Hard project lines at Batu caves, Malaysia
Have you ever thought about climbing in Malaysia? There's actually tons just outside of Kuala Lumpur, from 5a all the way up to 8c.
This route is a project line that could potentially be another 8c... I won't be able to send it this trip but hopefully this video inspires others to come and give it a go!
The route is located at the "Volleyball site" crag in Gua Lepak, just around the corner from Batu caves. The crag is in the sun all morning so it's best to come around 2/3pm once its cooled off.
There is a small fee for this crag (10 ringgit for foreigners) working out at about £1.70

Nettie climbing “Small world” 7b+/c (5.12c/d in Thakhek, Laos
zhlédnutí 1,9KPřed 4 měsíci
This was LONG. I’ve sped up parts and cut out rests to shorten it up. Beta after the lip of the roof was not practiced, so definitely not the most efficient… Definitely not over after the crux, pumpy and droppeable afterwards.
Nettie sending “Dr Isa” 7c/ 5.12d Thakhek, Laos

Starts from the first “boulder problem” the very start is super easy) Alternative beta for less span at the first crux, couldn’t reach the left hand pocket. Uncut other than Dave pausing the drone as I rest
Trying out new foods in Laos

Our friend saw a video of us having no idea what we were doing at a Laotian bbq, so wanted us to try some other new foods. A rest day well spent… 😂
Technique Breakdown while climbing 8a

Dave sent "Can I play with madness" 8a the other day and thought it would be funny to try and repeat the route while narrating it! Did he succeed? Not quite... but it was funny to try.

Tonsai, a climbers paradise

🏝️Tonsai beach, Thailands version of rock climbing paradise 🇹🇭 Tons of athletic roof climbs on steep limestone, epic multi pitches, polished crimps, jugs and tufas on overhangs of various degrees. There isn't much in the way of beginner friendly climbing in these crags, since even the few "easier" climbs are now super SUPER polished. Most of the routes in the roof are essentially boulder proble...

Nettie sending “Zamboney” 7B+ (5.12c) in Perlis, Malaysia

Not the cleanest of sends but happy to get it on my second attempt! Clearly didn’t have the moves dialled but stamina is improving allowing for more faff 😅
Nettie sending “Fridge” 7C/+ 5.13A in Badami India
zhlédnutí 55KPřed 9 měsíci
Un- sped up version Great route, the grade is all in the finish, comfortable climbing into a heartbreaker crux.
Export Reject 7B+, Badami, India

The full send from David Bone doing Export eject in Badami India, one of the most iconic climbs of Badami, a must try if you come!
Strong stuff! Keep the vids going!
Thank you. I think we will start doing more CZcams soon 🙌
💪
Thank you 🫰
Love this style video !
Thanks dude!! Appreciate it
Bravissima!
Whoooa those are some nice holds for sure! Do you know if any of the private climbing guides in Tonsai will help us top rope in that area?
Yeah the guides go up to that area all the time :) it gets pretty busy
I hope you didn't have to strip those quickdraws afterwards
Permadraws! (Thank god 😂)
nice
Nice one! How long was the rope btw?
Thank you 😊 it was a 70m rope- the route is really long but the way down is much less than the way up because of the angle!
wow insane crag, have fun!
Thank you 🙏🏻 we are it’s great!
what a nice looking line
looks amazing
Wao this is so sick! I recognize Bee at the end too 😮
😂😂😂 the legend, this was a bit easy for her as you can imagine but she loved it
Well done! Where in the world is this route?
Thanks 🤙🏻😊 this is in Thakhek, Laos!
Such a cool route
Well done!! That was nice to watch! Congrats
Thanks so much 🙌🏼
So awesome 💪💪 Do you guys have a website or blog where you collect the best routes or spots in South East Asia? Also in case you haven't been yet, Crazy Horse in Chiang Mai TH is a beautiful spot! Keep crushing!
Hey thanks so much! We have an Instagram page where we are logging everything and we log our ascents on the crag.com too 😊 As for Chiang mai- we will definitely end up there!! We just did south Thailand before coming here and want to do northern Thailand later in the year
@@TheClimbingBackpackers awesome I’ll look for your ig and hit you up, really want to know where all those climbs are.Maybe we’re in chiang mai at the same time 😄 climbing out of the cave at crazy horse in massive fun 😁
Beautiful route! Where is it?
In the title! Badami, India :)
How disrespectful and arrogant 🙄
Please explain how exactly?
😂😂😂 his face when trying that squid was hilarious
You mustn't have done many then.
Literally hundreds, this is the most memorable one, is that okay with you?
damn son
🙏
Poetic last clip
Please do a series like this
I will try 😅
Noice
There is a message saying “translate this to English 😂”
Amazing!
Thanks!
Yes Dave, great video. Keep crushing
Thanks! Will do!
Really impressive; She's pawing around like the route is unfamiliar, was this a flash or a first go?
This was my 6th go 😅 I thought I’d got these moves fairly dialled but I guess not if it looks that way haha I did miss the left hand near the end and had to go to it again, otherwise I think I was just readjusting on the holds, they weren’t all super positive!
Climbers are just incredible
Such amazing line & rock & cool moves 😍
Thank you 🙏
Very nice video, and congrats for speaking while climbing an 8a😂
Thanks 😅
Can you just upload the footage with the sound cos this music kinda takes away from it
Unfortunately there is no sound as it was filmed with a drone- would no sound be better? If so I’ll leave the sound off next time :)
🤗👏
🎉
Nice send and beautiful rock! How did you film this? I assume it's not a drone...
Thank you ☺️ the crag is basically a corridor, so on the opposite side there is more rock- someone climbed half way up to film. 😁
I’m here for more😎
Why have bolts? Looks like good gear for most of the time.
Depends on the ethics in the area but generally speaking it's bad form to bolt routes with natural pro.
Trad isn't for everyone :D
well that looks awesome
This look absolutely nails for the grade. Very reachy. Thin. Major respect for the send.
Beautiful footage 👍 super nice angle with your drone ( saw your answer in another comments ok) Beautiful send 👍 You seem to have on sighted this right? Maybe flashed the start ? 😊
Thanks so much! Yea drone 😊 I didn’t onsight no- took the first time in to work the moves and did it on the first red point!
@@TheClimbingBackpackers beautiful first red point it is 😉 nice job 👍 love the drone footage thing ´ good stuff 👌
You made it look much easier than an 8a! Nice climbing .
7b+. Caps are for bouldering grades
Don’t worry I’m pretty sure people will be able to tell this isn’t a boulder 😉
@@TheClimbingBackpackers 😅 yup 👍
Really nice filming. How did you manage that? Its much better than a go pro imo
Thanks so much! We have a drone following me up :)
It’s not a real warm up ´ pumped 😅 it can happen sometimes you do a route for warming up that you climbed the previous day and it’s way different ´ so many parameters that can change from one day to the other ´ nice send anyway 👍 😉
Love these routes where it seems to get progressively harder and harder. The crags near me tend to have harder moves toward the middle or lower, which makes them feel super sketchy
what. the. fuck. was that bug at 2:50
😂😂😂😂😂 a gecko
Welcome to Malaysia, we have friendly reptile and animals welcome u to their home ground
@@TheClimbingBackpackers dude is super fast 🦎 never thought gecko could be so fast 😂 😂
Amazing looking rock
7c+??? 😂😂😂 5c+...
Amazing!!
Really cool the rute!!
