Welcome to RV Site 2 Sight. We are Steve and Rennie Atkins. We have been happily married for 50 years, and are still very much in love. We love spending time together. We have 2 married adult children, and ten grandkids. We want to produce videos that will tell you about campsites (private, state, national, BLM, etc.), and sights in each location. Our journey starts soon, so please subscribe today. You can visit our blog at www.site2sight.com and our store at www.site2sight.store.
Rattle Rattle
When we were preparing to go on a trip, we noticed an unusual sound coming from the rear tire on our Reflection 337 fifth wheel on the driver's side. I went to the Facebook Grand Design Owner's page and described my situation. Immediately 8 people responded... two of them suggested that the grease cap had come loose. Here's how I took care of it.

Scary Roads to Beech Fork SP in WV
zhlédnutí 424Před měsícem
I love West Virginia. I was born and raised on top of a mountain there in 1948. When I was 18 our entire family relocated to North Carolina where I met my wonderful wife Rennie. Not long after we were married, we bought a boat and spent many hours boating and tent camping on Kerr Lake in NC. Later, we bought our first camper, a 1970 Nomad. Now, many years later, we are on our 9th RV, a 2024 Ref...
Buc-ee's Taste Test

Okay, I am a little bit biased. I am a big fan of Eastern North Carolina Pit-Cooked Barbecue. We use pork... sometimes the whole hog. Although most of the restaurants around here are great... Parker's (Greenville, NC) Skylight Inn (Ayden, NC), B's Barbecue (Greenville), and Sam Jones (Greenville), I actually prefer my own. I get a big pork butt (actually, a cut from the sholder), smoke it in my...
Things Didn't Go As Planned

Nowadays, planning a trip is not easy. In order to get good campsites, you usually have to book sites way in advance. When problems come up or the weather is not cooperating, it's not easy to change things on the cuff. Our 1600 mile, 6 campground trip got thrown completely out of whack because of unexpected problems... some of which hit our wallet pretty good. The first leg of our trip to Mt. A...
Why We Refused Grand Design's Front Living Unit
zhlédnutí 4,2KPřed 4 měsíci
We've loved our 2019 Grand Design Reflection 297rsts travel trailer. However, now that we have some extra time on our hands, we have chosen to get a bigger unit. We narrowed it down to Grand Design's Front Living Unit, the Solitude 380fl. We' seen the photos and several CZcams videos on it, and we were convinced that this unit was for us. We headed to Bill Plemmon's RV (now Blue Compass RV) in ...
Parking RV with a Drone 1minute 1

This is a shortened version of me parking our RV using only the drone. It took me three attempts, but I think with practice, this would be an easy way to get into tight spots. If you have tried this, please let me know in comments below. Thanks. While you're here, please give me a thumbs up and subscribe. Need RV supplies? Check out my Amazon Affiliate store. Home Base Full Hookups! Water Woes!
zhlédnutí 281Před rokem
Do you hate the long lines at the one and only dump station at the campground at checkout time! Well, I do! That's why I installed my own full hookup station at my home base. It's easy to do, and on this video, I bring my RV to my house and test it out. There are many reasons to have this. It also made it convenient to do a little repair while I was here. Well, not me, but my grandson Evan. I j...
Dump Station Complete

How many times have you wished that you had a dump station at home? If you like to Boondock or stay at National and State parks, there is a good likelihood that you will have to face the dreaded nasty dump station, and it is especially bad at checkout times. This is my eighth RV, so I know that feeling... someone used it and didn't clean up, or you're waiting in line while a newbie tries to fig...
Blowout!

Watching CZcams videos, I've seen it happen many times on RVs with Westlake tires. Now, it's happened to me! Why the Westlake tires for RVs haven't been recalled is a mystery to me. I didn't go with the expensive Goodyear Endurance tires, but I went with a highly rated brand that is not made in China. We'll see how they hold up. In my next video, I will show how I installed full hookups at my h...
RVS2S Takes a Big Step Up
zhlédnutí 427Před rokem
How many times have you tried to reach something in your truck bed but it was just a little too far away? Most of us who tow travel trailers (or even those towing 5th wheels) have fairly large pick up trucks that make it difficult to get things out of the bed, or even make 5th wheel or goose neck connections properly and safely. This easily to store step solves the problem. Want to wash that wi...

Be Prepared

You hope nothing will go wrong, but sometimes it does. Calling a tech may cost a lot of money. Taking the RV to a repair shop can take days... sometimes an entire camping season. Because stuff happens, it's best to be prepared. In this video, I show several items that I think are key to being prepared. You may never need them, but then again, you may! They say, "Experience is the best teacher."...

