There Are Healthier Ways to get Food Fast!
Hey everyone, Dr. Martin here! 🧔🏼
Every day, I talk to many people about improving their health, and nutrition is always a key topic because it impacts daily health more than anything else. With our busy lives, we often resort to drive-thrus for quick, convenient, and affordable meals, but these aren't the healthiest options. Instead, with a bit of foresight, you can create quick, easy, and tasty meals at home.
For example, you can pick up a bag of chopped salad and some deviled eggs from the grocery store in less time and for less money than a drive-thru visit. Or, you can keep ingredients for a charcuterie board-such as nitrate-free lunch meat, cheese, olives, pickles, and fresh veggies-on hand for a simple, healthy meal.
For breakfast, consider a protein drink with your favorite supplements, perhaps adding a Kind bar with nuts and dried fruit. This ensures you start your day with protein, healthy nutrients, and fiber without overspending or over-consuming.
These suggestions aim to simplify your meal planning, making healthy eating as convenient as a drive-thru. With a bit of planning, you can have efficient, nutritious, and cost-effective meals that support your health. Like, comment, and subscribe for more health tips! 🥗🍏💪

I think Medicare should cover things that improve our health. For instance, Medicare doesn't cover dental and its a fact that bad teeth affects your health, including your heart.
💯 what about using this technique for a person that has a practice of no sugar intake of the pros and cons worth
Amateurs who actually really believe that The Rock will sell you something healthy 😂😂Man this is a demon 😂
Thanks! Examples were important.
For me it’s usually the artificial sweeteners I’m looking at. Wish they can replace the sucralose and ACE-K in ZOA with stevia and monk fruit. Rather have a weird aftertaste in my drink than messing up my gut
I always run to GET A BASKIN ROBBINS SHAKE! But thsts kinda stopped. I keep 3 gallon tubs of BR CHOCOLATE at the house.
I'm loving it it does everything you said❤
Good work outs but I gotta mute Tony.
I did P90X at 18. I went from 0 to P90X. I was able to because i was so young. Funnily enough, im now in my 30s doing P90X again and im on week 6, showing up every day. I did however prepare myself for this by doing pushups, pullups to failure as well as curls, shoulder presses, lunges and squats. Its way different in my 30s, I'm feeling pain in certain areas i never did when initially doing the workouts. Before doing P90X you should definitely condition at least a few weeks before. If youre severely overweight maybe do Power90 first. Dont injure yourself trying to do it in 90days. Modify: this is so important. There are certain movements in P90X that are so painful for me to do i change the movement to target the same muscle. Do not get caught up in one of Tonys awkward lifts and hurt yourself. Some of the movements probably wouldnt be put in if P90X was made today. Just keep that in mind. Id rather do another set of a shoulder I've already done rather than injure myself doing that stupid scarecrow movement he has on the chest shoulders tri workout.
Prediabetes is defined as A1C of over 5.7% so she actually went into remission. Same as me, I went down from a1c 15.5% to 5.3 in a matter of 4 months and kept it in the low 5s for 3 years.
So it all comes down to the level of how fine you grind the grain? Got any studies to back this notion up?
www.nytimes.com/2023/07/07/books/review/ultra-processed-people-chris-van-tulleken.html Here's a review of the book Ultraprocessed People, which goes into great depth on the subject. Also, the glycemic index of white bread and whole wheat bread is identical - 71. This means that they both get absorbed and transformed into glucose at the same high rate. Therefore they are both processed and produced nearly identically.

Is honey in coffee to start my day bad
How much honey and how much other added sugar are you eating and drinking in your day?
1 teaspoon of honey and a bit of almond creamer after that just water until about 15 hours from my last meal

That’s not very nice. Is there a specific question you have?
I’ve committed to fasting from 7:30pm to around noon or 1pm the next day. Couple that with cutting out most if not all of my sugar intake and setting a calorie limit of 2000 eating more whole grain and natural protein from turkey breast, tuna packets and eating fruits like apples for snack on when I do need a snack and working out with basic push-ups and cardio 5 days a week with 2 days of rest. I’m only a week in but have notice a hefty amount of bloating gone and I’m starting to feel better over all
This is a recipe for health success!
