How To Use a Drill Doctor
In this video I demonstrate the features and the use of a Drill Doctor 750x. The usage is very similar for all Drill Doctors, the 750x has the most options.

Wanted to watch the video, but turned it off before it even started due to too many bullcrap and long commercials for things I have zero interest in or use for.
Thanks for your feedback - But my channel is not monetised - does not even come close to qualifying. You are right though. I tried a different browser so youtube did not know it was me.. Some crap ad about some flame thrower thing.. Not my doing - other than deleting the video I have no control, and it is their platform I suppose. Cheers.
hands down best video i've seen super informative thankyou for your explanation.
I loved your video, the best video that I have seen yet!! It's great to learn how to use the Drill Doctor from someone who used to teach the owners of the device how to properly use it 😊. Now, after watching your video, I'm going to try to re-sharpen my drill bits that I destroyed the first time using the Drill Doctor. I used to sharpen all of the drill bits, 9/19” - 6” drill bits that used at Robert Bell Industries, Seaforth Ontario Canada, on a bench grinder by hand. However now I do not own a bench grinder but my brother out-law has a 750X Drill Doctor, that I used to destroy my bits with the first time. Thank you again for your video. Hopefully I have great success.😊
It would have been a lot easier if you had machined up a piece of silver steel and hardened it. I have done this and not tempered it so retain full hardness to retain best wear capabilities.
Why you use oil if you use carpide tools? Oil make only lot off smoke
your clueless in how to use this tool, that's not the way to do split drill sharpening.
Thank you. One of the best videos I've seen about this. I'm sure I've been using my Drill Doctor all wrong. I'm looking forward to getting it right.
Nice Wizza.. Wish you could'a kept all your hand movements, and results showing more! ..but this is great for 750x owners finding their way 👍😎✊
45 years in a mechanical environment. Not saying I know it all by any means but I know a little. Absolutely, without, the biggest piece of shit I’ve ever tried to make work. Tutorials, videos, OEM instructions. This is absolute shit.
Not sure you need slip gauges on a rough angle.
You don't use a gauge block for a 25mm micrometer, you close it up and look at the zero. You use a 25mm gauge for the 50mm micrometer. Just throw out all imperial equipment, its all junk. We are Aussies, imperial should be illegal.
Dr Doctor Teach a Toroyle ....... Shows the easy snap in 118 degree on the 500X , then jumps over to the newer 750 without fully showing how or what direction on the angle settings . There are nothing on the machine and written directions are lacking with detail.,referring to what angle you prefer. No wonder people get Pi$$ed .
If you sell these then you need to listen to Bill Davis in the comments he said it the best. This thing does not work like it's advertised and the instructions that come with it which you have to look up on line are useless . I've tried your method and mine still will not work correctly. Sad thing is it won't even work as a cheep boat anchor.
I bought a Drill Doctor 750X that came with WORTHLESS instructions. The first half of the video on their website is promotions; the second half has some help but should be more detailed. Calling them resulted in nobody knowing how to use it. Finally I found a video from Vermont Prepper that shows in detail how to use it. Once a person figures out how to use it, it is a good tool. But for a company who sells millions of these complex tools, they should have a detailed video.
Bill I agree with you 100% what you said is the absolute truth. And the strange thing is I've watched several videos on this tool and none of them will sharpen the drill bit then take it over to the drill press and drill a new hole. My guess is they are afraid of the failure .
You both hit the nail on the head
@@wampuscat1831 that was funny.. 👍😎✊
Thank you for making this video. Conversions between Metric and Imperial have always been, for me, not very equivalent, but I don't often need the sort of accuracy a machinist does. Just a thought, concerning epistemology of units of measurement... One- why is there such intent on expressing Imperial in Metric terms?... i.e. "1000th of an inch"? Second- when one looks at the natural world and common sense ways of measuring, we see nearly everything in base 12, as is the Imperial linear measuring system. We see time in base 12. It's like this due to movement in the heavens. Angularity- base 12. Many natural shapes- 6 sides. But we are impressed from the earliest age with this base 10 system of thought. A unit is a unit. One could express it in many ways or forms. It seems that we would be better off deriving our standards from what we can repeatedly measure in nature, which will be a base 12 system, and then re order our thought and expression of units per that more "natural" system. Just the so called "obvious" 0-9 or 1-10 system is imposing Metric thought on us, which to my mind won't harmonize with the natural world.
