RailCats Quick Minute Flipped The Script
Okay! I don't want to hear any more crap from Chuck when I wear the other team's jersey or hat! 😂😂😂
lol well now you have something to come back at him with lol.
I didn't like giving up an out to move the runner over.
I rather take that then trying to score the runner from 2nd and the way the inning went if you didn’t sac bunt there the game would have continued. The pitching was good in the game so sometimes you have to sacrifice an out to move the runner. I’ll take that any day of week in that situation.
That game one has to be one of the best pitching performances I've ever seen at the SteelYard. And I've seen some good ones.
It's funny to celebrate an error like that, but they did put themselves in a position to win, and sometimes those are the breaks you need.
Thank you for all of your insights and expertise........All of Your Subbies Love It!!!!!!❤
I expected better defense from Quintana.
One of my sources in Sioux City said that Nogowski has been looking for a fight since day one.
Yea I heard he isn’t well like inside the locker room either. He’s all bark no bite
I never seen such a die hard fan of an Independent baseball tea. Most fans go to games to socialize, eat what's on the menu at the concession stands, any other activities they have there, and go home. Too bad y'all can't phsyically play the South Bend Cubs. It would be a nice ol' minor league rivalry.
There’s a lot of die hard Independent league fans. But most fans of smaller leagues even affiliated ball will have higher causal fans than die hard fans. Also independent baseball is more intriguing as they don’t have a big club doing all or most of the moved.
@@railcatstalkpodcast It definitely is. I wish you had more views man.
I do not want the 'Cats playing South Bend, unless the current team leaves. In that case, I'd love for South Bend to join the Association.
We socialize and eat, but also watch the games.
It was really windy Tuesday, and blowing out to LF. But the wind had nothing to do with Rincon's HRs. One was way up on the net, one hit inches from the top of the scoreboard, and the last one went over the netting. They all would have went without the wind, but maybe would have only been on the concourse.
I could hear Lamarr all the way behind the bullpen.
Yea he was trying to keep thing calm didn’t work lol
I'm curious. What MLB team are the Gary Railcats affiliated with? I live in South Bend. The South Bend Cubs obviously are affiliated with my Chicago Cubs. Before that, they were the Silver Hawks and affiliated with the Diamondbacks, and before that the White Sox. I gotta give you credit for going to Railcat games, even though Gary is a super sketchy town.
The RailCats are in the American Association which is an MLB partner league but really it’s just an independent league so they are not affiliated with any MLB team
@@railcatstalkpodcast Does that stadium ever fill up?
@@DCSk8er529 on special nights but the average attendance is around 2,500 to 3,000. But it’s close to 1,500 to 2,000 a night
@@railcatstalkpodcast Gary definitely needs them considering all the bad things that happened in Gary.
@@DCSk8er529 yea Gary gets a bad rap but nothing has happened inside or outside the ballpark while games are going on. You have better chance of something happening in at a white Sox game vs a RailCats game
The sound quality was bad. Even 95.9 had the Milwaukee broadcast. There seems to be issues with AATV in many ballparks, and the league needs to address it. Letting fans watch on AATV for "free" doesn't mean much if the product is garbage.
I miss Ryan Zimmerman, btw.
Have to give Andrew time remember 2 year ago I mentioned something about Ryan and you said he is starting to grow on you. It’s just a change in broadcast. It also doesn’t help when the team isn’t succeeding.
It just feels like this is how the season is going to go...
I believe I heard Andrew Mild say Valera has an eight game hitting streak going back to last season.
I was just basing it off of this year not so much last year. Yea I get it technically extends from last year but it’s last year
Defense is more than just errors. I'm not convinced that this is a defensively sound team.
Yea but errors are a big part of it as well. It’s also 3 games in so there’s gonna be little rust there. Like I said there is nothing that raises red flags on the defensive side of the ball besides pitching
One hundred games sounds like a lot, but it's really not. Starting 0-3 is a huge hole, when this team hasn't shown that they can go on a long winning streak.
I absolutely love & appreciate how you "break it down" for those of us that need more information.
