Had a similar needle scenario, food poisoning and dehydration put me in the hospital where they proceeded to poke me six times - and half of those they dug around trying to get a vein. I rolled with it as best I could since the alternative was continuing to feel like death was choking me out.

I've never seen a collapsed vein before, but from what I've heard combat medics tell, it's not a pretty sight. The puncture site turns into one enormous bruise from all the blood leaking into the surrounding tissues...