You seemed to only go off on the sugar content… but you avoided that they have protein/fat/loads of potassium, vitamins, Amino acids. It helps with muscle recovery.
Thank you for highlighting this concept! www.bordendairy.com/product/dutch-chocolate-milk/ This link shows the ingredients in Borden chocolate milk. You are correct that it has 9 grams of protein, a little more than an egg and less than half the protein of a typical scoop of recovery portein powder, or nearly any low sugar ready to drink protein source. I agree with the healthy dairy fats and electrolytes, but there are countless ways to get those without the sugar. Amino acids are simply another way of saying protein. The problem IS the sugar. For starters its not the natural carbohydrate, its added sugar. Secondly, this amount represents all of the sugar allowed for women or 3/4 of the daily sugar allowed for men. So in my opinion, this is not a great choice for nutrition. Heres something protein and chocolate I do recommend fairlife.com/chocolate-protein-shake/
Yessir I know! I can’t afford insurance. I have insurance before I started seeing you as a patient. You TOLD ME I HAD TO CANCEL my insurance to keep coming to you. Excellent explanation, love your shirt.
Thank you! Plain shirts are boring, I like a bit of color in my day
The problem for me here is rice is a staple food where I live so is it wrong to break a fast by eating rice? And for me soup gets boring and isn't usually filling.
First of all I want to always be clear I am referring to a nutritional fast and not a religious or ideological fast. Since this is nutritional fasting, we don't follow the same "rules". The biggest and I believe most important effect on the body of fasting is reducing the amount of raw material (food) that the body has to deal with. Our body is excellent at managing low resources in the short term (hours to days). So practicing giving ourselves less food regularly and consistently it of great benefit. I am not talking about chronic starvation. I'm talking about skipping meals or eating only a very small portion. Also consider that to "break a fast" simply means the food we eat when we do eat. If rice is the main carbohydrate available, then pair it with equal amounts of vegetable and some protein. If your soup is boring to you, and not filling, then find a way to make it interesting and more hearty, without loading it up with sugar and highly processd carbs; usually by adding more or other spices, veggies and protein.
This guy has literally zero knowledge about this subject do not listen to this man he did a quick google search and decided the first thing he landed on was truth stupidity is dangerous when spread to the masses
I’ll get in there for that blood work u wanted one day this week Doc .
There is no way you can convince me that something man made in a lab is better than something that comes from a natural plant.
I would never try to convince anyone out of their deeply held conviction. Also, the whole reason the human body has a detox system (liver, kidneys, etc) is to handle all the toxins that occur in nature. Also, a large number of water molecules that we consume, and which fall from the sky, have been produced in a human made industrial setting. All molecules are chemicals Many natural chemicals are poisonous Many human made chemicals are not poisonous I wish it were simpler than that, but it's not.
GD Searle, Skokie, ail. Yes aspartame is very harmful! First hand research
I have many patients who report symptoms and side effects from aspartame. I always believe them and recommend they avoid. And, there are many natural ingredients that give people symptoms. That doesn't make that ingredient bad for everyone. I'm not saying aspartame is a health food. But for many people it is a much healthier alternative for a sweetener than sugar and fructose. Aspartame is 2 amino acids that you consume from other foods every day.
Where were you the night Laura Palmer died, Doctor Jacoby?
Typical MD spewing propaganda and lying to the public
Sugar is necessary for brain function. Its the high processed sugars that are bad in large amounts. Like corn syrup or high frutose corn syrup. Honestly its a pick your poison kind of topic with sugar
everything is bad in excess but yes the way you're body takes those is dodgy but cane sugar is fine in moderation
The body needs glucose for energy production. It can be confusing for medical professionals to refer to "blood sugar". That is not at all the same chemical as the types of sugar you see on a food label, unless it specifies glucose. You are correct about processed sugars. unfortunately, most people do not know how to tell the difference and food companies make it difficult to impossible to know. Also, our bodies can produce glucose from almost all carbs except fructose and fiber, as well as from most amino acids, so no real need to eat a bunch of processed carbs, either.