Such amazing commentary about The Railcats!!! You are so educated and informed about The Railcats - absolutely love the insight!
Yeah, I think this rivalry is one-sided. Dogs fans probably aren't as concerned about Gary as we are about the Dogs. For me, since the Dogs have been in the league, I've seen the 'Cats play them more than anybody else. In all those games, I've only seen the 'Cats beat the Dogs once. And that was called mid-sevemth due to rain.
Where is Del Valle?
I forget but he’s posting stuff on his instagram stories that of him still playing
Rob Pannier has the 'Cats being the biggest disappointment of the season.
Oh let me put my shocked face on lol
I'm not ready!
What I want to know, is why is Lamarr in Gary? This is a guy who should still be in affiliated ball.
We need to bring Heidenfelder back just for "Tales From the Bropen." And if he wants to pitch, even better. 😂
"The Pole Guys" in Windy City.
Not going to Cleburne this year. The eclipse and the ASG will be my only real roadtrips this year, at least outside of the Chicago/Wisconsin area.
Are you going to the Sunday Royals game? I LOVE Kaufmann. I've only been to Chicago, Milwaukee, and K.C., but Kaufmann is my favorite MLB park.
Yea I believe we are going Sunday
I've never heard Terry Bonadonna call a game, but when I went to Windy City last year, his self-published book was on sale in the team store. It's obviously following the Thunderbolts and the Frontier League (during the 2017 season, if I remember right), but it was still an interesting look at independent baseball. So it's cool that Andrew has that connection.
And I know if he learned from Terry, he'll be prepped for each series.
I'm not so lucky. I can remember Caray and Santo. They were both awful. But at least I can't remember Harry with the Sox.
Look at two of the more popular Association broadcasters, Danny Vaughn and Brad Allred. They're both homers, and I love it. If I turn on one of their games in the middle of an inning, I don't need them to tell me the score, I can hear it in their voices. If Andrew follows that mold, I think he'll be an immediate hit around the league. Sam Brief and Steve Schuster were the same way. Not to say that Ryan didn't have his moments, but I didn't automatically know the score from the sound of his voice.
Seven HRs would have been pretty high on last year's 'Cats roster.
I'm going to miss Ryan. Great broadcasts, great guy. I told him the last day of the season that I don't listen to him as much as I should (at every home game, and when the 'Cats are on the road, there's a good chance I'm at a Dogs or Cougars game), but he understood. Always enjoyed the broadcast, and he was a huge step up from what they had in 2021. I don't see anything wrong with being a homer on a broadcast, especially at this level. The fan favorite broadcasters of the Association, Danny Vaughan, Brad Allred, Sam Brief, and even Joe Brand are homers. I can usually tell in their voices what the score is. Joe Brand has that MLB & NHL experience, so he's a little more even-keeled than the others, but his excitement still comes through on big plays. Lastly, I think my favorite call from Ryan over his two seasons was the game ending triple play at Lincoln. It was far from a routine play, but he was right on top of it the whole time, and perfectly captured the excitement of an important road win.
Out of the nine Association ballparks I've been to, Gary has the worst parking. The outfield parking lot is too small, but I'm not paying $100 for a parking pass on the 3rd base side. I don't think turning Malcolm X Drive into a parking lot is feasible now. But I think the Railcats and city could team up to pave the empty lot where the buses park, maybe put up a fence to make that feel more safe. Even the Windy City Thunderbolts- with a tiny ballpark of about 2,000 capacity- has 4 or 5 times the parking of the Railcats. The parking capacity needs to be addressed in order for any activity at the SteelYard to grow and expand.
Hockey would be great, but I think the cost of ice would be prohibitive.
I bought some sets of the 2022 & 2023 Kane County Cougars baseball cards at their garage sale. I'll give you a pack of each if you want them. 😂
But yeah, the Cougars had those for sale, and some of their other giveaway items. Kind of made me mad, because I was at some of those giveaway games, but was late, didn't get the freebies, and had to buy them at the end of the season.
