Ghost Town Alive! Full Day Experience Knott's Berry Farm 2024
Ghost Town Alive! is a fun, interactive live outdoor storytelling experience at Knott's Berry Farm. Starting at 10 am and ending at 4:30 pm with a dance hoedown, the town of Calico comes alive with live performers telling an unfolding story about the goings on during Founder's Day. The Mayfields and the Mad Bucks have ended their feud, but some habits die hard as a huckster comes to town to sell folks on the benefits of new-fangled electricity. This video shows various happenings during the whole day, along with close up conversations with some of the citizens of Calico. Look for my other shorter video of the story highlights.

I had one of those playsets when I was a boy and I loved it. I'm doing some important healing work involving that time in my life right now, and all that remained of the playset I loved was a scan of a blurry, faded black and white photo from 1963, so I started searching and found this video! I can't thank you enough for posting it. It's a bigger help than you'll ever know.

The Wicked Witch was a pretty good animatronic, and that scene was a highlight of the ride, yes sadly it closed, they should have put Mickey and Minnie in a brand new building.

The Cranium Command entrance also had a different design at that time compared to when the attraction closed in 2007! I believe they changed the design of the entrance and Buzzy’s clothing in 1992 which is also when the pavilion entrance sign was replaced.

@@tokaydiz Pretty much Buzzy originally had a red and blue outfit that was the outfit of the original main character planned for Cranium Command which was changed to Buzzy very late in production and they didn’t have time to update his outfit to it’s final design until 1992! :)

Love the interactions of the knotts cast with the guest. Makes the trip more enjoyable BUT do MISS the stunt show. It was my family highlight. Upset its gone.

I can't remember exactly when I went to the then Disney/MGM Studios, but Wikipedia says it opened May 1, 1989

It was a mistake closing this ride. I blame those satanic Harry Potter fans for it. This ride was truly one of the greatest attractions in American history.
I agree, this was a realistic, thrilling ride, kind of like a scary Jungle Cruise. The Jaws portion of the Universal Hollywood Tram Tour is lame.
The ride was causing problems for Universal (needing to drain the ride due to gas leaks, the explosion costing them quite a bit of money daily, etc.) There is a rumor that the expansion for the Universal Monsters land in Epic Universe will involve a “Creature from the Black Lagoon” boat ride - let’s hope it’s similar to JAWS but with modern tech that allows for a long shelf life

Omg thank you for sharing this! I was just curious. Only DCA was available for my day I wanted to reserve. I thought it meant I could only go to DCA that day.
Yes, this is what I used to think, but if you have a Magic Key pass and DCA is the only park available when you reserve, go ahead and reserve it, if you arrive before 11 am, you have to enter DCA first. After 11 am, you can then go to Disneyland. If you arrive after 11 am, you can enter either park. The reason is the Magic Key is a park hopper, but the wording makes you wonder if you can go to both parks. I'm glad someone else had this problem understanding and that I was not the only one, thanks!

What I realized is that the policy regarding one park being available is not outlined clearly, but some people assumed it meant you can go to both parks because you have a park hopper or annual pass. I assumed the more restrictive possibility. Thanks for your comment!