Thanks for the heads up. Doc
We so appreciate your time thank you for your
What I'm hearing is that the Artificial Sweetener lobby's lies and bribes beat out the Sugar lobby's lies and bribes. Winner: liers and bribers Loser: consumers. This guy seems really happy.
I wouldn't know about the lobbyist activities, I don't keep up with that. I'm more interested in definitive scientific findings, which is what I'm presenting. I'm okay with all skeptical thinking; I have a pretty good dose of it myself. And it's also possible to disbelieve everything, which is not a logical position to hold. If you don't believe in sugar or artificial sweetner information, then you are welcome to avoid them both. I believe strongly in the health value of truly natural foods as well!
@TimMartinMDAbilene why go for sugar or artificial sweeteners when things like maple, honey, stevia, monk fruit, organic cane sugar, xylitol, malitol etc... exist and are all shown to be better on the body, moderation is key and anyone saying otherwise should be ignored.
@@TimMartinMDAbilene my guy cane sugar is natural and you admitting you have done 0 research after claiming it was the sugar lobbyist that were lying is hilarious, we already know artificial sweeteners can cause kidney failure and such they have a purpose in moderation like for people with diabetes but in excess both are bad there is 0 reason a healthy person should avoid sugar for artificial sweeteners
sounds like something an artificial sweetener would say
You're wrong there, you hippie liberal.... while artificial not bad for us.... bad for bees, and that research is true.. no bees... no plants... no plants... no bugs for you to eat... and no food for us normals.. and real sugar is better.... pure cane sugar... there is no evidence that is bad for us if responsibly consumed. And it shows you have no self control....
I can only talk for Germany but here the sugar industry told in the 50ths the people that sugar is essential to stay skinny. Also that cigarettes are a healthy stress relieve. Insane what where possible in the past and what type of advert regulations we have now.
lobbying is legal bribery

Ive reached the point of aspartame toxicity at 60. I cant have it if i do i get very dizzy. I can no longer have diet sodas 😢.
There are other sweeteners out there. Have you tried monk fruit extract? It has an aftertaste if you know what to look for but it's subtle and not unpleasant imo
Just reduce your sweets intake. It’s hard because of how addictive sweet things are, but with all the conflicting information out there, reduction is probably the best option.
Regular sugar in moderation is essential to life.
No it's not lol
You get regular sugar from fruits, vegetables, and carbs. You don’t need to supplement sugar by drinking a mocha frappe add spoonfuls of sugar to your morning oatmeal😑
An we sue the sugar industry??
There was a study done in the 80s or 90s that concluded kids need a daily I take of 2 tbs of sugar per day, which was quite a bit more than the previous agreed upon 2 tsp. The study was funded by Coca-Cola.
If the word wrong was a video.
Enjoy your elevated A1C levels
What? You’re lost man if you think what he’s saying is wrong.
Sugar in moderation is better than artificial sweeteners, heavy sugar usage is worse than artificial sweeteners.
@@asomnss What do you mean by better? Better is such a subjective term. For me personally better means less calories so artificial sweeteners are better because many of them are 0 calories. What does better mean to you?
@darkcircle899 I think that getting organ failiure, toxic levels of compounds that your body can't process, strokes and alzheimers are all big negatives for artificial sweeteners as for sugar you see obesity, behavioral changes, diabetes and tooth decay as big issues, both are bad, both cause issues in certain quantities, I'll stick to sugar and alcohol sugars since my body was at least designed to break it down and since I have a history of alzheimers and dementia in my family but moderation is key regardless. Do your research though, calories are not everything, don't take my word for it, read up, your health is worth it.
Thats a good analogy
What about Red 40? Is that bad as they say?
No, it’s not. And it’s not banned in Europe, it’s just called something else. In fact, Europe has more approved food colorings than we do in the US. We have (I think) 6 banned in Europe, whereas Europes has 16!!!! that are banned here.
@@AndyKicklighter That's interesting. I might want to take a look at the banned colourants
Thank you for clearing it up!!!!! Can understand it so much better this way!!!
These videos about sugars and sweetners are great and have help me understand better. Thank you.
What’s the chances that the Joel from funhaus clip would be used 😂
