Rare footage of the Highwood Stringband!!!
Insane bassist, great music! Terrific upload, thank you sir!
Loved The Highwoods!!!
A mighty fine show!
Please notice the respect that Bill Monroe received as the procession got on the two lane highway. Every vehicle pulled over in respect. And the school we passed had many kids standing at attention saluting...... I wasn't able to move the camera to capure it appropriately. Today I watched this for the first time. Today I'd give the world if I had another battery for the cam corder, but hindsite is 20 20. If you would like the full story check out doughutchens.blogspot.com/2009/09/last-trip-home.html
Wow! Highwoods!
Thank you for posting this diamond. I have been playing guitar for decades in Church and such. Lately, I have been adding bluegrass, gospel-grass, and lead to my skills. The videos that you post are extremely important as well as entertaining to me. Again, thank you.
この頃二度目の来日をしていますが、東京公演での力強い歌声と火の出るようなローハイドのパフォーマンスを鮮明に思い出します。私の永遠のレジェンドです。
Translation, I think: This was my second visit to Japan, and I vividly remember the powerful singing voice and fiery performance of Rawhide in Tokyo. It's my eternal legend
What year and who where the members then?
Who's in the band? Ricky Skaggs on mandolin, Jerry Douglas on dobro, but that's all I've got. Anybody?
Wes Golding singing leads, Steve Bryant on bass
Terry Baucom on banjo
Thank you!@@susancollender6478
@@susancollender6478 On of my banjo heroes! I knew he sounded exactly like JD Crowe, but there were a lot of guys copying JD in that era. Wow--he became such an icon. Thanks for filling me in.🙏
7:56 Never heard Paradise done 4/4. It sounds better in waltz time.
Wow I’ve nev
Awesome! Anyone got more details and/or setlist?
So nice to see all these folks…☮️🎶🔛🌎
Ah yes, he got that gig money, and was like...oh , hell nah, im going country$$$!
This is great. Thanks for posting it. Bass players don't usually get much acclaim, but this guy is great. His playing in Dixiland 28:30 is of a quality that just isn't heard much now-a-days.
Well I thought you would have more comments than this. You know that you have a Grand Ole Opry star here Ricky Scaggs. This is his early days. I know he played with Bluegrass Legends. Come On y'all give it up for the band.
Skaggs with a "k" :)
He was always Bluegrass in his heart of hearts. The country era was just a flirtation albeit a profitable one.
This and your other vids are real treasures! Thank you so much for putting these online. Great moments in bluegrass history.
Wow thank you Doug. This is Gold my friend Travis in KY
Great stuff, Doug
I saw Ricky Skaggs make a cameo.....
Lord man. Gold here. Thank you Doug Travis
Thanks Doug for posting this great interview with Sonny. If you have additional recordings (opry or otherwise) of Flatt and Scruggs I would sure be happy to hear them.
Thank you so much for these uploads Doug. I live for this type material Travis
This is a fairly good recording for the way it was captured. Keep 'em coming Doug. If you are open to suggestion; I would love to hear the Flatt and Scruggs last performance on the GOO from 2/22/69, if you can turn that up in your collection.