Thank you for the video. I watched three other videos on how to use the Drill Doctor 750X; none of them said anything about more aggressive or less aggressive cut, also nothing about sharpening a masonry bit. Thank you for being thorough sir. I subscribe and liked this video.
Thank you!
if locking nut bit more squishy, you might want to check maybe a chip trapped between tailstock and the bed resulting in poor seating/locking to the bed or chip between upper part and lower part tailstock, both case resutlt in tailstock out of alignment in vertical axis and more noticable when tailstock in fully expanded position
One turn of a metric micrometer=0.5 mm = 0.50 mm so 0.01 mm between two lines one turn of a imperial micrometer= ?? It is just the pitch of the thread what changes the measurement. With a metric micrometer you need two turns for a mm so the thread pitch is 0.5 mm
Make a video to show that you don't know anything about your lathe. Done
Great video mate. Learned some tips..
Why haven't you immediately scrapped all of your imperial machine tools and replaced them with metric, at enormous expense? Everyone has piles of cash, just lying around. All those factories that are equipped with 100 year old Imperial machinery should be nuked, at once.
5:19 there's your problem
Sure was a battle, glad you got it all sorted. Now just need to see some chips. Didn't see any Ewoks tho
I recommend you to zoom out a little your video we getting dizzy 😵 🤪
😮 First broken tap.... you need to frame that and hang it on the wall.
👍
Simple answer... Metric is more accurate cos it's based on science. Imperial is based on the length of some old dead kings left foot😁
Cor blimey guvna, you might be right.
And fractions get more than little confusing when you try to measure 927 2048ths of an inch. They basically converted fractions to a base 10 decimal type system which does work but still not as simple as real metric 👍
Metrologist here. Your issue is that your metric micrometer is 0.01 mm resolution and are comparing that to a 10.000ths inch resolution micrometer. You should compare it to a 0.001 mm micrometer. And the 10.000ths of an inch is the smallest division giving any sense as if you get any higher resolution, measurement uncertainty kicks in. I do not criticise your work, but in real you're comparing a metric tape measure to an imperial caliper, wondering why they differ.
Kinda wondering why you don't use a little form tool and do the groove on the lathe? or does the roughness of the ground cut help with gripping the wire?
Hi Bill, yes for non hardened steel I could have done it in a lathe. The original D-bit cut off wheel set up was to alter already hardened drive rollers. I tried to do them in the lathe with HSS but the roller laughed at it. I ground an existing carbide insert and that worked sort of..But had to use a fair bit of pressure to make the cut start... I thought it easier to grind it as the grooves are only about 0.47mm deep.. I could sneak up on the depth with more control...
👍 Ahhhh, that makes sense. I knew there would be a good reason. If you wanna try tool steel and get it heat treated, let me know. I'm set up to do that as long as you don't want nitrogen quenches 😁
Should definitely put a motor drive on the collet holder at the end there.
Good point. Might make a good project too.
That pin really was stubborn🤣 Spray mist works a treat 👍
Thanks bill, maybe I should have pulled out the side cutters earlier though..
New toys are always good 👍
I'd call that a convincing win 👍 Enjoying the narrative
Thanks Bill.
A good result but be careful about fingerprints, the oil from your skin can interfere with the reaction. I wonder if hot bluing would give better durability
Good point. I might find a project to do and try both methods
First 🙄 Good stuff Paul 👍 I'll try and send a few more subs your way mate🍺
Thanks Bill, I look forward to seeing your vids.
👍👍👍
Brilliant work. 💖💖

shame you didn't programme it like it says in the instructions........!!!
Does the ESC come with the xt60 Connector and also with the motor Connector do u have to solder or is there a connector
hobbyking has replaced twice. hope the 3rd time is a charm
