So finally premium leather briefcase is done.
What sets premium leather bags apart from the rest is not only the quality of the leather used but also the skill and expertise of the artisans who bring them to life. I have been making bags for few years and this one is almost perfect. I’m still always updating and remaking some parts of this bag design.
Possible to fit even 15” laptop or any A4 size documents, with large inner zipper pocket.
Leather bag making is very complex and it’s made of lot of pieces. Each piece requires specific processing technique and time. I’m still in learning and developing my leather craft skills process.
Handles and handles holders are handstitched for most premium looking.
Briefcase is made of 3 types of leather: full grain black as main panel(1,8mm), italian vegetable tanned black “Lituanica”(1.2mm) as handles and Italian vegetable tanned black “Buttero”(1.6mm) as handles holders and other parts .
For lining I chose black dense polyester and hardware picked up silver color tone.

Nice work! Did you use any reinforcement between the leather and lining fabric? to retain the shape of bag while it's standing....
Thanks! No because this was very dense vegetable tanned leather so it holds shape very well itself but in general I use some material to reinforce shape of bags.

What motor speed are you using your sewing machine at?
I use JACK 513A servo on this current machine and also I have changed pulley on servo to 5cm and with wide pulley(16cm) on the machine so technically it runs starting from 200 to 500 RPM, but basically because of pulley it's even should be less RPM, I should say ~150-400 RPM. I love to sew kind slow but with maximum and good control.

It requires some craft skills for sure but in video you can see abbreviation of each process. If video was made full length I guess it will reach out more than few hours at least and it would be too long and too boring too watch :) Seems I will make another one video of duffle bag of less soft leather so stay tuned! :)

what material is the transparent one on top of the cutting mat?
It's rubber punching pad made from Polyurethane. I think you easily can buy it everywhere. Few euros but very handy when you need punch pad.

Thank you a lot! It's very dense vegetable tanned leather of 1.8mm. Honestly I think it's to thick for such bag or at least much softer leather is needed. It was complicated to turn bag over :)

For this project I decided to go for very dense vegetable tanned leather about 2mm/4-5oz. This bag will long last for years...it's heavy duty bag. Hardest part was to turn to other side. During short period I plan to make few videos with thinner and softer leather for this kind of bags. Thank you!