In the last video showing how I removed the pedestal and replaced it with an aluminum support, I had ordered the wrong color of ottomans. I have replaced it with the correct color (amzn.to/3Giv4GW) which is Tanner's Brown. I also put the buttons in the 1/2" holes that I had drilled in the support
RV Table Modification

The table pedestal in our 2019 Grand Design Reflection 297rsts was a constant source of aggravation. For me, since I am a big guy, the chairs were difficult to get in and out of. For both Rennie and I, the pedestal left little room to put our feet. So, I designed this wall mount to replace the pedestal. The fabricator charged me $150 to make the support, including materials. On our unit, the el...

cool it with the click bait thumb nail
Hi Jerry, actually it was not clickbait. It had rained considerably, and there were several places in the road where it looked like it could easily cave in. There were also place where cave-ins had occured and had been shored up with concrete. There were two places where the guardrail was destroyed, and it was obvious that something had gone over at that point. I do know one thing, as nice as Beech Fork State Park is, I'll not be returning until they fix that horrible road. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I’m from WV and have camped at Beech Fork many times. It’s one of our favorite state parks to camp at. The road is very narrow and winding but slow and easy will get you there safely. The route that you came is actually the best of the three roads if you can believe that. You need to at least bring your wife back one more time and make sure it’s a holiday weekend. She will definitely enjoy that ride. 😂
Hi Kevin, yep when I was a boy, I traveled roads similar to these. I lived on top of a high ridge until I was 18. However, with the amount of taxes we pay, roads should be better to a park like this. I travel one of the other routes in, and I agree, it was worse. Fortunately, I was not pulling 14,000 pounds when I checked it out. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I'm with you. I will be 66.5 when we start our full time adventure. We are looking at Predator 5000 watt. We just started researching hitch type hoist for the Chevy 3500 we just got brand new. I didn't even think I would need it for the electric bikes we plan on getting.
I actually bought Harbor Freight's hitch hoist. It works well. I am 76 now, and things I did easily at 66 are not so easy now. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Bravo…excellent, gracias
Still have my tailgate ladder, and use it often. Thanks for watching and commenting.
We also have a thetford yuck. And you might have answered it but will the Bidet not fit on it or did you just want to change it out?
Hey Gina. Yeh, the Thetford was a no-go for me. I just didn't like the design. The Dometic 320 looks like a residential toilet, and the bidet fits perfectly. This one was installed on my Grand Design Reflection 297. I recently bought a new Reflection 337 fifth wheel, and the first thing I did was take out the Thetford and install a Dometic 320. Thanks for watching and commenting.
sorry if this is a duplicate, i don't see a search option for the commentsAND replies... So the 320 is hard to come by, I guess they don't make it as they don't sell it anymore. Why that model and what is the issue with the 300 or 310 or other models. 320 is still out in some stores that haven't sold their stock so is/why is it worth that model. I want to put a full size toto bidet on that I've gotten so used to and it's elongated like you put in. I have a smaller bathroom so what are the key measurements? Is there a standard offset from the wall so I know if my porcelain round throne can be replaced? I have a class C Coachman Leprechaun 319MB 2022. I do all my own plumbing so I just need to know what are the critical measurements and problem areas to check on. My foot lever broke during ther super hard freeze we had this winter and doesn't operate the water valve so I've got to do something so should I just pull the toilet and measure? The black take is double rinsed out-- Thanks--Dave
Hey Dave. The Dometic 320 can be bought from Amazon: amzn.to/45QA7t1. I also just bought a Dometic 320 from Camping World two months ago. I just bought a new Grand Design Reflection 337 fifth wheel, and the first thing I did was remove the Thetford commode and install the Dometic. According to the manual the distance from the wall to the center of the drain needs to be 11 inches. Thanks for watching and commenting. Steve
Even if your not big this helps, I have bad knees and could use this
Hey James. Yep, the ladder comes in very handy. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I was on I-65 and there was a sign for Buc-ees 332 miles. My GF and I thought it was a joke lol
Yep, I agree that Buc-ee's is unique, but I'm not going out of my way to pay double for mediocre food. Thanks for watching and commenting.
As a Texan that stops at Buc-ees whenever I'm traveling to Houston, I can tell you the BBQ is 'just' mediocre at best. The meat is okay, but they have no flavor.
Hey Tex, I agree the prices are double, and what you get is mediocre. I smoke the "best" bbq in my own backyard. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Love Buc-ees!!!
Hey Cathy. Buc-ee's is unique, and a fun place to see. However, IMHO the food is way overpriced. Like I told Tex, the best bbq is done in my smoker in my own backyard... amazing! Thanks for watching and commenting.
Thanks for sharing, Steve. I enjoyed the trip.
Thanks, Karen. There are many more videos to come about this trip. The second leg was our trip to Beech Fork State Park in WV. ... and we thought the roads to the ridge were narrow... stay tuned.
How cute is that❤
Yep. It has been very handy. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I am having the same problem in my RAM 2500. Great idea. No welding. ❤great video. Thanks. Very informative! Now to find someone who can add it to my truck!
Yes. This crane is great, but it does put a lot of pressure on the base. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I am looking at some of the cranes on amazon that seem to be a bit beefier than this one, I am also going in to a Ram 2500 (2019)
