIR "FACTORY 15 ROUND" MAGS FOR THE "GLOCK 43X MOS".🤙💥🤙
That would be nice, but I can't see that happening unfortunately. Glock is too tame in their production to try anything funky. They haven't really changed anything major in 25 years lol. Thanks for watching!
Well..I Hope "GOD" Can Change Them, So They'll Make Those Magazines.🙏💥🙏
How important is it to be timed dead bottom center? What if it is off just slightly?
Not extremely important, especially if it's a flash hider. Some people will time their muzzle device slightly off in the direction the body naturally fights the recoil. You'll have to play around with it and see what feels the best for you. Dead center is just general rule of thumb 👍 Thanks for watching!
does it fit glock 48 MOS
Yes, it does 👍
I want ine
It's a great first can, but if I'm honest with myself, I should've gone with the 36M
Why are you slapping the mag into the gun if it's so reliable?
Good question! Almost all glocks can “slam load”. While inserting a loaded magazine, you can “slam” the bottom of the magazine on your hand or a hard surface and the slide stop will release, sending the slide into battery, chambering a round. It’s not the most reliable thing but it’s a cool “feature” that most glocks and a few other companies handguns have. In this clip, I was testing if the PSA mags could do it 👍 Thanks for watching!
Good job
Thank you! 😁 I appreciate you watching!
About the hollow points, humble marksman concluded that sig crowns really didnt function in any 2011’s. From the prodigy to the staccatto and even bull armory gave him trouble with every one of them because of the shape of the projectile.
Thanks for the info! I been trying out the Norma MHPs and so far, 100% reliability. I'll try and get the video out soon. Thanks for watching 👍
Buddy needs to get that left hand to actually grip hard. Just hanging out over the right hand.
Good advice 👍Support hand is everything
you should check out the plus 2, perfect for carry
I'm too fat to carry this thing 😂 I'll check them out 👍
What kind of grip texture brand is that? Lol
Talon Grips 👍
@@MasonsGunRoom thanks man
What screws are those?
I can't remember what company I got them from, but they're titanium screws 👍
Aw ok cool @@MasonsGunRoom
"now that is the ring-a-ding move, baby."
Thanks for the video man. I was wondering in case I need a spacer where can I buy one? And thanks for mentioning not to use the crush washer, big help thank you.
Thanks for watching! I've seen packs on Amazon if you want to trust them, but most gun part online retailers (Midwest, Brownells, maybe PSA?) carry shims, spacers, and crush washers. You might be able to find something at Home Depot too lol
Great first review homie
Thanks man 🙏 Appreciate you watching
