Is it hard to sway the bass drum like you did at: 6:45? I am now practicing the movement and it takes a lot of energy out of me, it is very fun though.

It's a tradition called The Three Knocks. The bass drummer runs up to that sign and hits the plaque three times on the word "Tradition" as a way to let everyone know that the band has arrived and is ready to take the field.