Just bought one of these cranes and have been pondering how to reinforce my Ford's aluminum sheet metal. I think the only thing you missed with your reinforcing plate is extending it to the side (towards the center of the bed), Your reinforcement is great for fore and aft loads, but in use the crane will swing sideways, so more reinforement there would be helpful. Thanks for the video!
I totally agree. We learn from our mistakes. It is best to learn from the mistakes of others. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Just found your channel!!! Binge watching on a sunny day! Great job! We are now a sub. We are curious, since some time has passed, are still happy with this washing machine?
Thanks for your sub! This is a great little washing machine for small loads. However, we just bought a new 2024 Grand Design Reflection 337rls fifth wheel, and we are adding the Splendide washer and dryer stack. Stay tuned! Thanks for watching and commenting.
I will use your idea for the top plate. Thanks
Make the top plate wider than mine. You will find that it will help. Thanks for watching and commenting.
You didn't read the instructions
There were instructions? Oh well, it has held this 300 pound boy up for 3 years. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Good narration. Thank you for posting
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching and commenting.
Lots a luck……never again for me. A nightmare on wheels. Hope your frame doesn’t brake.
Hey Randy, we did our homework. In the 10 year history of the Reflection 337s, there has not been any issues with the frame. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@RVSite2Sight same here, brother. I did an intense 5 day research on the 337RLS. It now stands at over 11,000 units sold since its inception, not one report of frame failure/flex, the highest selling unit in its class, it ranks at the top for not having frequency of repairs, the 337RLS is a wildly popular unit for good reason. We just towed our 2024 2,000 miles from Arizona to Minnesota and not one one problem. You're very correct, this is actually our 5th Grand Design camper. In our tenure of camping we've also tried 3 other brands. None of them compared to Grand designs overall quality.
Wise decision, we used to have a 380FL, we just bought a 2024 337RLS, it's a great unit with a very proven track record.
Hi folks. I checked out your channel. I too have been in business many years... 55 to be exact. I have found that success is built on failure. I tell people that I live my life out on the limb... why? Because that is where the fruit is. When a limb starts cracking behind me, I jump to the end of another limb. Some of my failures have been very costly. I make adjustments and move on. I'm sure Grand Design will do the same thing. I, like you, base my decisions on what is best for me. Others can do the same. I like what you say. Congrats on your new 337. And thanks for watching and commenting on my video. Steve
try Outdoors RV........ GD quality control is lacking....
Unfortunately, several RV manufacturers use Lippert frames. See my answer to lawrenceconstantine. Thanks for watching and commenting.
You seem like nice folks. I sure hope you did your homework regarding GD and their frame failure rate on the Solitude and Momentum models. Keep a close eye for it while you are under your warranty period.
We are. Mine is a Reflection. See my answer to lawrenceconstantine. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Just an FYI for you, the Reflection 337RLS has been in production for 10 years, has over 10,084 units sold just of that model, has no reported frame failures and wont because it's a much lighter unit and is a mid profile design. Very good camper with a very proven track record.
I think if you went to the factory to see how they were made you might change your mind. You will also have visit other manufactures as well so you can see how they should be made.
So far, my experience with Grand Design has been good, and I have had 9 RVs in the past 50 years. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I'm new here. Can't wait to see more.Waving Hi from Sadieville Kentucky
Thanks for watching and commenting, Allen.
Congrats on your new 337, we just moved up to a 303rls , really love the bedroom of the 337 but my truck would be overloaded. Enjoy!
We are anxious to get on the road again with the new 337. I am making some modifications right now. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Hope you don't get Frame Flex.
If I do, it will be because of the crazy mandates imposed on corporations with over 100 employess during the pan... Most corporations lost a huge amount of employees during that time, and now we are paying the price. Thanks for watching and commenting.
we have looked at all those and junk but most are towable with a 1500 or 2500 .I guess you have to give quality for that reason
I have owned 9 RVs during the last 50 years. Some bad, some good. However, my experience with Grand Design has been good. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Grand design is trash.
Hi Gerald, I guess everything is based on one's experience. My first RV was a 1970 Nomad. It was horrible. After that, the 1993 Prowler travel trailer was one we had for several years, and it was absolutely the best one in our history of RVs. I had several Fleetwood travel trailers (now manufactured by Heartland), and two of them were awful. We bought a new 2005 Fleetwood Providence motorhome, and it leaked from day one. However, we loved it. We just fixed the leak. I have a 2019 Grand Design Reflection 297rsts. It has been phenomenal. Now, our 9th RV is this Reflection 337rls. With 50 years experience RVing, I know RVs in and out, and my experience with Grand Design has been great! Thanks for watching and commenting.
Our solitude has been very good 12,000 miles and one trim piece fell off and one water line came loose.
Grand Design never again, look elsewhere or buy property and build a cabin. My GD 25G has been nothing other than me maintaining a rig that should have been solid from the purchase but was instead a leaking mess of a trailer with a frame that rusted from the time I brought it home. All trailer manufactures are poor, but others are better the GD, don't fall for their quality BS like I did and look elsewhere.

