John's Train Videos
Registrace 2. 08. 2016
Welcome to John's Train Videos! I post videos mostly from the Greater Boston area. I like to shoot train videos while I'm out on bike rides. But not just on bike rides, any time I get the chance, I try to shoot a train or two! Most of my videos are real trains but I also have a little but of abandoned rail, lego train, and video game train videos too.
Northbound MBTA Train Flies Through Prides Crossing at High Speed!
A Northbound MBTA Commuter Rail train on the Rockport portion of the Newburyport/Rockport Line flies through Prides Crossing at what sure looks like full track speed. I was standing on the other side of a small fence and it still felt like the train was going to blow me right over. This one DEFINITELY counts as a fly-by!

MBTA - Salem Station
zhlédnutí 126Před 9 hodinami
An inbound MBTA commuter rail train on the Newburyport/Rockport Line makes a no-so-quick stop at Salem Station. It's a very long platform and a few people were waiting at the 'wrong' end of it and had to run all the way to the train. A little bit to the left of the platform is the old branch that went into peabody. I think it's still attached and technically in service, but there are no more fr...
Inbound MBTA Train at Prides Crossing, Beverly

An inbound MBTA commuter rail train passes through the out-of-service Prides Crossing station in Beverly as it heads South to Boston on the Rockport piece of the Newburyport/Rockport Line.
Evening Trains Coming and Going into North Station
zhlédnutí 78Před 14 hodinami
I had great timing tonight, 5 different MBTA trains coming and going into North Station on all of the North side MBTA lines: the Fitchburg Line, the Lowell Line, the Haverhill Line and the Newburyport/Rockport Line. If I had waited another 40 minutes or so, I could have caught the gravel train too. But I had places to be and pedaling to do! I filmed from two different spots, both near B.E.T. (B...
NHN Gravel Train in Woburn
zhlédnutí 98Před 14 dny
The NHN Gravel Train has been very elusive lately! But I finally caught it! Here, the train just passed South through Anderson Station in Woburn and is passing by me as I stand behind Atlantic Plywood, near New Boston Road. This is near the end of the line for this train, it's very close to Boston Sand and Gravel, in Boston. This is on the MBTA Lowell Line.
Amtrak Downeaster Moving Fasssssst!
zhlédnutí 136Před 14 dny
And outbound Amtrak Downeaster heading North through Mishawum Station in Woburn. It's heading to it's first stop, Anderson station. This is on the MBTA Lowell Line. No trains currently stop here as mishawum is currently out of service. And this train was really moving, felt like it was going at 100% of track speed which I believe is 79 MPH through here.

MBTA Commuter Rail Stops at Wakefield and Holds Up a Firetruck
zhlédnutí 299Před 14 dny
The last outbound train of the day on the MBTA Haverhill line makes a stop at Wakefield. A firetruck had to wait an extra minute or two for the gates to go up. Also note that the train is on the inbound track. The outbound track is currently out of service from Wakefield to Reading.
MBTA Commuter Rail Stops at Wilmington Station
zhlédnutí 137Před 14 dny
A Southbound/Inbound MBTA Commuter Rail train on the MBTA Lowell Line, makes a quick stop at Wilmington station on it's way South towards Boston. The switch right in front of me is the start (or end) of the Wildcat Branch. The lighting at this station is odd. It looks well lit when there is no train. But once theres a train, you see that the lights are so low, the only light the walkways and no...
Back to Back Amtrak & MBTA at Mishawum in Woburn
zhlédnutí 59Před 14 dny
Back to Back Southbound trains at the currently-closed Mishawum station in North Woburn. First an Amtrak Downeaster heading for Boston. Then an MBTA Commuter Rail train right behind. The Downeaster came off the Wildcat Branch, while the Commuter Rail train came all the way down from Lowell. No trains currently stop at this station, which is why the trains are going so fast through here. And yes...
MBTA Train Passes Through Winchester Station at Night.
zhlédnutí 109Před 28 dny
A Southbound MBTA commuter rail train passes through Winchester Station on a warm Summer night. The station is currently closed for construction as it is being fully rebuilt. The story goes that they were going to include a gauntlet track on this station to accommodate oversized freight, since this is the primary rail route in and out of Boston to the North. But then they remembered they hate f...
Evening Trains at Lincoln, MA
zhlédnutí 526Před 28 dny
An outbound and an inbound train stop at Lincoln station on the MBTA Fitchburg Line. I have never seen trains stop at this station so I was not sure how the inbound was going to stop. I thought it was going to switch over to the other track but instead it stopped way down on the other side of Lincoln Rd. There are a lot more single-platform stations on double-track lines on the MBTA system than...
MBTA Stops at Greenwood in Wakefield
zhlédnutí 252Před 28 dny
An Outbound MBTA commuter rail train makes a quick stop at Greenwood in Wakefield. This is on the MBTA Haverhill Line. The message board indicated the train was coming on on the "wrong" track, I'm not sure why that is. I didn't see any active track work going on tonight so I don't know why.

