My dad used to umpire, but Little League and High School. He never threw anyone out of the game, but he did get a few dirty looks after a "called strike three."

Some of those catchers had good pop and a good throw that would have nailed those runners in 2022. Giving the runner 4.5" and not allowing the pitcher to hold the runner makes a huge difference.