We have the worst scoreboard screen in the league. If the Railcats had a screen on par with the rest of the league, we would have the best scoreboard in the league.
You've absolutely nailed it with the former Righteous Ribs. The Railcats have partial control of that building already. They need full control of that space. Chicago, K.C., and Cleburne all have clubs. Cleburne's is open to all season ticket holders (and the RRCC). I wouldn't want to limit a Railcats club/bar to full season ticket holders, but anybody who buys a ticket package. I see it as a perk, rather than just letting in somebody that buys a ticket for one game, but I could change my mind on that. Partner up with Portillo's or Buona Beef, serve Italian beefs (my favorite part of going to a Sox game), Italian sausages, Polish sausages, stuff like that. Have the game on AATV, and maybe show another Association game, a game that impacts the Railcats in the standings. That could help sell AATV subscriptions, too. There are so many possibilities, I don't think any are really wrong, as long as something gets done with that space to bring in fans.
What was the front office change?
Ashley is gone I forgot her name for a second so yea lol she isn’t on the RailCats Front Office page and the job is on the American Association website.
@@railcatstalkpodcast Wow, I didn't know that, but I'm not too surprised, since Noah left for the White Sox.
@@ThePaulie02 yea but here’s the kicker Noah is still on the page and he’s position is not open.
The Del Valle inside-the-park HR might have been my favorite moment of the season. Maybe you had to be there, but the players definitely knew we were there, and seemed to feed off the energy. If only they could have played like that all season.
My only problem with Valera is that he shouldn't have batted third. We really didn't have a true third place hitter, though.
What Joe Eng said to me is that he just wanted to get through this year, and then make his changes for next year. He wouldn't say more than that, but I think he has some ideas, and was open to listening to fans.
That was one of the best, but confusing moments of the season. I thought it was gone because the horn sounded, and then Jesus stopped at 2B.
It was fun to relive it and hear some back story from the booth
The missing game was Kansas City right before the All Star break. I was in Geneva, not KC when I saw that game was postponed around 2:00 PM, but my Weather Channel app didn't say it was raining there, and didn't show any real chance of rain until 7:00 PM. I think the Monarchs just wanted to get all their All Stars on the road early.
That Mongo interview was great.
Since the Sheaks trade, only Cuello, Vivas, Francis, and Betances have started. With Betances coming out of the bullpen last night, do you think Erwin is ready to go and gets another start?
Nope. Still on injured list. But maybe Franklin Dacosta gets a shot?
@@ThePaulie02 maybe Valdez gets another start. I think these last 5 games are trail and error games.
Vitriago going tonight.
I think the onle reason Gio Diaz wasn't an All Star is that he didn't play any position enough early in the season.
I think the fans that are most likely to see this video are the ones who will understand if Lingua winds up in Cleburne next year, and will be rooting hard for him in 88 games. This time last year Walraven was insisting that he was retiring at the end of the season, so I think most of us were thrilled that he was traded to the team closest to his hometown, and a nice contingent of RC fans went to see him this year when he played in Joliet. When you see the players ss people, and not just as pieces of s baseball team, you always want to see what's best for them. I felt the same about Abbott. I wish he could have stayed in Gary, but at least he went somewhere that he was able to play.
Buy a new facecam it will help out the quality of the whole podcast. It will also make you look more professional.
Well when I have the money I will! You can always listen on Spotify as well if you don’t like the quality of the video. But thank you for the feedback. I will work on that!
I think the highlight of this week will be the return of Alec Olund. I know he got banged up last week, but I heard that he's back in the line-up. I hope he gets a nice ovation his first time up.
I'm bored at work.
I try not to criticize Lamarr, but I don't understand why he didn't pinch run for Valera in the 9th??? Valera did his job, got on base. But he's not a speedy guy. You've got nothing to lose by letting Decker run for him. He's a threat to steal, or at least speed up the defense. Too many times this year I've seen rallies killed by ground ball double plays. I understand you might not want to pull Valera earlier in the game, but there was no downside to in that situation.
How was that NOT Caddell's error??? He threw the ball away. For what?