Excellent video my friends awesome like 👍🏻 Greeting 🙋🏻♀️ from Argentina 😊
Gotta love the EMDs working hard
Was this yesterday?
Yup! First time ever being here. I was in the area so I pedaled over.
Thought this station was closed?
"no comment" ;-)
I question the new bridge's purpose tbh...
Well for people on the woburn end of new boston road, it will be a quicker way to get to 93. Its a bit of a bummer for me, that area is always totally dead at night but now that it will be a through-way, it will have a lot more traffic.
Every evening even on weekends? What time does it usually show up at Boston Sand and Gravel? I've been wanting to catch this train but I need to plan since I know it's at night. Great video too!
Ah, 1716's weird set. 1708 has it too.
4:30 it's about time the north side MBTA is finally adding more double-decker cars to its trains rather than the standard one
I remember when they came out in the very early 90s. Then suddenly they all disappeared for decades.
have yall even heard of the southside haha
@@PatriotAndAlbanyProductions It's too far to pedal all the way down to the south side lines :)
@@JohnsTrainVideos oh i understand lol, its quite a ways away from north station.
Welcome back!
Back? Back to the night trains?
0:57 you never see those types of coaches on the Northeast Corridor
A rare day time video
I know! Daytime videos come out so much better but the timing rarely works out!
The midday Haverhill line trains VIA the Wildcat are only temporary until the second track between Greenwood and Reading is rebuilt. NHN also uses both the lower Haverhill and Lowell lines.
I thought the rush hour haverhill trains have always gone down the wildcat, for decades?
@@JohnsTrainVideosthere’s a few that have, the current 9 AM-4PM trains are only temporary though. On a normal schedule, there’s about 4 Haverhill trains a day that use the Wildcat.
Hmmm anyone else notice the click clack over this switch kinda sounds like the beat from some 80s song but I can't quite put my name on what song it is.
Ah, silly old 1711 leading.
Nice Amtrak heritage unit
Are you talking about #90406? Is that another Cabbage car in retro paint, or is that a real locomotive that is shut down and being used as a cab car?
@@JohnsTrainVideos no the leading engine 100 on the first train
@@Primeandfeastablescollector10 Ahh gotcha!
Great John, well done!
Is this area accessible to the public?
It seems to be kind of a grey area, it's unclear if it's a full blown road or a private driveway. I wouldn't go here during a workday. But I imagine if we stay under the radar, it will be fine.
The final 1600
Horizon car. Yuck.
Is that the first car behind the real locomotive? Whats up with that?
@@JohnsTrainVideos They're gradually coming to the Downeaster to replace the amfleet cars. Those amfleets will go down to NE corridor services (Keystone, NE Regional, Vermonter, etc) until the end of their lifespans. They look really similar to comets on the outside, but the inside looks really similar to an amfleet.
I was actually riding that, but I got off at wedgemere!
HAH! I was at Wedgemere, and West Medford before that. But it was cold out and I didn't feel like waiting so I ended up on Cross St. The lighting here is terrible, West Medford would have been my preferred meeting spot!
@@JohnsTrainVideos Yeah I went to wedgemere earlier yesterday as well. Wasn't there for a while but I saw Midnight Blue Amtrak #100 pass with a friend which was nice.
@@MbtaVideoClips Yeah I saw a downeaster through the trees when I was pedaling up Mystic Valley Parkway. I wish they had better live maps for amtrak trains.
Yeah they've been having issues all day yesterday and now today as well. They've been talking over the radio a lot because of it, including requesting permission to pass the red signals.
Oh nice! When were you there?
I believe it was right around 9PM
@@JohnsTrainVideos Wow! I could never go that late… Would be too tired.
@@MbtaVideoClips Me and my cousin stopped by on a bike ride, then we haded to medford square and then back to stoneham
@@JohnsTrainVideos Ah neat
do you remember what time this was?
Oh sorry, no idea. I don't save the raw videos either so its long gone.
There goes another mechanical bell 😭💔
What is the benefit to an electronic bell over a real physical bell?
@@JohnsTrainVideos e bells are just so common nowadays, they glitch and malfunction often aswell. Mechanical bells are old school. this is all my my opinion
1805!
It was for the halloween event. The North side needs more of them, it has new control Kawasaki cars but are plagued by old outdated Kawasaki bathroom cars on the north.
1643/1066
How do you get shots from down there?
I lurk around on my bike finding good spots :)

