Football Fake: Ali Dia (Southampton)
zhlédnutí 1,3MPřed 14 lety
In 1996 Graeme Souness immortalised himself in football folklore by falling for an amazing scam that resulted in him signing a player, so bad, that it made Harry Redknapps decision to buy Marco Boogers look inspirational. It all started when Ali Dia, a desperate 30 year-old wannabe, convinced his agent to phone the Southampton boss pretending to be World Footballer of the Year George Weah recom...

Watched it in a bar in Phuket Town. Got a bit drunk after the 2nd goal! best night ever!
Altrincham fan here. This is the greatest moment in my fifty years plus of watching football. Jimmy Glassssssss.
Dirty bastard deserved what he got. Great ability but an over tolerated clown. Motson a tool. Mabbut, a Captain? Should have had more than a word. Ref? Should have booked him for 1st tackle . Spurs should have been down to 10 men.
My greatest night following this club had no voice for a week worth it though
I was present at Maracanã that day
On par with Troy Deenys Watford goal against Leicester!
Barnes was the most talented english player ever. Those days black players never got their dues
Brazil rested Falcao, Zico, Socrates, Eder, Careca, Cerezo, for this game , no wonder England won 😂
English sense of humor is all over the vid.
Agreed 💯% thats maybe why its called the beautiful game???
The Beautiful game
Simply The Greatest Goal Ever! Legend
Remember it like yesterday. Weak as piss refereeing. Gazza should have been off for his studs in the chest assault on Gary Parker, even back in those days. Milford’s excuse that the ref who sent off Moran for the first time in a cup final getting some stick just doesn’t cut it. Forest robbed that day.
Gascoigne was a liabilty in that game.
John Barnes was there wise, good, great player England and Liverpool had.
As if she remembers it!
Great footballer ❤⚽🙏
Scarborough lasted no more than a few seasons after this relegated them. Jimmy Glass is the reason Carlisle United are still around today
Wembley looked a cold dreary place back before they rebuilt it!
Real football at it's best
He was leeds united!!
This wasn't just a great loss for Torino, but a great loss to Italian football, Italy could have won the 3rd WC in a row and maybe even a 4th.
RIP Mike Yarwood!
Poland went on to beat 🇦🇷 Argentina, 🇭🇹 Haiti, 🇮🇹 Italy, 🇸🇪 Sweden, 🇱🇺 Yugoslavia and 🇧🇷 Brazil to end up 3rd in 1974, only narrowly losing to hosts and eventual winners 🇩🇪 West Germany! Some 'clowns'!
😮
One can only wonder what would have happened had Paul Gascoigne had a higher level of self-discipline in his playing career.
🔥
This. is. Football. Priceless.
was Revie talking about Billy taking the team to the away fans? bit confused here. thanks
Broke my heart ,bloody Sunderland
One of the best goals ever!!!
You cannot overturn games however farcical events.
Just watched this again and i will for years to come just magic
Cheated again
All I remember with John Barnes when he was playing for Liverpool was, "Barnes... Barnes again.... Barnes with the run.... Still Barnes....still Barnes..."
That was amaising match! In this time Poland good team beginnen!
Flipping friendly. Great player though
Oh dear the usual total hypocrisy of Leeds and their followers rearing its ugly corrupt head again . Leeds and Revie were very talented but utterly corrupt and total liars and cheats and thugs and here they are whining again . The truth is that in both matches Leeds were cheated and every decent person loved it because the cheats were cheated .
The year is 2023 June 3rd I just seen this moment on tiktok and came right on CZcams to watch the whole thing
If the internet was bigger then, this never would’ve happened 😂
A ref admits he was wrong?!!
Legends 🍀
Tik tok taught me about this game. Thrilled. What a goal. What a moment. Legend
Just hope they dont succeed in reversing Brexit.
I was there. Up the Blues! God bless Jimmy Glass!
Not a Carlisle fan but as a football fan this is emotional and what football is all about.
The Nottingham Forest fans have every right to feel robbed that Gazza wasn’t sent off. Taking emotion out of the equation he should have been sent off. Sorry Roger Milford, you let yourself down that day.
As Tomaszewski says, Polish team went to play that game as an ugly duckling and came back as a beautiful swan.
Another of Englands over rated players
People saying Spurs should have played 85 minutes with 10 men are correct. However even as a Forest fan I’d say we would have lost. We played an absolute shocker. Remember that Lineker missed a penalty and also had a perfectly good goal wrongly disallowed for offside. We could have easily lost 4-1.
Liverpool fan here. In saying that you are assuming that had Tottenham played 85 minutes with 10 men, that the match would have panned out as it did. Well there’s absolutely no certainty of that, and it’s highly likely that Cough,(not to mention the players), would have found a way to make Forest’s one-man advantage count. The bottomline is that Forest were badly disadvantaged by the disgraceful actions of the Ref, who bent over backwards to do everything possible to help the Psycho Gazza and his team.