Glad you're so pleased with your new rv. Enjoy it's spacious comfort and God's traveling mercy. Great video.
Thank you, Josh and Karen. We are excited about this new RV. Right now, I am trying to get it ready to minimize the effort getting set up and camping. Fortunately, this one levels itself, so that really helps. The slide out tray that I have installed makes it easy to access everything. As I get older... well, I am definitely feeling it. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Take a look at the Jayco North Point and Pinnacle front living room models. Gorgeous and every Jayco model we have owned over the past 40 years has been problem free as far as build quality. Safe travels.
I did look at the Jayco North Point. It is a nice unit... just not for me. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Get the magnet box and store extra key underneath vehicle or hidden anywhere on vehicle.
I should've thought of that earlier.
Congratulations on the new camper.
Thank you!
Great video! God Bless!
Thank you!
Looks like a very nice camper! Someone dropped their camper off in my backyard and I’m thinking about selling it for some extra cash! 😉
You should!
Looks good but you havent explained whether the fix truly works or not with regards to bed flexing. I really like it and seems sound in mind by hitting both ends of the support for the bed.
It worked really well. However, since then, I removed it and installed a fifth wheel hitch for my new Reflection 337rls.
I actually have my 5th wheel attached to the truck with this in place without any issues and even towed my 5th wheel this past weekend a few miles. I followed your setup and purchased a 5250 3/8 piece of aluminum plating and basically did the same setup even with the extra notch I didn't need. Oops. I like how mine turned out, but think I too will put he extra 3 bolts into it. Just curious, were you able to /did you still use there angle iron underneath?? Definitely a ROBUST fix to their bed flexing issue, and I did also replace the original bolts with 3/8" longer to accommodate the extra thickness of the plate. Mine I mounted 90 degree turned to get it to tuck under the wall of my bed @@RVSite2Sight
how many minutes after you snapped the plastic buckle did it break?
I did that one back in 2021. I just used it yesterday. It works great!
Is that a 6.5 ft Chevy bed? If so would you mind sharing measurements?
Sorry, it's a Ford F-250 diesel
Pretty cool perspective. Definitely gonna give it a try. BTW dope landscape. 🏠😎
It was fun doing that. Thanks for noticing the landscaping. I put a lot of work into it.
Genius!
Thanks, Daniel.
Quick question though, did your tailgate close properly after installing that plate? I know on my F250 just the truck bed coating was too thick and caused it to rub but a 3/8” piece of aluminum would definitely keep my gate from closing.
My tailgate closes easily with room to spare. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I really like the way you corrected this issue. Most I’ve seen weld cross members under the bed and it gets very involved. This looks like it’s just the ticket for me as all I need it for is to lift my fifth wheel hitch in and out of the bed. Thanks for an excellent upgrade video to the Harbor freight crane!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching and commenting.
Pretty good job. I'm 67 & cant jump like I used to. Guess I'll get one. Thanks