Grey area@@michaelroy3203
The secret ingredient is crime
If u want to catch it, the Newburyport/Rockport line has 2 full bilevel sets (with cab cars 1805 and 1814) for this weekend only. Pretty rare trains
I just happened to see one tonight going over the Mystic River!! I couldn't believe it! The MBTA must have made some mistake, accidentally giving the North side some non-garbage equipment :D I took a video of it, I'll post it in a few days.
@@JohnsTrainVideos Nope, they moved them up for the increased ridership this weekend for the extra Salem trains
@@MbtaVideoClips oh I guess that makes sense. Did they cross the grand junction linked together? I would love to see that even more than seeing them in service on the line. ALSO hows about we get some more double deckers up here full time! I say that like I need the room but actually I haven't been on MBTA CR since maybe 1990. I just want double deckers because they look cool and I want to film them :D
Sweet footage!
1071!!!!
that weird e bell that some stations have really gets on my nerves
Yeah it's annoying but it makes sense here since the station is around a curve and there is a pedestrian crossing across the tracks. You could easily find yourself standing in front of an oncoming train.
makes sense@@JohnsTrainVideos
Were you at belmont yesterday around 2:45ish? I saw someone from #419 and i dunno if it was u
Nope, this video was from about a week or so ago, and it was the only time I've ever been to belmont station.
Ah. I wonder who it was then@@JohnsTrainVideos
Did he have an afro? If so, i know that guy!
FRIGGIN 1126 PIECE OF GARBAGE
?
Nice video
Thanks!
Great shot
Haha I see myself. Nice meeting yah indirectly. Hopefully u saw the deadhead as well
I got all sorts of weird activity up in Wilmington. I need to throw the videos together and post them.
Oh cool
Sweet sunset footage
All trains bound for haverhill will deadhead up the lowell line to the wildcat branch’s for 2 months
The more trains on the lowell line, the better! I wish we could get more freight!
Agreed
YEAH!!!! I love going to woburn to see those. Gives me a boost of energy seeing those things pass by just a few feet next to me.
If you look real close, you can also see Green Line trolleys going over the viaduct in front of the Museum of Science! Skip to 3:25 to see the train go over the bridge.
My favorite (and closest) station!
You got one of the rare CTC-4's!
Not rare anymore ever since the expanded Rotem fleet took their place down south.
Nice Catch!
Good ole 1123. Nice catch!
Figured I'd mix it up and go someplace I haven't been before. This part of Waltham isn't really on the way to anywhere so I've never been here before,
That’s cool. Gotta explore around the routes :)
U probably missed DOBO
Did it come through late last night? This was probably around 10:30 or so. I haven't caught DOBO on video all year, I keep hoping I catch it at Mishawum since it's so well lit. Hopefully they don't start shutting the lights off!
Sweet video!
I've noticed those green lights on the phone recently, (because of another light source reflecting or something). How long ago have you seen them? Also cool train
It's just a typical lens flare that you'll get on a camera at night when there's a very bright light source around. You can see as the train gets bigger, the green "lights" get bigger too and it looks like a mirror flipped version of the train lights.
cool
Nice shots, I love the first shot especially, 1122s HEP Generator sounds nice.
Imagine how good my videos be if I hit up all my normal spots in DAYLIGHT :D
