i recently read the creative act: a way of being by rick rubin.
in rick´s words.. this is something my antenna received from the universe. the video is my translation of it: 25 rules of filmmaking insp. by Rick Rubin.
Nothing in this video is known to be true.
it´s a reflection on what i´ve noticed - not facts so much as thoughts.
the goal of art isnt to attain perfection. the goal is to share who we are. and how we see the world.
1. No matter what tools you use to create, the true instrument is you.
2. Rules direct us to average behaviours. If we are aiming to create works that are exceptional, most rules dont apply. Average is nothing to aspire to.
3. See limitations as opportunities. do what you can with what you have.
4. continually challenge your own process.
5. master the smallest details of your work.
6. try the opposite.
7. limit your practical choices to free your mind.
8. maintain the momentum. when on a roll keep going.
9. art comes first. you next. audience last.
10. be best in film school or never go to film school at all.
11. create creativity supporting habits.
12. it makes no sense saying you are not a good filmmaker. its like aying you are not good at being a monk. you are either living as one or not.
13. sometimes disengaging is the best way to engage.
14. create an environment where you are free to express what you are afraid to express.
15. each film can never be a total reflection o who we are.
16. find your own voice.
17. do your best work sharing it, not look back..
18. comparison is the thief of joy.
19. become a finisher
20. be and do rather than think and try.
21. sometimes the mistakes are what makes a work great. humanity breathes in mistakes.
22. editing is a demonstration of taste, editing is where the story is being told. editing is everything. never hire an editor.
23. submerge great work.
24. collect seeds, plant them and water them with attention. see if they take root.
25. perfection is finally obtained when there is no longer anything to take away.

I think this video is a little bit too fast paced. There wasn't enough pause for me to take in each point after you said it. I like the Casey Neistat style, but I couldn't quite catch up with the points. It was like #1...#3...#4...#6... #10. You jumped to the next point before I even finished thinking about the last one.

Schönes Video aber ich finde es beschämend das eine Moschee als Attraktion für Touristen dient. Eine Moschee ist ein Heiliger Ort wo Menschen beten, sich eine Gemeinschaft bildet und wo man Rat von einem Iman holen kann oder zum lernen.
Bin ich voll bei dir, aber es geht einfach natürlich auch um die architektonische Schönheit. Hier wurde etwas Besonderes geschaffen, dass man sich natürlich gerne ansieht bzw. zeigt.
@@LarsWagner Klar das kann ich verstehen, ist auch wirklich sehr schön. Mekka ist deswegen für nicht Muslime gesperrt damit halt nicht überall Touristen dort rumlaufen um die Gläubigen zu stören, sonst sind aber Ausländer bzw Touristen gerne gesehen. Diese Moshee wird aber anscheinend nicht wirklich viel von Gläubigen genutzt, eher eine Attraktion

I think India had been too extreme for you guyz,way too many people,weather, poverty and dirty streets too. If you ever plan on giving India another chance just don't visit these white tourist hotspot and rather go for South India and Himalayas,you will come to know how different is each part of india is. But yeah you definitely didn't like what Western tourist call the "True India Experience". P.S. you would need to spent a little more backpacking may not be the best way to visit the country.
