Directional Method for Dimensioning Fillet Weld | Eurocode 1993-1-8
After a thorough understanding of the fillet weld dimensioning process and calculation of the geometrical properties of welds, we have reached a point where we can now proceed with the directional method as per the guidelines stated in the Eurocode 1993-1-8. However, it is essential to note that the overall concept may be the same for users of different standards, such as AWS, ASME, CSA, and others.
In order to help you better understand the directional method in accordance with the Eurocode standard, we have created a video that explains the entire process in detail. Additionally, we also have some examples of the directional method in the following videos, which will provide you with a more comprehensive understanding of the topic. We highly recommend watching these videos to gain a deeper insight into this critical aspect of fillet weld dimensioning.

How to calculate the stresses on the critical point of the weld?
zhlédnutí 167Před 4 měsíci
The previous videos on calculating weld properties and transferring the applied actions on the centroid of the weld were just a warmup. It is time to go one step further to calculate the stresses on the critical points of the weld. This video will use multiple examples of calculating shear and normal stresses. These stresses can be caused by a torsional, bending moment, or normal and shear forc...
How to calculate the centroid and other properties of the weld?
zhlédnutí 316Před 4 měsíci
As you may have noticed and according to available statistics, almost 80% of welded joints are made by fillet welding. Because of the importance of this type of weld, we decided to record a playlist regarding the design of fillet welds according to Eurocode. In this video, we will go through multiple examples regarding calculating weld centroid and other properties of weld-like area and moment ...
How the loads are transferred to the center of the fillet weld?

As you may have noticed and according to available statistics, almost 80% of welded joints are made by fillet welding. Because of the importance of this type of weld, we decided to record a playlist regarding the design of fillet welds according to Eurocode. In this video, we solve multiple examples in which the loads in the structure are not necessarily applied at the center of the fillet weld...

SDOF | Effect of Load Frequency on the System Response | Undamped Forced vibration
zhlédnutí 69Před 5 měsíci
In the previous video, we analyzed the response of a system under harmonic loading, ignoring the effect of damping using Ansys. In this video, we will delve deeper into the topic by assessing the effect of load frequency on system response, and we will see what happens when the value of load frequency approaches a value close to the system’s natural frequency. #SHAH_Oy #shah #shahgordi #civil_e...

Furthermore, we will compare the results of the Ansys simulation ...
SDOF: An Example of Free Damped Vibration
zhlédnutí 61Před 6 měsíci
In the previous video, we delved into a detailed discussion of the behavior of underdamped systems. We analyzed the structure's response under different conditions and outlined the corresponding response equations. We explored the concept of damping, which is the resistance of a system to oscillation, and discussed how underdamped systems oscillate with a decreasing amplitude over time. This vi...

In the previous video, we delved into the topic of overdamped structures and learned about the concept of critical damping. In this video, we will be focusing on underdamped systems and their behavior. We will examine the structure's response under different conditions and obtain the relevant response equations. By the end of this video, you will better understand how underdamped systems behave...
SDOF: Damped Free Vibration. Overdamped and critical damped systems.
zhlédnutí 52Před 6 měsíci
In the previous video, we discussed how to model a free vibration system in Ansys; however, in this video, we will delve deeper into free vibration but with damping. Damping refers to the energy dissipation in a vibrating system that reduces the amplitude of its oscillations over time. Thus, it is an essential characteristic of realistic mechanical systems, and understanding its effects is cruc...
Ansys Modeling, SDOF: An Example of Free Undamped Vibration

In the third video of the Dynamic of Structures playlist, we discussed a scenario where a structure could vibrate independently without any external load or damping. We demonstrated this through an example problem, where we used the principles of structural dynamics to explain the phenomenon. This video will take the same example problem and model it in Ansys. By doing so, we can obtain a more ...

Sorry but very boring way of presenting. Nevertheless less thanks for the efforts.
I think the value of critical lateral torsional buckling is for ends which are restrained against warping. what will be the support definition in ANSYS in case there is no warping restraint at ends?

Hello Ahmed, Thank you verry much for your videos. Can you please tell us the material you use for illustration ? Thanks
You have just skipped a good chunk of the reality by modelling the bolt connections in this way.

How can I get the post buckling behaviour of the beam (i.e when P>Pcr)? I want to get the shape of the beam (w(x) and phi(x))
Hello Mrunal, Well, the used method here is shape function approximation. For the shape function of the beam in post-buckling, a mathematical theoretical solution might be the best option. However, that would be sophisticated mathematical equations.
@@shahgordi Thanks for your comment! Would you recommend any literature for the same? Your recommendation would be very helpful!
