What ship were you on?

Went through the bay of Biscay on the IOTS with 12 mtr swells, not a great intro to cruising but didnt put me off. The Capt said that usually only professional sailors would sail through that. There was a cctv image of one of the ships stabilisers actually out of the water.

5.5 meter swells were the biggest I've had on a cruise ship. It's amazing that a 160,000 tonne ship rolls up & down the waves like that. I always feel safe on a cruise ship as I know they are built to handle much worse than that. I remember a captain once said his ship was built to handle a force 10 gale but it was his intention to never test that claim out.

My working life was at sea I experinced many scary days and nights in storms with great magnatude.

Is that terrible ‘elevator music’ playing all the time ? I’d have thoroughly enjoyed the excitement of the storm but that music would have driven me nuts!!!

You got some great shots there! We had the luxury of a roundtrip crossing a few years ago, and that was in July/August. Don't underestimate the winds and inclemency of the mid-Atlantic even in the dog days of summer. If you're crossing the Atlantic, take a warm jacket along--you'll be glad you did.
