The reason your allied forces (British, French, US etc) were not moving along the rail track to North Russian coast, was because you kept placing units into the stack when it was already moving. It would take 18 days, but each turn is 15 days. So the first turn you moved them, the stack would be 3 days from the target province; you then put a unit in the stack (which hadn't reached it's destination), so the stack was reset to 18 days to destination.

HOI is not even close to realism its strategic focus and Wite is operational with strategic decisions. They ruined HOI with iv. No corps, few leaders, navy too complex, crazy division set ups. Crazy outcomes. HOI iv is a fun sci fiction game. It does not represent real war.

Glad to see it was not just me. The Eastern Roman Empire is a bit too difficult. It needs some way to deal with the loyalty issues that is better than what they have now.

I played over a hundred turns with the Eastern Roman Empire and I had rebellions almost every turn, and 3 Civil Wars. Not to mention all the border raids from the Fatimids and Turks. AI was not too passive for me.

Played about 100 turns with France on normal difficulty. The management part of the game is really fun but the AI is way too passive. Never really tries to fight me or build strong armies. Hopefully it gets better on tougher difficulties.

I'm very eager to find out how this game compares to the Pacific D-Day games. I really enjoyed them as a whole, but there were some aspects that were kind of clunky. SGS seems to keep improving, so I have high hopes. Thanks for posting this play-through XTRG!

Indian troops come from the Indian Territory. There are also Indian officers available to command them. Stand Watie and Tandy Walker are among the Indian officers available to the Confederacy. Other officers that commanded Indian units included Albert Pike and D.H. Cooper. Confederate Indian troops were mostly mounted but there was some infantry as well. No artillery of course.

Just some advice for any future campaigns. If you put all of your ironclads, other armoured vessels, and larger ships in a squadron you might do damage to one or more of the blockading squadrons. Ironclads have deep droughts and so have limited use on rivers which is the one area where the Confederacy can challenge the Union for control of the water. The ironclad squadron could also be used to guard Chesapeake Bay or one of the important harbours. They are very powerful vessels and should be concentrated in one group to maximize damage on Union ships. Cotton clad rams are effective vessels as they can be used on the rivers and along the coast. Rams in general can inflict serious damage on vessels they run into. A primitive and yet effective naval technology. I would also make sure that my best admirals are in charge of my best or most important squadrons. Onward to victory!

This is by far my favourite game & favourite period of American history. Currently going back to watch various archived campaigns. I’m of the opinion that the best way to learn about this game is to watch others play it. The more campaigns I watch the better. That’s how I look at it anyway. Hope to see you play the most up to date version of this game. A lot has changed.

Im wondering if they added a tool where you can add divisions in the factions pool, or if you can edit production metrics like equipment production rate and stuff. Edit: Also i loved your past series on this game and a new axis game with a different strategy or with rp house rules could be a fun playthrough
