Enhanced audio, in glorious MONOPHONIC SOUND, just like we listened to it on AM Top 40 radio in 1964 and '65 when this awesome song was on the charts. For you reaction video people: They're not really brothers. Bill Medley, the tall guy with the dark hair and the deep voice, and Bobby Hatfield, the shorter guy with the blonde hair and the higher-pitched voice, started performing together in Sou...

If there's one thing these past few years have taught us, it's just how fragile our democracy, and indeed, our freedoms truly are. On this Memorial Day, please take a moment to reflect on the sacrifice made by those who came before in the interest of preserving our freedoms. Because just as easily as they have been given to us by the framers of this nation's Constitution, they can just as easil...
WHB's Illegal Legal ID jingle

WHB was the big top 40 station in Kansas City in the '50s and '60s. They had a lot jingles. In around 1966-67, this one ran at the end of their newscasts every hour at the top of the hour as the station's Legal ID. The FCC requires stations to identify themselves by call letter and city of license once an hour, and in the '60s, they were required to do it twice an hour. But when WHB ran this ji...

WHB had a lot of jingle packages...and a lot of jingles. All from the biggest radio jingle company in the world at the time, PAMS of Dallas. Here is their "Super Fun" jingle from 1967, part of the Super Fun campaign that ran during that time.
In Memoriam: Gene Woody

Sad news today from the wife of Gene Woody, that he has recently passed away. Gene was the overnight deejay for radio station WHB 710 in Kansas City during most of the 1960s when I was growing up. Gene held down this position while during the daytime hours attending med school to become a doctor. His wife informed me this morning of Gene's recent passing, and I humbly offer this video as a smal...

Listening to my horrible singing voice is punishment enough, so I've made it fractionally easier to tolerate by shooting some video of my dog Oreo and syncing it all together into what I'm calling my first "music video." Hey, there is one redeeming quality: It'll be over in only a couple of minutes. :-). (Oreo sure seems to enjoy the snow.)

“I heard it on the X” Is everyone going to ignore the fact that ZZTop wrote a song about this radio station?
I love this version so much and I don’t know why the remastered version by classic hits studio was removed
Richard Ward Fatherley helped me get started in Radio in the Kansas City market. He was very kind and encouraging. Rest In Peace my dear friend....
Love this early footage of the righteous singing of the Righteous Brothers! Wonderful talents both of them! 👍
Actually 144KW but only at night. And completely prerecorded (not automated) until the late 70s.
Who conducted this recording and who played on it. Does anyone know?
Earle Hagen (composer) conducted, no idea who the studio musicians were though.

We all need a little Christmas ❤every day❤😂😊
Lovely song - well done 👏🏻
I was born in 1984. My parents had trouble getting me to sleep when I was younger, so they tried putting this station on at night and it worked like a charm. I listened to The Oasis every single night all the way through 5th grade and it was a combination of loving the music and the music (and the DJ's voice) relaxing me to sleep. Even just listening to this bumper makes me feel sleepy to this day haha.

As someone who lives in Southern California I picked up XROCK RADIO all the time in my teens and 20s Now at 64 , for about 5 minutes I felt 20 again. Totally enjoyed X ROCK 80, It was a part of my youth.

My Station!!❤ Back in the 60's❤❤
Back when 'D J's" were really d j's.!!!!
Thank you for this. Such a tremendous song, and a great performance. I had the pleasure is seeing Bill Medley and his partner, Bucky Heard, in concert last month. They put on a great show. Bill’s daughter McKenna was also on the bill; a talented singer. Bill sang one of his newer songs, This Will Be the Last Time (I Sing the Blues), which earned a standing ovation from the crowd. He’s a legend.
With all due respect, in my opinion the Anita Kerr jingles are far beyond those of the Johnny Mann Singers. More dense harmonically and textured brilliantly as the group goes back and forth between octaves and perfectly voiced 4-part.

I remember listening to X Rock 80 with my dad, on our front porch, on summer evenings, in the 70's. My dad was a radio fanatic, he had all types of radios, including short wave, and CB radios.

Hola
I was a kid in Kansas and would ride my bike to the field where kudl was located in that little White House. I would go inside and watch Mike Darcy or Robert w walker work their air shift. They were very nice to me and let me sit in until I got bored and left. There was a young man there who would sweep up the studio. I think that kid was you.
This song helped catapult Tom Cruise's 'Top Gun' to its highest fame! Powerful and sentimental indeed!
This is the only way I could simply say thank you for the Unchained Melody video which is sensational and showed that Bobby Hatfield is perhaps the most underrated singer ever heard. Sorry to be dumb but why are the comments switched off for that ?
I think Bobby Hatfield,( in my opinion ) was the very best singer in the very late 50's and early 60's and still his songs stirs my heart...and I am 80.
@@rachelw.gaskins2761thanks, same here, @ age 76…….etc.😊
I adore both these guys but hearing Bobby's voice still gives me the chills ❤
I wish you had the comments on Bobby's unchained melody. I am smart enough to understand why you have it off. I sing that song weekly,I would say it may be at this moment my favorite song for the past several years. I will sing this one too.
This one of their songs that i used to play in my yester years reflection. aside from their other song. the theme of the movie..THE GHOST...
